RS3 Kharid-Et Digsite Complete Mystery Guide

Mysteries are an essential part of the skill, Archaeology. Each dig site has a bunch of mysteries that the player can solve and gain benefits for solving. Also, the player will be able to complete an achievement if they solve all the mysteries in a given digsite. Here is a quick guide on how you can solve all the mysteries at the Kharid-et Digsite!

As with all things Runescape 3, having better mattocks greatly increases your speed of doing these tasks. If you don’t have the money to buy the best mattocks, you can check out our store and purchase some RS3 Gold from RPGStash!

Kharid-et Mysteries

Kharid-et_Digsite_Overview

Breaking the Seal

We start off with a really simple mystery which requires level 12 Archaeology.

  1. First up, have a chat with Dr Nabanik after you've done the Archaeology tutorial. You will need to talk to him two times to receive a damaged centurion’s seal.

Dr_Nabanik_Conversation

  1. Now dig away at the fort debris until you can see the entrance.
  2. Head to a workbench and restore that seal (you'll need 6 Third Age iron and 2 Zarosian insignia)
  3. Finally, just walk through the fort entrance with your restored seal in your backpack

Done! This will allow you to start your Kharid-et journey by granting you access to it. You'll get 900 Archaeology experience and can now access the main fortress.

Prison Break

Our second mystery is also really simple and also requires Level 12 Archaeology.

For this mystery, you'll need to get your hands on all four custodian's log pages. You can find these while digging at:

  • Legionary remains

Legionary_Remains

  • Castra debris
  • Administratum debris
  • Carcerem debris

Kharid-et_Prison_Dial

After getting those, talk to Liam and he'll give you the missing Kharid-et prison dial. You can find him near the prison door as shown below:

Liam_near_Prison_Door

Look for the broken dial on the wall (it's the third one down) to the right of the prison door and fix it.

Press the buttons in this exact order:

  • Shadow
  • Blood
  • Smoke
  • Ice

Super easy, right? Once you're done, you'll get 900 Archaeology experience and access to the prison block.

Time Served

For this one you'll need:

  • Level 47 Archaeology
  • Prison Break mystery done

This one's pretty straightforward:

  1. Get yourself to the prison we have just unlocked and excavate the praesidio remains until you find a damaged ancient timepiece.
  2. Fix it up at a workbench and return to the prison.
  3. Use it on the ancient mechanism and you're done!

Nice and simple - you'll get 2,800 Archaeology experience and partial access to the Vault.

The Cult of Orcus

You'll need level 74 Archaeology and Prison Break completed for this one. It is another “dig up the pages” mystery.

Your job is to find all three pater's log pages. You can dig these up from:

  • Kharid-et chapel debris if you've got level 74 Archaeology
  • Pontifex remains at level 81 Archaeology
  • Orcus altar at level 86 Archaeology

Kharid-et_Chapel_Debris

Once you've got all three, just talk to Dr Nabanik and you're done.

For your trouble, you'll get 11,000 Archaeology experience.

The Forgotten Prisoner

Forgotten_Prisoner_Location

From this point on all the mysteries require high Archaeology levels. For this mystery, you'll need level 107 Archaeology and the Prison Break mystery done. Make sure you have:

  • Pontifex signet ring (can be on your tool belt)
  • Legatus pendant (tool belt works for this too)
  • Portable phylactery

If you don’t have access to these items, the pendant can be found in Praesidio remains and the signet ring can be found in Carcerem debris.

So, onwards to solving the mystery:

  1. Get yourself to the solitary confinement area.
  • Once there, locate the strange device and tell it:
  • Its name is Xil'gar Trog
  • It's a demon soul
  • It's in a prison
  • It committed treason
  1. Grab yourself a portable phylactery from ancient magick munitions.
  2. Fix it up and bring it back to fulfill the contract.

And there you go - another 54,000 Archaeology experience!

Decimation

Pretty similar to Prison Break - needs level 107 Archaeology and Prison Break completed. To solve this one you will need to find six pages; these pages can all be found from one of these spots:

  • Ancient magick munitions (Level 107 Archaeology)
  • Praetorian remains (Level 114 Archaeology)
  • War table debris (Level 118 Archaeology)

Ancient_Magick_Munitions

After collecting all the pages, go ahead and make your way to Dr Nabanik and talk to him about the mystery.

Another nice 54,000 Archaeology experience for completing this mystery.

Shadow Fall

Another high-level mystery needing 107 Archaeology and Prison Break done. Just like the previous mystery, you will need to collect five praetorian's log pages. You can get these from:

  • Ancient magick munitions if you're level 107 Archaeology
  • Praetorian remains at level 114 Archaeology
  • War table debris at level 118 Archaeology

War_Table_Debris_Location

Once you've got them all, make your way back to Dr. Nabanik and tell him about it to complete the mystery.

Easy 54,000 Archaeology experience for that one!

The Vault of Shadows

Now this one's a bit more complicated than the others and it will take some time to complete but fret not, as this is the final mystery that you will need to solve. For this mystery you'll need:

  • Level 107 Archaeology
  • Time Served mystery completed
  • Either all shadow anchors powered up or the pylon active

Make sure you've got these items ready:

  • Legatus pendant (you can put this on your tool belt)
  • Pontifex signet ring (this can go on the tool belt too)
  • Ring of visibility or shadow realm access if you've done Fate of the Gods

And these four spell scrolls:

  • 'Incite Fear'
  • 'Exsanguinate'
  • 'Smoke Cloud'
  • 'Animate Dead'

Ice Puzzle

  1. First, make your way to the prison block and head through the eastern door, which you unlocked during the “Time Served Mystery.”
  2. Once inside, head south and use the 'Incite Fear' spell near the inactive dial on the western wall.

Ice_Puzzle_Dial

  1. Press the button to be teleported.
  2. Pick up the log page in the middle of the room. Be careful to use right-click to avoid misclicking. If you make a misclick, simply leave and return to reset the puzzle.

Before starting, it's essential to understand how the controls work:

  • Controls on the floor correspond to clusters of 4 dials (2x2 squares) on the door.
  • Each control rotates its corresponding dials either clockwise or counterclockwise.
  • Controls are positioned to roughly match their dial positions when facing the door.

Control Layout:

  • Front Row (nearest to door): Controls top 2 rows of dials
    • Left control → Left-most 2x2 dials
    • Center control → Central 2x2 dials
    • Right control → Right-most 2x2 dials
  • Middle Row: Controls center 2 rows of dials
    • Same left-to-right pattern as above
  • Back Row (farthest from door): Controls bottom 2 rows of dials
    • Same left-to-right pattern as above
