New Zone: Siren Isle
Let’s dive into the new zone introduced in patch 11.07: Siren Isle. This is where you’ll be spending a lot of your time in the new patch. The island might feel familiar if you remember the Forbidden Reach from patch 10.07.
Interestingly, the map for Siren Isle was initially created during Battle for Azeroth as an unused Island Expedition. Now, it’s undergone major transformations in both appearance and its role in The War Within storyline.
While the map isn’t enormous, it offers distinct phases with different NPCs appearing based on the phase. In the regular version of the map, you’ll encounter three NPC rotations: Pirates, Vio, and Naga.
Completing the world quest, which cycles every three days, unlocks a special storm phase. This phase introduces harder mobs, different quests, and new challenges. During the storm phase, you won’t be able to fly, making it feel akin to the Rift phase from Korthia.
Speaking of flying, you’ll eventually unlock it here, but it’s not instantaneous. It takes six weeks of weekly quests to gain flying access. In the meantime, the island provides alternative ways to get around, including jetpacks and other fun tools. Until then, your trusty ground mounts will be your primary mode of transportation.
Getting to the island is straightforward. After completing a short introductory questline, you’ll find an NPC near Dazar’alor who can teleport you there. Alternatively, you can use the mole machine in Gundrak, which directly transports you to Siren Isle.
The zone is packed with activities typical of a new area in WoW, including secrets, rares, treasures, and daily quests. Every three days, a world quest becomes available, and completing it activates the storm phase of the island.
There’s also a new system called Major Excavations, which introduces three unique caves. These caves spawn mini-bosses for you to defeat.
To access them, you’ll need to contribute a new currency called Flame-Blessed Iron, which you’ll collect from almost every activity on the island. Flame-Blessed Iron is warband transferable, making it useful across all your characters.
You’ll use this currency for a variety of purposes, from unlocking Major Excavations to purchasing transmogs and other rewards.
The standout reward on Siren Isle is a powerful new ring, the Cersei Ciret, reminiscent of the Onyx Annulet from the Forbidden Reach. This ring is introduced early in the questline and is unique for being one of the first visible rings on your character when equipped.
The Cersei Ciret features three sockets:
- Yellow (Thunder)
- Blue (Sea)
- Red (Wind)
Unlike its predecessor, you can freely swap and change gems at any time, anywhere. The gems are abundant, and you’ll find them through quests, secrets, treasures, and other activities.
Once unlocked, gems become account-wide, so you can purchase them from vendors for your alt characters.
The ring starts at item level 619, equivalent to Hero Track gear. Each week, you’ll receive an upgrade item to enhance its power, capping at item level 639—the equivalent of Mythic-level gear.
Additionally, the gems scale with the ring’s item level, so there’s no need to upgrade them individually.
If you’re looking to gear up your alts, Siren Isle has you covered with catch-up gear. You’ll find item level 584 Veteran gear, which is a recolored version of the Cazal Guard dungeon set. This gear is warband-bound, meaning you can send it to your other characters.
There are also four unique mounts to collect:
- Se’s Vintage Wave Shredder – A surfboard-style mount purchased with Flame-Blessed Iron.
- Prismatic Snapdragon – A customizable mount that requires ten days of dailies. Similar to the Mechagon cat, you can change its colors.
- Three-Eyed Siren Storm Crow – A secret mount unlocked by finding five runestones scattered around the island.
- Breaker’s Song Mount – A meta-achievement reward and a redesign of the Dreadwake mount.
For you collectors, Siren Isle offers plenty of achievements. Most are relatively straightforward, making this zone an attractive completionist’s playground.
From transmogs and mounts to the powerful Cersei Ciret ring, there’s a lot to uncover as you prepare for the end of Season 1 and the start of Season 2.
Story Questlines
In patch 11.07, we’ll explore new storylines with some intriguing updates. For starters, we’ll get deeper into the lore involving Ora. While the details remain unclear, there’s a hint of upcoming cutscenes teased from earlier PTR builds.
It's unclear exactly how this will unfold, but expect some significant developments.
Another major addition is the new questline, Fate of the Kirin Tor. This has been tested on the PTR and serves as both a farewell to Dalaran and a subtle hint about future storylines involving the Kirin Tor. It’s a bittersweet and exciting step forward for fans of this arcane city.
Character Customization
Patch 11.07 also brings fresh updates for character customization. Human and Kul Tiran characters (as well as the human form of Worgen) gain new ear shape options, including pointy "Arathorian" ears.
These options, datamined way back during beta, will be available to all human characters without any unlock requirements.

These changes offer a mix of buffs, tweaks, and rebalancing that are sure to shake up gameplay for many races.
Grouping Updates
Patch 11.07 introduces new cross-faction grouping capabilities, albeit with some limitations. If you have a full pre-made party of five players, you can now queue for dungeons, including Timewalking, Heroic, and Normal.
However, without a full party, cross-faction queuing remains unavailable—a half-step towards broader cross-faction functionality.
On the PvP side, cross-faction groups can now queue for unrated PvP content with any group size. Whether it’s two, three, or five players, you can jump into battlegrounds together, offering a more inclusive experience for PvP enthusiasts.
Timewalking Vendor Updates
Timewalking vendors are getting a substantial refresh in 11.07, introducing new rewards across several expansions:
- Cataclysm: Broodling of Sinestra mount.
- Mists of Pandaria: Copper-Mained Quilen mount.
- Warlords of Draenor: Nightfall Skyreaver mount.
- Legion: Yrel's Flayer Ripper mount.
These mounts will be available from their respective Timewalking vendors, alongside new transmog items and other collectibles. Following the 11.05 updates, this patch adds even more variety for collectors.
Additionally, the Kyrian Path of Ascension vendor from Shadowlands now allows any class to purchase Discordant Cosmetic armor, regardless of armor type, streamlining transmog collection.
Retroactive Quest Rewards
More quests will now retroactively award rewards, continuing the work started in the previous patch. This means your item percentages may unexpectedly increase when the patch goes live—a pleasant surprise for completionists.
Battle for Azeroth Meta-Achievement
A new meta-achievement for Battle for Azeroth is being added in 11.07. This comprehensive achievement requires completing nearly every major BFA achievement, covering both Horde and Alliance content. While some of the more grueling tasks, like Through the Depths of Visions, are being nerfed, you’ll still have a hefty checklist to work through.
Completing this meta-achievement rewards the Jani Mount, a unique transformation mount allowing you to turn into Jani and scuttle around Azeroth in true loa fashion.
11.0.X Meta-Achievement: "You Z Shall Not Pass"
This meta-achievement ties together all the smaller achievements from The War Within, including those related to Siren Isle (which unlocks with 11.07).
To earn the achievement, you’ll need to explore treasures, defeat rares, and complete quirky tasks like tossing rocks at Meredeth.
The reward is a Void Elemental Mount named Shadow of Doubt. While the model is a recolor of an existing design, it’s a striking addition for collectors keeping pace with the latest content.
Winter Veil Updates
Winter Veil is getting a refresh this year, with a new battle pet and transmog items. These were not tested on the PTR but are expected to go live a couple of days after the patch. Stay tuned for festive surprises!
Target Dummy Area Changes
Finally, a minor yet welcome quality-of-life improvement: the sparring Peacekeepers near the target dummies in Valdrakken's Contender's Gate can now be dismissed. Just talk to them and politely ask them to step aside, giving you an uninterrupted training session.
Turbulent Timeways Returns
The Turbulent Timeways event makes its comeback on January 7, 2025, and runs until February 25, 2025, which aligns with the rumored release date for patch 11.1.
This event follows the familiar format of weekly rotating Timewalking expansions and offers enticing rewards.
Each week, players can earn a Heroic Ny’alotha, the Waking City raid item, making this an excellent opportunity to gear up.
Additionally, there’s a new achievement, Master of the Turbulent Timeways 2, which rewards the Timely Buzzbee mount—a stunning bronze dragon-themed bee mount.
For those who missed out on the previous Turbulent Timeways reward, it has been added to Timewalking vendors for 5,000 Timewarped Badges. This ensures everyone can still collect older rewards while enjoying the new content.
Plunderstorm Returns
The Plunderstorm event re-emerges on January 14, 2025, and runs through February 18, 2025, bringing some notable changes and fresh features to the table.
New updates include:
- Practice Mode: Perfect for players wanting to sharpen their skills before diving into the real competition.
- New Abilities and Adjustments: Abilities have been rebalanced to keep the event fresh and engaging.
- Improved Starting Rewards: Players now receive better loot to kick things off.
The previous Renown-based reward system is gone, replaced by a Plunder Store. You can now use Plunder as currency to purchase both older rewards and new ones. This includes mounts, transmog items, and other collectibles.
For newcomers, it will be a grind, but veteran players can focus on the exciting new additions.
There are hints of upcoming changes for Plunderstorm, such as new maps and possible enhancements to queue options through the PvP tab.
While these aren’t confirmed for this iteration, Blizzard has described this update as Plunderstorm 1.5, teasing more significant updates in the future.
How To Prepare For The Siren’s Isle
This week, the War Within Dungeon Event takes center stage. When you defeat the last boss in any War Within dungeon, you’ll earn an extra item. If you’re hunting that elusive piece of loot, don’t forget to hit up Dawn Breer, Stone Vault, Arakara, and City of Threads in Mythic+.
The 20th Anniversary Celebration continues to shine, with less than four weeks remaining until it concludes on January 6, 2025. If you haven’t already farmed all the rewards available for Celebration Tokens, now’s your chance.
Running Timewalking dungeons has been a fantastic way to earn tokens and level alts. Pair that with the current XP boost, and it’s easy to zoom through levels—especially as a tank or healer, thanks to near-instant queue times.
If you’re hesitant to dive into tanking or healing, don’t worry. Trying out these roles during this event is highly rewarding. As a tank, you’ll lead the party, maintain aggro, and mitigate damage, all while handling mechanics to keep your team alive.
It can be nerve-wracking at first, but with practice (and the occasional supportive group), it gets much easier. Tanks are nearly unkillable in most content, and short queues make the learning curve worth it.
For those uncomfortable starting with a full group, consider Follower Dungeons. These AI-controlled dungeons let you practice tanking or healing without the pressure of live teammates. It’s a great way to ease into the role and gain confidence.
Share your tanking or healing advice (or success stories) in the comments! If you’re just starting, let us know—we’d love to help with tips or encouragement.
In PvP news, the Cooking Impossible PvP Brawl is live. Teams compete to gather ingredients for a chili cook-off, treating them like flags in a capture-the-flag match. It's chaotic and fun, so give it a shot!
Finally, don’t forget your weekly checklist. Knock out any chores that offer rewards you still need. From dungeons to PvP to holiday events, there’s plenty to keep you busy this week.
