Corrupting items in Path of Exile 2 is a fun way to get something incredible. Although some item corruptions may result in no change at all, you can actually improve your odds by using a particular item, which is going to be the topic of discussion in this article.

Today, we will talk about the Omen of Corruption in PoE 2. What is it and why is it a valuable piece to crafting items in Path of Exile 2? Don't worry, you will learn everything there is to know about it in this guide, so do read further!

Before we begin, if you'd like to get your hands on it, we have a healthy stock of Omen of Corruption available in our PoE 2 Store.

What is PoE 2 Omen of Corruption?

The Omen of Corruption is a type of currency in Path of Exile 2 that has the power to make your corruption outcome more unpredictable. You might be confused as to what this item does exactly. If you are baffled by it, we don't blame you. The description of the item is quite vague when you think about it.

However, the Omen of Corruption is actually quite powerful than initially thought. To understand how awesome it is, we need to first talk about its complementary item, the Vaal Orb.

The PoE 2 Vaal Orb is the item that you use if you want to corrupt an item, possibly granting it a modifier that may enhance your build. The corruption outcomes include:

  • Weapons and Armor
    • No Change
    • Adds a corrupted modifier (aka Vaal Enchantment)
    • Adds an additional socket to armor pieces and martial weapons
    • Rerolls the item's modifiers
  • Unique Items
    • No Change
    • Randomizes the numerical values of modifiers (similar to PoE 2 Divine Orbs). May increase the value of the unique modifier higher than its base upper limit (ex. If the numerical range of the modifier is 150% to 250%, the Vaal Orb could raise that to 300%)
    • Adds a random Vaal Enchantment
    • Adds an additional socket to martial weapons and armor pieces
  • Jewels
    • No Change
    • Removes an explicit mod (ex. 4 mods down to 3)
    • Adds a corrupted modifier
    • Reroll up to a few mods (resulting in new ones)

This is an example of an item that received a Vaal Enchantment using a Vaal Orb:

Now that you know what the Vaal Orb is used for, what does the Omen of Corruption do? Well, it basically removes the “No Change” outcome when utilizing the Vaal Orb on an item.

This leads to the inevitable increase in the odds of getting the other possible outcomes. In other words, the item will receive a change for sure while the Omen of Corruption is active!

How to Use the Omen of Corruption

The Omen of Corruption has to be activated prior to using the Vaal Orb. To do that, simply right-click on the Omen of Corruption. You will know if it’s active when you see the red-colored border surrounding it. After that, right-click on the Vaal Orb and then click the item you want to corrupt.

The ones that you can use the Vaal Orb on are highlighted, making it easier for you to distinguish the non-corrupted items from those that are already corrupted (and therefore, cannot be altered further).

If you have activated the Omen of Corruption by accident, simply right-click it again to deactivate it without any issues.

Where to Get Omen of Corruption

Unlike rares and unique items in Path of Exile 2, the Omen of Corruption cannot be obtained as a random drop by defeating monsters. Instead, you can get one as a possible reward from the Ritual Mechanic in maps.

If you don’t want to leave it to RNG, you can acquire the Omen of Corruption in the Currency Exchange. At the time of writing this guide, a single piece costs a little over 125 PoE 2 Exalted Orbs.

Of course, the easiest way to get one is to buy the Omen of Corruption from our PoE 2 Currency Store. We sell it for a very affordable price and it will be delivered to you in a jiffy after you complete the purchase!

Tips

Increase Your Odds of Finding One

As previously mentioned, the Omen of Corruption can be acquired when it shows up as a reward for completing the Ritual Mechanic in maps. Therefore, to increase your chances of finding the elusive PoE 2 Currency, there are a couple of things you can do.

The first is to allocate “Spreading Darkness” and “Ominous Portents” in your Atlas Skill Tree. The former guarantees that there will be four Ritual Altars on every map, while the latter increases the chance of Omens to spawn by 50%.

You can get Atlas passive points specifically for the Ritual Mechanic by defeating the King in the Mists. Interestingly, you need An Audience with the King to initiate the encounter, which also happens to be a random reward from the Ritual Altars.

The second thing you can do to improve your chances of acquiring the Omen of Corruption is to use Ritual Precursor Tablets. If you have some, don’t forget to enhance them with an Orb of Transmutation followed by an Orb of Augmentation.

If you are new to Path of Exile 2, Ritual Precursor Tablets add the Ritual Mechanic in maps that are close to the Precursor Tower they are inserted into. These tablets cover 5 to 10 maps within range.

Best Items to Corrupt

With how rare the Omen of Corruption is, you might want to save it only for the best items in Path of Exile 2. Here are some suggestions:

  • Morior Invictus
    • To achieve the fabled five-socket unique body armor
  • Ingenuity
    • To get increased effect of equipped rings higher than 80% (up to 97% is possible with the Omen of Corruption)
  • Hand of Wisdom and Action
    • To get 4% increased attack speed, and 1 to 12 lightning damage to attacks
  • Widowhail
    • Greatly enhances quiver bonuses by up to 305% (from 250% non-corrupted)
  • Rare Weapons
    • To obtain three sockets or a useful Vaal Enchantment

Utilize It After a Mirror-Tier Craft

When you have crafted an item worth a PoE 2 Mirror of Kalandra or a boatload of Divine Orbs, you’ll want to take things a step further by finishing the crafting project with an Omen of Corruption and a Vaal Orb.

For example, if you crafted body armor with 1,500 evasion and 550 energy shield, you could use the combination above to add another socket (for a total of three). This would then enable you to socket three Iron Runes into it, thus adding 60% increased EV and ES in the process!

So, the next time you do crafting in PoE 2, you might want to add the Omen of Corruption into the mix. Who knows, you might end up getting lucky with the outcome!

Final Thoughts

The Omen of Corruption is an interesting type of PoE 2 Currency that gives you a chance to craft something special. By using a Vaal Orb with the said currency active, you practically eliminate the “No Change” outcome, resulting in an item that has an additional socket, a random Vaal Enchantment, or a bunch of new modifiers.

If you get your hands on the Omen of Corruption, which item are you going to use it on and why? Do share your thoughts in the comments! After that, read our other PoE 2 guides to gain more knowledge about this awesome game!

Don’t forget, we have a PoE 2 Store that is open 24/7. You will find a huge selection of items, including the Omen of Corruption and Vaal Orb. There are some currency bundles available as well. What are you waiting for?
