Power Siphon Trickster Build Guide in PoE 3.25

Grinding Gear Games has cooked in Path of Exile: Settlers of Kalguur by introducing interesting changes and mechanics. A lot of amazing builds have spawned as a result of this; one of which is the Power Siphon Trickster.

If you look at PoE Ninja, the Trickster ascendancy class is the most popular in Patch 3.25. Why is that? Well, it offers a good mix of offense and defense, allowing you to farm fully juiced maps without a hitch.

Now, the build we are going to talk about today throws multiple mines in quick succession, which can populate the entire screen with powerful projectiles once they detonate. These projectiles can eliminate monsters no matter how strong or tanky they are.

If that sounds interesting to you, then read further. This is our ultimate build guide for the Power Siphon Trickster in PoE 3.25!

Why Choose Power Siphon Trickster?

The main skill that this build uses is Power Siphon. It is an attack that prompts you to fire projectiles as long as there are enemies on the screen. This skill gem received a couple of amazing buffs in Patch 3.25.

For one, the skill itself got a minor attack speed improvement, making it more efficient than before. But more importantly, Power Siphon has gained a significant damage boost. You can unlock its full potential by improving your spell damage through gear and items.

That said, to scale the damage of Power Siphon, look for the following mods:

  • Increased Spell Damage
  • + to Critical Strike Multiplier
  • + Intelligence
  • Increased Mine Throwing Speed
  • Increased Critical Strike Chance
  • Added Lightning Damage
  • + Maximum Power Charge

Power Siphon can be cast manually simply by wielding a wand. However, this build uses a different approach where you link the said skill gem with Locus Mine Support as well. Doing so will essentially turn it into a Mine Skill.

There are a few advantages to that. First, improving your mine throwing speed enables you to throw Power Siphon mines quickly. Second, the projectiles that are fired from the mines have an auto-targeting feature, which alleviates the need to place the mines strategically. Third, you can “preload” the mines so that when the boss encounter begins, they will receive a ton of damage immediately.

Now, you are probably wondering why the Trickster is chosen as the ascendancy class for this build rather than the Saboteur. This is a good question since the Saboteur was once deemed as the go-to ascendancy class for builds that utilize mines in Path of Exile.

The thing is, the Trickster ascendancy is just so much better in terms of overall balance. Escape Artist greatly improves your survivability by increasing your evasion and energy shield. Just craft some good body armor and helmet and you can take on enemies even on a budget.

Spellbreaker is another ascendancy node that makes you tanky. Not only does it increase spell suppression, but it also prevents an additional 10% of spell damage while you’re on full energy shield.

For offense, there is Polymath. This Trickster ascendancy node increases your damage for each different type of Mastery you have allocated. You can easily get at least 24% increased damage just by taking this node!

As for the last notable ascendancy passive, you have a couple of good options. One Step Ahead ensures your base action speed does not dip below 108%. The other choice is Swift Killer — an ascendancy node that raises your maximum Frenzy Charges by two for 8% more damage.

We recommend that you get the ascendancy nodes in this order:

  1. Escape Artist
  2. Spellbreaker
  3. Polymath
  4. One Step Ahead/Swift Killer

Playstyle

The Power Siphon Trickster is pretty easy to play. All you need to do is throw mines on the ground whenever you see enemies. The mines will be detonated automatically thanks to the aptly named Detonate Mines Support linked with Automation.

Whenever you take on tough monsters and bosses, use Bear Trap and Arcanist Brand to boost your damage against them. Place a Sigil of Power on the ground for some added lightning damage as well.

Power Siphon Trickster Gear Recommendations

It is important to note that the Power Siphon Trickster in PoE 3.25 is built as an INT stacker. For the uninitiated, that just means that you increase your character's Intelligence attribute as high as you can. There is a good reason for that, which will be explained in the succeeding sections.

Weapon

Intelligence in Path of Exile naturally increases your maximum energy shield and mana. However, there are items in the Settlers of Kalguur expansion that expand the effects of INT and one of those is a well-crafted Prophecy Wand.

Grab an ilvl 82+ Shaper-influenced Prophecy Wand and spam it with Essence of Wrath (Added Lightning Damage) until you get the T1 increased spell damage and the influenced mod: “Adds 1 to 6 Lightning Damage to Attacks with This Weapon per 10 Intelligence.”

Lock the prefixes and use Harvest Reforge Critical to possibly get INT and critical strike multiplier. If there is still an open suffix, bench-craft increased mine throwing speed and call it a day.

Crafted_Prophecy_Wand

Later on, you can invest in a synthesized Prophecy Wand with the same influenced mod mentioned earlier. However, you can take things a step further by getting a wand with “1% Increased Spell Damage per 16 Intelligence” as well. This costs an exorbitant amount of PoE Currency items, but you can skip the grind by visiting our PoE Store.

Shield

Malachai's Loop is just too hard to pass up for the Power Siphon Trickster. Not only does it increase your energy shield by a lot, but this unique item also boosts your spell damage via Power Charges. Do not worry about its downside because it can be addressed by another unique item, which will be discussed later.

Body Armor

Thanks to the Trickster ascendancy node, Escape Artist, you can get huge amounts of energy shield by wearing body armor that has a high evasion rating. For this reason, you'd want to grab an ilvl 86+ Necrotic Armour and spam it with Deafening Essence of Doubt (Evasion Rating) until you get increased evasion/energy shield, spell suppression, and INT. Bench-craft “6% Increased Attributes” if you still have an open suffix.

As for the implicit mods, go for increased effect of non-curse auras by spamming Grand Eldritch Embers. Furthermore, spam Grand Eldritch Ichors to obtain physical damage from hits taken as chaos damage for improved survivability.

Helmet

Unique items in Path of Exile allow you to use a Vaal Orb for a chance to gain a useful corrupt implicit modifier. Having said that, you can grab the Willclash and possibly get “+1 to Maximum Power Charge” by corrupting it with the said PoE Currency item. Willclash offers tremendous value to the Power Siphon Trickster due to its evasion/energy shield boost, as well as increased elemental damage and spell block chance per Power Charge.

If you do not mind crafting items in Path of Exile: Settlers of Kalguur, you can utilize an ilvl85+ Lich’s Circlet and spam it with any essence you like. In fact, you can even get mana reservation efficiency by using the Essence of Loathing. Prioritize energy shield, elemental resistance, and other attributes if needed.

Gloves

This equipment slot is a good place to sort out your resistances and attributes. We suggest that you use the Phantom Mitts as the crafting base. Make sure that the gloves have an item level of 85 so that you can roll T1 spell suppression.

Once you have enough PoE Currency, you can purchase gloves that have the Alva Temple mod: “% Increased Damage with Hits Against Chilled Enemies.” If you are able to fracture that with a Fracturing Orb, you can use any essence of your choosing to craft the endgame gloves. Some suggestions include the Essence of Spite (INT), Essence of Zeal (Attack Speed), or Essence of Torment (Added Lightning Damage to Attacks).

Boots

Both Malachai's Loop and Willclash have terrible downsides that can potentially hinder your character from doing huge amounts of damage. Fortunately, you could address their negative effects by wearing Ralakesh's Impatience. These boots are really popular in Path of Exile right now, so you may want to drop by our PoE Store to get some currency to purchase them.

Ralakesh's_Impatience_boots

The Warlock Boots introduced in Path of Exile: Settlers of Kalguur offer the highest amount of energy shield, making them the perfect crafting base. That said, you can either use your favorite essence to craft the boots or the Hollow Fossil to create an Abyssal Socket, which allows you to insert an abyssal jewel for improved damage and energy shield.

Amulet

here are a few fantastic options when it comes to the amulet for the Power Siphon Trickster. The most cost-effective is Marylene's Fallacy, which is a unique amulet that greatly boosts your critical strike damage in exchange for less crit chance.

MARYLENE 'S_FALLACY_LAPIS_AMULET

If you are heavily leaning towards raising your maximum Power Charges, the Badge of the Brotherhood is an amazing alternative. This not only allows you to get to 100% crit chance easily, but it also boosts your damage by making your Frenzy Charges equal to your Power Charges.

Crafting in PoE 3.25 is risky but it certainly pays off, especially if you are able to get the mods that you desire. That said, you could use a couple of Simplex Amulets (Shaper- and Crusader-influenced) to obtain “% Increased Attributes” and “2% Increased Damage per 15 Intelligence.”

Spam each amulet with Orb of Alteration until you get the modifiers mentioned above. Once you have them, you could use an Awakener's Orb to fuse them together with the said mods intact. This process does put an additional suffix, which means that you could get lucky and obtain “% Increased Intelligence” as well.

Hypnotic_Torc_Simplex_Amulet

Once you have selected an amulet, we highly recommend that you anoint it with Tranquility (Prismatic Oil, Silver Oil, Golden Oil) for more spell damage and energy shield. Alternatively, you can go for Assassination (Black Oil, Opalescent Oil, Golden Oil) or Heartseeker (Teal Oil, 2x Crimson Oils) to boost your critical strike damage.

Rings

Do you still have any issues with the build that need to be addressed? If so, you could craft rings using the Horticrafting Station or by spamming your favorite essences. Should you go for the latter, we recommend that you use Essence of Scorn to guarantee global critical strike multiplier.

The modifiers you should aim for include INT, attack speed, added lightning damage, and increased elemental damage with attacks. If there is an open prefix, add the “Non-channeling Skills Have -7 to Total Mana Cost” mod from the Crafting Bench.

Belt

The beauty of the Power Siphon Trickster is that you can make it work on a minimal investment. As soon as you are finished with the campaign, you could craft a belt using the Stygian Vise as the base. Utilize Essence of Zeal to guarantee mine throwing speed, as well as obtain other useful mods like elemental resistance and maximum energy shield.

If you are a Path of Exile beginner, the Stygian Vise is a commonly used belt because you can insert an abyssal jewel for additional modifiers. Some helpful mods include critical strike multiplier, energy shield, and INT.

Ultimately, you will transition to using the Mageblood. The Mageblood is one of the best unique items in PoE 3.25 mainly because it provides quality of life unlike any other. Do you want a hassle-free way of getting the Mageblood? Go to our PoE Store today!

Flasks

  • Quicksilver Flask
  • Bismuth Flask
  • Quartz Flask
  • Silver Flask
  • Bottled Faith/Progenesis

  • 25% Increased Effect (Abecedarian/Alchemist/Dabbler, Prefix)
  • 70% Increased Effect (use Enkindling Orbs)

Jewels

The Power Siphon Trickster is already tanky just by wearing the items mentioned above. However, you are still prone to elemental ailments, such as Freeze, Shock, or Ignite. To achieve full elemental ailment immunity, you should insert the Stormshroud into one of your jewel sockets on the passive tree.

Stormshroud basically makes modifiers to “Chance to Avoid Being Shocked” apply to all elemental ailments. Of course, you must have 100% shock avoidance, so you will need to wear the Mageblood and get a Flask with the “of Bog Moss” suffix. A staple among PoE builds, the Watcher’s Eye grants amazing bonuses, including:

  • +% to Critical Strike Multiplier While Affected by Precision
  • Damage Penetrates % Lightning Resistance While Affected by Wrath
  • Increased Lightning Damage While Affected by Wrath
  • +% Chance to Evade Attack Hits While Affected by Grace
  • +% Chance to Suppress Spell Damage While Affected by Grace

Having at least one Medium Cluster Jewel (Trap/Mine Damage) can go a long way for the Power Siphon Trickster in PoE 3.25. Use Harvest Reforge Speed until you get Surprise Sabotage and Guerilla Tactics.

Here are the other jewels you can invest in:

  • Split Personality: Use a couple of these to increase your INT without a heavy investment. Just make sure to insert them as far away from the starting point as possible to get the most out of this unique jewel
  • Forbidden Jewel set: Buy Forbidden Flesh and Forbidden Flame jewels with Unstable Infusion, Deadly Infusion, or Mistwalker
  • Lethal Pride: This grants a chance to deal double damage to enemies
  • 12-passive Large Cluster Jewel: Use the Harvest Reforge Defense until you get attributes, INT, maximum energy shield, and increased effect
  • Base Jewels with INT, energy shield, and mine throwing speed
  • Abyssal Jewels with INT, global critical strike multiplier, and maximum energy shield

For the Masteries, you can take the following:

  • Mine Mastery
    • Each Mine applies 2% reduced Damage dealt to Enemies near it, up to 10%

Tips and Strategies

  • Improve Your Evasion and Energy Shield: Both of these defensive layers work really well with the Trickster’s “Escape Artist” notable ascendancy passive skill.
  • Invest in Synthesized Gear: When you have enough PoE Currency items, you can invest in synthesized gear that has mods that increase spell damage, critical strike multiplier, and maximum Power Charges.
  • Preload the Mines: The beauty of Mine Builds in PoE 3.25 is that you can throw a bunch of mines on the ground before a boss encounter begins. This will cause them to take massive amounts of damage immediately after the fight starts.
  • Do Not Be Afraid to Craft: Crafting items in Path of Exile can be daunting. However, doing so will allow you to create incredible stuff that can take you from zero to hero. Fortunately, we have a dedicated crafting guide for your perusal if you need some info.
  • Avoid Slams and Explosions: While the Power Siphon Trickster has enough defensive layers to survive T17 maps, avoid any slam attacks or Stygian corpse explosions as much as possible as they can kill you in an instant.
  • Get a Mageblood ASAP: Even though this is not mandatory for the build, the Mageblood makes your life a whole lot easier in PoE 3.25. Once you get a hold of it, do not forget to roll your flasks as well.
