Song of the Elves Walkthrough
This part of the guide will take you on a complete walkthrough of Song of the Elves. As it's pretty lengthy and complex, we're going to be as detailed as possible.
Starting Off
Required Items:
- Steel full helm
- Steel platebody
- Steel platelegs
- Red dye
- Purple dye
- One piece of silk
- For efficiency, bring your mourner gear and a tinderbox.
Recommended Items:
- Stamina potion
- Weight-reducing clothing
- Ardougne teleport
- West Ardougne teleport
To initiate the quest, approach Edmond, located in the garden of his residence in East Ardougne, just north of the Flying Horse Inn. (If necessary, you can obtain a cabbage and spade from his garden.) Edmond will inform you that Elena has been imprisoned by the Knights of Ardougne for allegedly spreading dissent about the plague. Agree to assist him and proceed to speak with King Lathas in his castle, situated to the south.
When conversing with King Lathas, ensure you are not wearing Mourner gear. He will justify Elena's imprisonment as a precaution against jeopardizing the city's safety amidst the looming threat of the Dark Lord. Afterward, report back to Edmond, detailing your actions since the events of the Plague City quest. Edmond will reveal Elena's location in the city prison beneath the castle and enlist your help to liberate her.
Equip the steel full helm, steel platebody, and steel platelegs. Apply the red dye to the steel full helm to obtain an Ardougne knight helm. Then, speak with Alrena, Edmond's wife, to receive a tabard. Use the tabard on the steel platebody to acquire an Ardougne knight platebody. If you lack the required Defence level to equip steel platelegs, consult Edmond to transform them into Ardougne knight platelegs.
Return to Edmond, who will direct you to the prison located below the castle.
Dialogue with Elena in the city prison:
Descend to the Ardougne Castle basement, where a guard will halt your progress. Provide the alias "Tim" or "Sue" to proceed. Speak with Elena in her cell, where she will express her desire to escape via a grate leading to the Ardougne Sewers. She requests sulphuric acid to dissolve the grate, which can be found in a cabinet at her home. Visit Elena's residence, situated east of Edmond's house near the log balance. Retrieve the vial of clear liquid from the cabinet.
After delivering the sulphuric acid to Elena, return to Edmond while she makes her escape. He will inform you of her successful evasion and reveal her whereabouts at the Rehnison household in West Ardougne, situated directly west of the Mourner's Headquarters. Consult Ted or Martha Rehnison, who will direct you to the resistance's hideout in their basement.
Encounter with the Ardougne Resistance:
Elena explains the purpose of the Ardougne Resistance, established to expose the plague hoax and overthrow King Lathas. After exchanging information about your undercover activities, Councillor Halgrive devises a plan for you, disguised as a Knight of Ardougne, to incite unrest under the guise of royal orders, potentially undermining the king's authority.
The Insurrection
Required Items:
- Ardougne knight armor
- Mourner gear
- Tinderbox
Recommended Items:
- Stamina potion
- Prayer potion
- Armor
- Weapon
- Food
This part of the quest will require specific steps to complete so that you can successfully recruit the Ardougne Resistance. In total, you must convert a total of 80 members, and each action will contribute to your cause.
In West Ardougne, don your mourner attire and make sure to do the following:
- Set food ablaze to cause problems within the community.
- Convince the priest to impose additional taxes (+6).
- Ignite grain sacks within the church (+8).
- Inform Nurse Sarah of impending tax hikes (+6).
- Set fire to grain sacks near the general store (+8).
- Apprise Chadwell of new taxes in the general store (+4).
- Incite chaos by burning grain sacks in the Civic Office (+8).
In East Ardougne, assume the guise of an Ardougne Knight and enact the following:
- Announce tax increases to a silver merchant.
- Inform various market square denizens of the new taxes:
- Silk merchant (+2)
- West Baker (+4)
- East Baker (+4)
- Silver merchant (+2)
- Gem merchant (+2)
- Fur trader (+2)
- Spice seller (+2)
- Town Crier (+8)
- Discuss tax adjustments with Zenesha, the armorer (+3).
- Inform the estate agent of the new taxes (+2).
- Notify Probita at the Pet Store of tax changes (+2).
- Update Kortan or Aemad in the general store about taxes (+4).
- Consult the priest in the church regarding tax policies (+6).
- Convince Doctor Orbon in the church about the need for retraining (+6).
- Inform Richard at the farm about tax alterations (+4).
- Kindle grain sacks outside the northern farm (+4).
- Discuss tax hikes with the Bartender at the Flying Horse Inn (+6).
- Set fire to fish barrels at the Ardougne docks (+4).
Once you've recruited 80 members, prepare for the initial battle by banking your items.
The confrontation occurs in an instanced area, where all unprotected items will relocate outside the instance upon death. Return to the Rehnison Household in West Ardougne to initiate the battle alongside Elena.
The battle unfolds in three phases, with resistance fighters aiding you. Employ "Protect from Melee" or high-level armor to mitigate damage. Alternatively, use Guthan's equipment or mage tactics for efficiency.
First Phase: Eliminate 10 Mourners of varying levels.
Second Phase: Descend via the trapdoor and dispatch 11 Mourners.
- Note: Upon re-entry, you'll begin on the lower level without needing to repeat the initial phase.
After the second phase, replenish supplies if necessary and speak with Elena or Councillor Halgrive to commence the battle in East Ardougne.
Battle in East Ardougne:
- Face off against various guards and paladins to overthrow King Lathas.
- Engage in combat with:
- Knight of Ardougne (level 27) (5)
- Paladin (level 49) (6)
- Knight of Ardougne (level 53) (2)
- Paladin (level 121) (2)
Upon defeating King Lathas' guards, witness a cutscene where the resistance exposes King Lathas' hiding spot. Interrogate him about his actions throughout the quest series. Ultimately, the citizens sentence him to death. Subsequently, Hooded Figures will incapacitate you and transport you to the Iorwerth Camp.
Arianwyn's Plan
A lengthy cutscene ensues, during which you and Elena are brought before Lord Iorwerth. Just as it seems you both are to be taken prisoner, a sudden intervention occurs. Arianwyn and the elf resistance materialize, orchestrating a daring rescue. In the ensuing confrontation, Lord Iorwerth reveals a startling revelation: he deceived King Lathas to gain access to West Ardougne, intending to reach the Temple of Light to summon Seren. Arianwyn vehemently disputes this, asserting Seren's demise. However, Lord Iorwerth shares a shocking discovery-he managed to breach one of the seals within the Grand Library, uncovering a fragment of Seren trapped within the Temple. This revelation leaves the rebels bewildered.
Acknowledging the potential utility of the rebels in his own machinations, Lord Iorwerth opts to release them, confident they remain oblivious to his true intentions.
Upon returning to Lletya, Arianwyn calls for a crucial assembly and tasks you with informing Ysgawyn and Elena. Ysgawyn can be located on the upper platform of Lletya; ensure you speak with him first. Subsequently, seek out Elena in the south-western corner near the pond. It's imperative to converse with Ysgawyn before Elena will make an appearance. After conferring with Elena, return to Arianwyn and engage him in conversation to initiate the pivotal meeting.
During the meeting, a detailed account of elven history unfolds-from the aftermath of the God Wars to the ongoing civil strife, culminating in the reversion of the city of Prifddinas to a crystalline seed, including the revered Grand Library. Lord Iorwerth's claim of accessing the Grand Library adds another layer of intrigue. It is unanimously agreed that you and Arianwyn will embark on an investigative journey to the Waterfall Dungeon, seeking insights into King Baxtorian's legacy and any potential revelations concerning the fragment of Seren.
Before proceeding, ensure you speak with Arianwyn following the meeting, as his presence is pivotal for your forthcoming expedition to Baxtorian Falls.
To Baxtorian Falls
Items Needed:
- Nature rune
- Rope
- Flowers from mithril seeds or irit leaf
- Cabbage
- Wine of Zamorak or Zamorak brew(4)
- Adamant chainbody
- Black knife or black dagger
Items Recommended:
- Games necklace
- Teleport crystal (to return to Lletya)
Begin your journey by traveling to the Waterfall Dungeon, ensuring you have a rope on hand for entry. Navigate to the eastern chamber populated by skeletons and skeleton mages. Search the northern stacked crate to acquire a key. Proceed to the adjacent western chamber inhabited by fire giants, passing through two single doors.
Engage in conversation with Arianwyn within the western chamber. He will entrust you with a book titled "Ode to Eternity," containing a riddle that unveils a hidden puzzle within the tomb. Carefully examine the riddle and the items in your possession to decipher the correct sequence.
The puzzle involves placing items on designated pillars scattered throughout the tomb's chambers. Each item corresponds to a specific number, and the pillars provide clues to guide your placement. Take note of the following guidelines:
- South-west pillar: Indicates its corresponding number. Place the item associated with this number on this pillar.
- West pillar: States that it is not opposite of a number. Place the item corresponding to this number on the south-east pillar.
- North-west pillar: Indicates the number it is next to. Place the item corresponding to this number on the west pillar.
- North-east pillar: Identifies the number it is opposite to. Place the item corresponding to this number on the north-west pillar.
- East pillar: Mentions the number it is not next to. Place the item corresponding to this number on the east pillar.
- South-east pillar: Specifies the number not going on the pillar. Place the item corresponding to this number on the north-east pillar.
Carefully follow these instructions to arrange the items correctly on the pillars. Upon completing the puzzle, the statue of Baxtorian will animate, bringing him to life once more. Arianwyn will then facilitate Baxtorian's teleportation back to Lletya.
Take this opportunity to bank and prepare for the next phase of your adventure. Once ready, utilize your teleportation method to return to Lletya and continue your quest.
Entering Prifddinas
Items Needed:
- Cadantine seed
- Seed dibber
- Runite bar
- Hammer
- Pickaxe
- Pestle and mortar
- Vial of water
Items Recommended:
- Antipoison
- Teleport crystal (only if searching for Lord Amlodd before Lady Trahaearn)
Upon returning to Lletya, engage in conversation with Baxtorian and Arianwyn. Baxtorian suggests a potential method to infiltrate the Grand Library of Prifddinas, which involves creating a special potion to bypass the enchanted city walls. He believes that Lord Amlodd, a skilled mage, can assist in breaking the spell.
Your first task is to concoct the potion. Speak with Elena by the pond, and plant a cadantine seed in the nearby farming patch, treated to yield elder cadantine. While waiting for the seed to mature, check with Arianwyn and Baxtorian for any additional tasks.
Since much of the quest occurs in the perilous elven lands, it's wise to have an anti-poison potion on hand, given the abundance of traps.
Consult Baxtorian to learn the whereabouts of Lord Amlodd and Lady Trahaearn. Lady Trahaearn's clue leads you south from the well, while Lord Amlodd entrusted you with a crystal seed.
Visit Eluned, situated northwest of the cadantine patch, to enchant the crystal seed before proceeding.
Finding Lady Trahaearn
Embark west of Lletya, maneuvering past the dire wolves and dense forests until reaching the cave entrance to the Underground Pass. Navigate through the pass to locate Lady Trahaearn trapped behind a blocked crevice. Utilize your pickaxe to clear the obstruction, revealing Lady Trahaearn in need of repair. Use the runite bar and hammer to mend her exoskeleton, allowing her to teleport back to Lletya.
Finding Lord Amlodd
Activate the enchanted crystal seed to teleport to the Enchanted Valley, where you'll encounter a Mysterious Figure. Engage in conversation, and regardless of your response, the figure will reveal himself as Lord Amlodd before teleporting you back to Lletya.
Making the Potion
Once both Lady Trahaearn and Lord Amlodd are located, retrieve the elder cadantine from Elena and the old crystal from Arianwyn. Grind the old crystal into dust using a pestle and mortar. Combine the elder cadantine with water in a vial, then add the crystal dust to create the inversion potion.
Present the potion to Arianwyn to initiate a meeting. Despite objections from Ysgawyn, the group ultimately decides that you are best suited to enter the Grand Library. Speak with Lord Amlodd once more to teleport to your destination.

Lord Cryws And Lady Helfin
Items Needed:
- An axe
Items Recommended:
- Iorwerth camp teleport
- Antipoison
- Teleport crystal
- Weight-reducing clothing
Once you have these items, return to Arianwyn in Lletya to report your discoveries from the Grand Library. A meeting will be called to discuss your findings, during which Ysgawyn will accuse you of lying and demand your arrest. However, Baxtorian believes in your findings and allows you to continue reporting. Arianwyn, still in shock, will ask Baxtorian to lead temporarily.
Your next task is to search for Lord Crwys and Lady Hefin. Ask Baxtorian for clues on how to find each of them.
Finding Lord Crwys
- Clue: "The trees of my home will call to me"
- Location: South of the Iorwerth Camp, on the western side of Isafdar.
Use an Iorwerth camp teleport scroll for quick access. Beware of Iorwerth elves who will attack on sight. Cross the log balance and head southwest. You'll pass a stick trap to enter the clearing. Chop the dead tree northwest of the lake (or west of the trap) to free Lord Crwys. You can't cut the tree without the clue from Baxtorian.
Finding Lady Hefin
- Clue: "I will walk across the water to the south"
- Location: South of the village, beyond the magic trees.
Leave the village through the west trees and head south past the magic trees. Continue further south and jump across stepping stones over the tar lake until you reach a small island with an NPC and tent. Talk to the Elf Hermit, who is Lady Hefin in disguise. After a brief conversation, Return to Lletya and speak to Baxtorian. After a short cutscene and dialogue, the other NPCs will leave. Make sure to talk to Baxtorian to progress, as you won't be able to enter the cave in the next part otherwise.
Recovering The Orb
Items Needed:
- Armour and weapons
Items Recommended:
- Food and prayer potions (if low level)
- Charged teleport crystal to return quickly
- Iorwerth camp teleport
The battle takes place within an instanced area, where all unprotected items will be relocated to a grave outside the instance upon death. As you approach the Iorwerth Camp, exercise caution as the resident elves will attack you on sight. Enter the cave located at the camp's northern end and engage in dialogue to initiate the confrontation with the Iorwerth Warrior and Archer.
During the skirmish, aim to position the warrior behind the archer to minimize incoming damage. If this tactic isn't feasible, prioritize defeating the warrior while utilizing protective prayers. Subsequently, focus your attention on dispatching the archer. Once the elves are defeated, claim the orb of light from the chest within the cave.
With the orb secured, promptly make your way back to Lletya and report your success to Baxtorian to advance further in the quest.
Before embarking on the mission to confront Ysgawyn and uncover his suspicious activities, it's advisable to come prepared with essential items. Ensure you have ample provisions, including food for sustenance during your journey, and antipoison to counter any potential hazards along the way. Additionally, equip yourself with suitable gear and items necessary for the impending attack on Lletya.
The Search For Ysgawyn
Items Needed: Food and anti-poison gear for the next section
Note: Before proceeding, make sure to charge your teleport crystals as it will be long before you get the opportunity to do this again.
To initiate the search for Ysgawyn, speak privately with Baxtorian, who entrusts you with the task. He divulges that Elena, located near the pond where you previously planted the cadantine seed, may have information about Ysgawyn's whereabouts. Approach Elena and engage in conversation, selecting the second dialogue option. Though she claims ignorance about Ysgawyn's current location, she suggests investigating for tracks near the entrance to Lletya.
As you embark on the tracking mission, be vigilant and cautious of the forest traps that lie ahead. Head westward from the village entrance and carefully inspect the mossy rock or mushroom, taking care to evade any lurking dire wolves. This action initiates the tracking sequence akin to hunting kebbits.
Continue to follow the tracks diligently, inspecting various landmarks along the way. Be sure to hop over trip wires and navigate through obstacles with caution. Eventually, you'll encounter Iestin and Ysgawyn, prompting a crucial confrontation. Engage in dialogue with them, prepared to accuse Ysgawyn of betrayal.
During the intense exchange, Ysgawyn reveals his dealings with Iestin Edern, an informant within the Iorwerth clan who provided crucial information about the orb of light. This revelation sheds light on Ysgawyn's actions and motives, leading to pivotal decisions in the unfolding events. Choose your responses wisely as the situation escalates, ultimately culminating in a critical cutscene revealing Lord Iorwerth's discovery of Lletya and the impending threat it faces.
Attacking Lletya
Required Items:
- Combat equipment
Recommended Items:
- Food and prayer potion (if low level)
- Emergency teleport
- Charged teleport crystal for quick return
Note: Upon death, all unclaimed items will be lost in an unsafe death. You can retrieve lost items by paying 80,000 Rebel Scout Coins to the Rebel Scout.
Upon a distressing cutscene with Ysgawyn, Iestin, and Elena, you're entrusted with a crucial mission: rescuing two children trapped within a burning building ravaged by Lord Iorwerth's onslaught. Venture southward into the inferno and meticulously scour the 1st and 2nd floors (specific locations vary) for the imperiled children amidst the chaos. Evade towering flames blocking unauthorized areas. An escape barricade located west of the instance permits replenishment of supplies before the impending showdown with Level-212 Arianwyn.
Upon saving the children, a harrowing revelation transpires in a subsequent cutscene. Lord Iorwerth unveils Arianwyn as the supposed traitor, coerced into betrayal to safeguard one of the children by surrendering the Orb of Light to Essyllt. Ysgawyn's valiant retaliation culminates in his tragic demise at Essyllt's hands, inciting an ensuing confrontation with Arianwyn to reclaim the Orb.
As you enter the instance, promptly invoke Protect from Missiles prayer. Employ hit-and-run tactics, wielding melee gear against Arianwyn. Remain vigilant to the color of his arrows, each indicative of distinct attacks:
- Green Arrows: Regular ranged attacks, mitigated with Protect from Missiles.
- Orange Arrows: High-damage explosives, evadable by retreating one step.
- Purple Arrows: Disables active prayers temporarily.
Following the arduous battle, a poignant funeral for Ysgawyn ensues amidst deliberations on future actions. Islwyn's fervent resolve leads him to venture into the Underground Pass, vowing solitary confrontation with the Iorwerth.
During ensuing discussions, Baxtorian discloses vital clues pertaining to Lady Ithell and Lady Meilyr, furnishing you with a clue scroll. Utilize this interim period to restock requisite items from the bank in preparation for the forthcoming phase of your quest.

The Fight With The Dark Lord
The final part of the quest tasks you with beating the Fragment of Seren.
In the confrontation with the Fragment of Seren, meticulous planning and adaptation to her diverse attack patterns are imperative for a successful outcome. Below is a comprehensive breakdown of the encounter along with elaborated recommendations for effective combat strategies.
Enemy Weakness and Attack Patterns:
- Vulnerability to Magic: Exploit the Fragment's susceptibility to magic attacks, leveraging spells to inflict maximum damage.
- Melee and Ranged Strikes: The Fragment alternates between ranged and melee assaults based on the player's proximity. Standing afar prompts ranged attacks, while standing in close proximity triggers swift melee strikes.
- Special Attacks Rotation: Throughout the engagement, the Fragment cycles through a sequence of specialized assaults:
- Teleportation: Suddenly transports the player adjacent to her, followed swiftly by a punishing melee strike.
- Cloning Maneuver: Generates numerous replicas of herself, concealing her true form among them. Discerning and targeting the authentic Fragment dispels the illusions.
- Healing Barrier: Envelops herself in a network of crimson crystal beams, each endowed with the ability to regenerate her health until eradicated by any form of attack.
- Unblockable Charge: Teleports the player into close proximity before initiating an indomitable charge, delivering an unremitting assault based on the player's total hitpoints, potentially causing catastrophic damage.
Strategic Recommendations:
- Exploit Magical Weakness: Capitalize on the Fragment's vulnerability to magic by employing potent magical spells or enchanted weaponry, maximizing your offensive potential.
- Maintain Safe Distance: Adhere to a strategy of maintaining a safe distance from the Fragment to mitigate the risk of her formidable melee onslaughts. Employ the Protect from Missiles prayer to diminish the impact of ranged attacks.
- Attentiveness to Special Attacks: Maintain heightened awareness of the Fragment's specialized maneuvers and adapt your tactics accordingly:
- Teleportation: Swiftly maneuver away following teleportation to evade imminent melee strikes.
- Cloning Maneuver: Employ keen observation to identify the genuine Fragment amidst her illusions, swiftly dispelling the false duplicates.
- Healing Barrier: Prioritize the expeditious annihilation of the crimson crystal beams enveloping the Fragment to prevent her health regeneration, utilizing rapid-fire weaponry or spells for optimal efficiency.
- Unblockable Charge: Ensure your hitpoints are maintained near maximum capacity to withstand the unrestrained force of the Fragment's unblockable charge, thereby averting potential incapacitation.
- Adaptive Strategy: As the confrontation progresses and the Fragment's vitality diminishes, anticipate an escalation in the potency of her special attacks. Adjust your tactics dynamically to navigate the escalating challenge level effectively.
Recommended Setup For Fragment Of Seren
Equipment:
- Mage Robes: Equip mage attire such as mystic robes, ancestral robes, void knight equipment, or bloodbark armor (for use with blood spells) to enhance magical prowess and defense against the Fragment's assaults.
- Trident of the Swamp: Ensure the Trident possesses a minimum of 300 charges to sustain prolonged engagements. Alternatively, opt for a weapon capable of autocasting Ancient Magicks, such as the ancient staff or master wand, if employing blood spells.
- Toxic Blowpipe or Ranged Weapon: Carry a toxic blowpipe, magic shortbow, or darts specifically for targeting the Fragment's pillars if required during the encounter. This can be omitted based on the chosen strategy.
- Items with Magic Bonus: Equip accessories boasting a magic bonus, such as the seers ring, occult necklace, imbued god capes, tormented bracelet, tome of fire, or book of the dead, to augment magical capabilities and maximize damage output.
Inventory:
- Weapon Switch: Consider bringing a weapon switch, such as the Toxic Blowpipe, to adapt to varying combat scenarios efficiently.
- Emergency Teleport: Include an emergency teleportation method within the inventory to facilitate swift escape in dire situations.
- Rune Pouch: Opt to carry a rune pouch for convenient access to essential runes, streamlining spellcasting during combat.
- Stacks of Runes: Stock up on requisite runes corresponding to selected spells, ensuring uninterrupted spellcasting throughout the engagement.
- Super Restores and Saradomin Brews: Maintain a balanced inventory ratio of 1:3 between Super Restores and Saradomin Brews. Super Restores replenish prayer points, while Saradomin Brews restore both health and prayer, enhancing sustainability and endurance during prolonged encounters. Adjust quantities based on personal preference and combat proficiency.
Strategy
- Preparation: Consume a dose of Saradomin brew and super restore prior to engaging in the boss fight to bolster health and prayer points.
- Combat Stance: Upon entering the fray, activate Protect from Missiles and augment magical prowess with Mystic Might or Augury for enhanced magic attacks. Consider employing Rapid Heal and Steel Skin for additional defensive capabilities if prayer level and bonus permit.
- Engagement: Focus on dealing damage to the Fragment until she summons the pillars. Once the pillars emerge, prioritize destroying them swiftly. As the pillars dissipate, promptly consume Saradomin brews until health reaches or surpasses maximum Hitpoints level.
- Special Attack: Prepare for the Fragment's unavoidable special attack, which inflicts damage up to maximum Hitpoints minus one. Following the assault, replenish health with Saradomin brews and maintain magical proficiency by consuming two doses of super restore potion promptly.
- Adaptation: For users of blood spells, exercise caution as Saradomin brew consumption may disrupt spellcasting. Adjust autocast settings to a lower-level spell or ensure high magic levels before resuming attacks on the Fragment. Keep auto-retaliate off to avoid unintentional melee engagement during brew consumption.
- Iterative Approach: Repeat steps 3-5 throughout the encounter, remaining vigilant for opportunities to replenish health and sustain magical efficacy. Adapt potion consumption according to combat exigencies, maintaining a balance between Saradomin brews and super restore potions.
Alternative Strategies:
- Blood Spell Utilization: Employ blood spells judiciously to mitigate reliance on Saradomin brews. Utilize blood spells to sustain Hitpoints during combat, reducing overall brew consumption and simplifying potion management.
- Phoenix Necklace Tactic: Activate a phoenix necklace moments before the Fragment's final special attack to nullify incoming damage temporarily. This strategy necessitates timely activation and careful management of health and potion usage.
- Redemption Technique: Execute the Redemption prayer strategy by ensuring maximum Hitpoints pre-special attack, activating Redemption prayer, consuming super restores promptly, and maintaining Protect from Missiles. Mastery of prayer flicking is essential for optimal efficacy.
By implementing these strategies with precision and adaptability, adventurers can navigate the challenges posed by the Fragment of Seren encounter, maximizing survivability and combat effectiveness in this formidable confrontation.
