Have you ever wondered what those items are in Path of Exile that look like the reverse of their original counterparts? For instance, a bow is always oriented to the right, but you have found a bow that appears to be facing the left.

Well, those items are known as Mirrored Items, and they are going to be the topic of discussion for this article. Read further to learn more about them and why they actually hold a lot of power, especially those that come from endgame crafted items.

What Are Mirrored Items?

To put it simply, a “mirrored item” in Path of Exile is a perfect copy of an item—with its exact modifiers and enchantments intact. It is often found as a random drop while mapping.

However, there are also a couple of ways that you can duplicate an item yourself. The first one is via the Mirror of Kalandra, and the second requires the Reflecting Mist. We will talk more about these PoE currencies later in the guide.

Anyway, the vast majority of mirrored items that you’ve acquired from random monster drops are typically considered garbage because of their lackluster mods or mediocre item base types.

In addition, there is no system in Path of Exile that tailors the random mirrored item to your specific build. To put it in another way, the ones that drop for you might not be the most ideal for your current character. You could utilize a loot filter to highlight such items, but that is just about what you can do on your end.

So, how can you tell if the loot you’ve just acquired is a mirrored item or not? Well, there are two telltale signs. The most obvious is that the item in question looks oriented in reverse compared to its “normal” version.

Just take a look at this bow:

The image above is a typical example of a PoE mirrored item. Why? Because normal bows are always facing right, such as this one:

What if you are a beginner and you’d like to have more proof that the loot you’ve obtained is truly a mirrored item? Is there anything you can do? If you’re unsure and need confirmation about this, simply hover your mouse over the item. If it says “Mirrored” at the bottom of its explicit modifiers, then that is all the evidence you need.

What is the Mirror of Kalandra?

As we have alluded to in this PoE mirrored items guide, the Mirror of Kalandra is one way to manually copy any item that you want in the game. However, before thinking about what items you could replicate, there are some important things that you need to know about this mythical PoE currency.

You see, the Mirror of Kalandra is the rarest currency item in the game. It is so incredibly rare, in fact, that even those who have played Path of Exile for more than 10 years still haven’t acquired one to this day!

So, how exactly do you get your hands on it? The easiest way is to acquire it from trusted currency platforms online. Our PoE Store here at RPGStash provides you with every type of currency that you want, including the highly coveted Mirror of Kalandra!

Another sure way to get some “Mirrors” is to have plenty of Divine Orbs ready and use them on PoE Trade. You will often find players selling them for a hefty price.

In addition, you could collect some specific Divination Cards, particularly the House of Mirrors and Unrequited Love. The latter card only grants 19 Mirror Shards, so you will need a couple of sets to complete the whole mirror.

Those are the only feasible options if you want a realistic way of obtaining a Mirror of Kalandra. Otherwise, you hope that the RNG gods bless you someday and it is given to you as a random drop!

If the Mirror of Kalandra is that rare, how is it best utilized then? Okay, so you already know that it creates a perfect copy of an existing item, right? And, since it is so hard to obtain one through natural means, you have to make sure to use it only on god-tier items. Such things are also known as “mirror-tier items” by the Path of Exile community, in case you don’t know.

Aside from creating duplicates of mirror-tier items, you could use the Mirror of Kalandra as a form of currency for trading as well. As it stands, a single Mirror has an average price of 850 Divine Orbs in PoE Trade. You could sell one for a huge profit, assuming that you have it in your possession.

How to Use the Mirror of Kalandra for Trade?

Let’s say that you already have at least one Mirror of Kalandra with you, and you’ve decided to buy a mirror-tier bow for your Tornado Shot Deadeye. You’ve looked far and wide, and your search has led you to someone in PoE Trade.

You’ve finally found a crafted bow that you like, and it is being sold for the price of one mirror. Cool, that’s great! But hold your horses! Do not purchase it yet without knowing this important bit of info!

Mirror-tier items in PoE are often priced at one Mirror of Kalandra each. However, you do not actually trade the said currency itself. Instead, there is a service fee that you have to pay before the seller agrees to copy the endgame item for you.

In other words, the Mirror of Kalandra that you will give them is just to create a duplicate of your favorite item. You still have to use some Divine Orbs to pay for the “Mirror Service.”

How about those items that are being sold for more than one mirror, then? In this scenario, you give a Mirror of Kalandra to the seller solely to create a copy of the item. The rest is used for payment.

What Are Mirror-Tier Items?

If you have come this far on our Path of Exile mirrored items guide, we thank you! You might have noticed that we’ve used the term “mirror-tier items” several times now. But what are those, exactly?

PoE mirror-tier items are things that have insane modifiers on them. Think about synthesized items with three implicit modifiers that would have you drooling over! Look at this ring, for example:

mirror-tier_synthesized_ring_in_Path_of_Exile

As you can see, this particular mirror-tier item is a synthesized ring that is perfect for builds such as the Ice Nova of Frostbolts Hierophant or others that utilize Power Charges to gain a lot of critical strike chance.

People call items such as the one pictured above “mirror-tier” only because they have modifiers that are extremely rare yet highly coveted (as is the case with the currency, Mirror of Kalandra).

A mirror-tier item in Path of Exile doesn’t just drop randomly, though; it has to be crafted from the ground up. If you are interested in learning about the exact process, then listen carefully!

The first thing that you need to do is to get a synthesized item. You can either purchase one from another player or create it yourself. If you opt for the latter, you need to secure a crafting base of Magic Rarity (blue text) and have an item level of 86+ to get the best Tier 1 modifiers possible.

For example, if you want to create the endgame bow for the Lightning Arrow Deadeye, you need to use a Spine Bow because of its relatively high base attack speed and critical strike chance.

Once you have the ideal base to craft on, go to your hideout and head to the Horticrafting Station. Press Ctrl+F, then type “Synthesise,” and choose the only option that pops up. This will allow you to put random synthesized implicit modifiers on your item for the price of 5,000 Vivid Crystallised Lifeforce and 1 Sacred Crystallised Lifeforce.

Crafting_Imprint_Process

Take note that this process can only be done once. That is why it is a good idea to create an imprint of the item before proceeding. An imprint, in this context, is simply a “save state,” if you will.

To create an imprint, purchase the “Craicic Chimeral” on PoE Trade and right-click on it. This opens up the option to create a copy of a magic item in the Menagerie. We suggest that you save at least five imprints before you begin synthesizing your crafting base, just so that you can save time.

Imprinting_Crafting_Base

Once you’ve finished imprinting your crafting base, begin synthesizing it. The ideal outcome would be having an item that has three implicit modifiers. This occurs one out of 16 times on average, but you could get lucky and do it in fewer attempts.

Synthesizing_Implicit_Modifiers

If the process yielded a crappy set of implicit modifiers, use the imprints you created earlier to begin anew. Once you are happy with the result, you can start crafting endgame items in PoE!

The Limitations of Mirrored Items in PoE

So, you’ve finally managed to have a god-tier item mirrored using the Mirror of Kalandra. You think to yourself that one of its modifiers could use a bit of tweaking. Unfortunately, PoE mirrored items have certain limitations that you must be aware of.

Chief among them is that they can no longer be altered in any way, shape, or form. All the modifiers on the mirrored item are already set in stone, meaning what you see is what you get.

The only things that can be changed are the anointment on the amulet or the enchantment on the rings. This is possible by using the Reflective Oil along with the other oils necessary for the anointment/enchantment you want to put on your accessories.

Tips

There is no doubt that the Mirror of Kalandra is useful in terms of preserving endgame mirror-tier items and getting a ton of PoE Currency. But what do you actually do when you get your hands on it? Well, here are some practical tips:

Do Some Research

In every new league in Path of Exile, some changes might alter the landscape regarding what build is popular. Look at the game’s forums and dedicated subreddit to discover which PoE builds are being discussed, so you will know the mirrored items you can sell on trade for an enormous profit!

Collect Specific Divination Cards

Purchasing a complete Mirror of Kalandra requires you to spend an excessive amount of Divine Orbs. If you do not have the quantity of Divines needed to make the purchase, there is an alternative approach you can take, and that is to get some specific Divination Cards.

The Divination Cards in question are the Unrequited Love and the House of Mirrors. Both of them are expensive, but they are more accessible given that they’re sold at a much cheaper price than the whole Mirror of Kalandra.

Best Items to Duplicate

Aside from crafted mirror-tier items in PoE, the only items that are worth using the Mirror of Kalandra on are weapons and accessories. Now, there are a couple of reasons for this.

First, only weapons, rings, and amulets come with implicit modifiers that you actually want for your PoE builds. Body armors, even though they are synthesized ones, have less-than-stellar mods than the aforementioned items.

Second, when you plan on creating a copy of an endgame weapon, make sure that it contains only white sockets. This is because you cannot change the socket colors anymore when the item is already a duplicate of an existing one.

Make an Imprint of Your Crafting Bases

Veteran crafters in Path of Exile always make imprints of their items before synthesizing them via the Harvest Bench. The reason why this is crucial is that you can only synthesize an item once. Imprints allow you to restore an item to its previous state so you can synthesize it over again.

Keep in mind that imprinting can only be done on an item with Magic Rarity (denoted by its blue text). Furthermore, fractured, corrupted, and even synthesized items cannot be imprinted by the Craicic Chimeral.

Use the Reflecting Mist for Some Wild Outcomes

Reflecting_Mist_mechanic

The Reflecting Mist is both a mechanic and a form of currency in Path of Exile. In most cases, you will encounter an odd-looking white circle that creates two versions of an item. Both of them have the exact type of modifiers, albeit some of their values may be reversed.

For example, one of those modifiers has a “+” to maximum life, while the other comes with a “-” to maximum life. As you can see, this particular mechanic may result in some pretty awesome outcomes if you are lucky!

Reflecting_Mist_item_effect

How about the Reflecting Mist in its currency form? For those who don’t know, the Reflecting Mist can sometimes turn into a currency item, though the chance of this happening is quite rare.

Reflecting_Mist_currency

Having said that, you actually want the Reflecting Mist (currency) so that you can use it on an item for some crazy good modifiers. The only limitation here is that it is only usable on rings and amulets.

It should be noted that the Reflecting Mist cannot be used on an item already duplicated by the Mirror of Kalandra. That’s why you must craft the accessory first, use the Reflecting Mist, and then copy it with the mirror.

Final Thoughts

Mirrored items, at least those that were created using specific PoE Currencies, have the potential to take your build to the top. The Mirror of Kalandra, due to its value and rarity, must only be used on a well-crafted “mirror-tier” item to make it count.

The Reflecting Mist also creates a mirrored copy of an existing item, albeit some of the mods of the resulting outcome are reversed. This could lead to some awesome accessories, though your mileage may vary.

We hope our Path of Exile mirrored items guide has provided you with the knowledge that you seek. Now that you know these things, will you get your hands on a mirror-tier item anytime soon?
