The RS3 Stormguard Citadel is a unique dig site that requires special equipment to navigate. The trade-off is that this dig site's mysteries are much simpler than those of other dig sites, so you will complete every mystery and unlock every reward in no time! Without further ado, let's begin!
As with everything Runescape 3 Archaeology, having better equipment will greatly increase your speed at solving these mysteries. So if you don’t have access to the best items such as the guild master’s mattock, you can check out our rs store to get anything you need quickly and safely!
Stormguard Citadel Mysteries
Atonement
The first mystery is called “Atonement” which serves as your introduction to this flying fortress.
Requirements
- Level 70 Archaeology
Solution
This is a straightforward mystery that involves just two simple steps:
- First, you'll need to excavate at the Ikovian memorial hotspot located outside the portal until you find the "exile's vow" page. You can find this spot right near the Temple of Ikov before entering the citadel itself.
- After finding the page, simply speak with Gee'ka about your discovery to complete the mystery.
Reward
- 9,300 Archaeology experience
- Unlocks "Atonement" achievement
Leap of Faith
This mystery is a crucial one that allows you further entry into the Citadel by introducing you to the boots of flight!
Requirements
- Level 70 Archaeology
Solution
- The mystery automatically starts when you first attempt to use the portal entrance to the Stormguard Citadel
- Excavate at the Ikovian memorial outside the portal until you find an Ikovian gerege (damaged)
- Take the damaged gerege to an archaeologist's workbench and restore it
- Once restored, add it to your tool belt
- Use the portal to enter the Stormguard Citadel
- Once inside, continue excavating at the internal Ikovian memorial sites
- Keep excavating until you find the Boots of Flight
- Restore the boots at an archaeologist's workbench
- Add them to your toolbelt
- With your Boots of Flight equipped, go back to the citadel and head north
- Cross two gaps using your new boots
- You'll receive a message confirming the mystery's completion

- 9,300 Archaeology experience
- "Leap of Faith" achievement completed
- Permanent access to the Stormguard Citadel
- Ability to traverse gaps using Boots of Flight
The Spy Who Loved Metal
As we mentioned above, this dig site's mysteries are pretty simple compared to others, so we have another “finding pages” mystery.
Requirements
- Level 76 Archaeology
- Completion of "Leap of Faith" mystery
Solution
This mystery revolves around collecting three specific mission report pages. You can find these pages at either of two locations:
Collection Locations
- Keshik ger (Level 76 Archaeology required)
- Tailory debris (Level 81 Archaeology required)
Required Pages
You'll need to uncover all of these mission report pages:
- Mission Report: Everlight Silvthril
- Mission Report: Warforged Bronze
- Mission Report: Hellfire Metal
Completing the Collection
- As you find each page, make sure to read it first, then transcribe it into your archaeology journal
- Order of finding the pages doesn't matter
- Keep excavating until you have all three
- Once you have found and transcribed all three pages, speak with Gee'ka to complete the mystery

- "The Spy Who Loved Metal" achievement completed
Wing Out
This exciting mystery introduces you to one of the Stormguard Citadel's most unique features, the wingsuit system. This system will be your ticket to discovering this dig site in its entirety.
Requirements
- Level 76 Archaeology
- Level 40 Smithing
Solution
- Head to the northern building in the Keshik memorial excavation site
- Excavate until you find wingsuit v1 (damaged)
- Restore it at an archaeologist's workbench
- Once restored, add it to your toolbelt
- Locate the bridge edge to the west of the Keshik memorial excavation site
- Leap from the bridge edge
- Fly southwest until you reach another bridge edge (marked with a red line on the minimap)
- Land safely on the platform
- Run northeast to the building
- Climb down the rope
- You will find the lightning conductor near the central pillar
- Climb back up the rope
- Leap from the same bridge edge you landed on previously
- Fly south and then east, past the small island
- Head to the centremost southern island (Research & Development northwest site)
- Go southwest to the cliff edge
- Climb down the rope
- Collect the second lightning conductor
- Your wingsuit will automatically upgrade to v2
- Climb back up the rope
- Leap from the bridge edge
- Successfully fly past some lightning posts to finish the mystery

- 12,000 Archaeology experience
- Unlocks "Wing Out" achievement
- Wingsuit v2 upgrade
- Ability to fly through lightning post areas
A Study in Aether
Another mystery where you will need to simply collect pages!
Requirements
- Level 85 Archaeology
- Completion of previous mysteries
- Access to various research debris excavation sites
Solution
This mystery involves collecting five specific project journal pages. These can be found at any of the following excavation hotspots:
Excavation Locations:
- Weapons research debris (Level 85)
- Gravitron research debris (Level 91)
- Keshik tower debris (Level 95)
- Destroyed golem (Level 98)
- Keshik weapon rack (Level 103)
- Flight research debris (Level 111)
- Aetherium forge (Level 112)
- Howl's workshop debris (Level 118)
Required Journal Pages:
- Project Blackfire
- Projects Night Owl and Hawkeye
- Project Carina
- Project Talon
- Project Woodpecker
Steps to Complete:
- Excavate at any of the listed locations until you find all five project pages.
- Read and transcribe each page into your archaeology journal as you find them.
- After collecting and transcribing all five pages, speak with Gee'ka.
Reward
- 18,000 Archaeology experience
- Unlocks "A Study in Aether" achievement
Howl's Floating Workshop
This is the final mystery for this dig site. Completing this mystery will unlock the secrets of ancient inventions for your account, which is the main reason why people solve the mysteries in the Stormguard Citadel.
Requirements
- Level 95 Archaeology
- Wingsuit v3 (upgraded from v2)
- Stormguard gerege (in toolbelt)
- Completion of previous mysteries
Solution
- Locate the gravitational core in the center of the dig site (Stormguard gerege in your toolbelt. Both items must be in the toolbelt for the gravitational core to work properly.)
- Interact with the core to be lifted to the upper level
- You'll be transported to Howl's workshop area
- Enter the workshop building
- Study the drafting bench to unlock the "Back to the Drawing Board" research
- Optional: Search the drafting bench again to collect 50 Torn blueprint fragments
- Send your research team on the "Back to the Drawing Board" mission (Important Note: This research requires level 95 Archaeology and CANNOT be boosted)
- Wait for research completion
- Return to the workshop
- Investigate the drafting bench one final time
- This will complete the mystery

- 28,000 Archaeology experience
- Unlocks "Howl's Floating Workshop" achievement
- Full access to all areas of Howl's workshop
