Game Guides , Runescape
OSRS Leagues 5 Raging Echoes has been out for almost 3 weeks now. Many builds were created and all of the content has been explored. Players have already started creating their second account builds, and some are just recently starting their Leagues journey on brand new accounts. You don’t have to feel missed out since this League will continue for another 5-6 weeks. Whether you are going for your second account build or you are just starting out you will need to create an optimal account build and path for your character to take. We have created some guides for this before:
But these were created before Leagues launched so with everything we know now can greatly change these. This guide will explore the strongest builds that you can do in Leagues to have the easiest journey possible and rack up the most points.
There are a lot of builds in raging echoes but when we talk about the strongest there are two that exist that dominate the game and leave every other build in the dust. This does not invalidate other builds but these two which we will explore have an edge that others do not have. Just with any build related to Leagues, you can modify these builds and pathways to your desire by keeping the core elements intact. Let’s first talk about the melee build.
Melee Build
This melee build is not the one we have already explained in our “Best Builds for Every Combat Style Guide.” The build mentioned there is the best in terms of an auto-attack build. This build, on the other hand, is all about special attacking, which turns out to be quite overpowered against most things in Leagues. Here are the regions that you can pick for this build:
Wilderness, Varlamore, Morytania: This route is the best of both worlds by allowing you to have access to the second-best in-slot melee ring and amulet in the game while also providing you with a chance to get mega-rare items. The combination of these regions also provides a ton of points due to the overwhelming amount of PVM activities that reside in each one of these regions. If you are afraid of Echo Sol Heredit, don’t be; as we will explain later in this guide, you will be able to slay that boss within 30 seconds.
Wilderness, Fremennik, Morytania: This route is an alternative to this build. In Fremennik, you will be able to acquire your best in-slot ring and amulet while still having access to a construction shop for easy points. The choice is honestly open depending on the content you want to do. With Varlamore, you will be able to get the Sunlight Spear and Bracers alongside the best in-slot Ranged cape. However, in Fremennik, you can do a lot more easy tasks and get an upgrade for your jewelry slots. Although this is not an objective point, killing Sol Heredit in 30 seconds is quite fun, and I won’t be lying if I say you are missing out.
The essential part of this build is the Wilderness, since it houses the Thunder Khopesh, the strongest special attack weapon in the Leagues, out DPSing any other weapon. The other two regions can be changed, but we highly recommend you pick one of the two paths shown above. The Fremennik one is more optimal, and the Varlamore is more fun.
Relics
Relics are mostly personal preferences aside from a few.
Tier 1
Animal Wrangler is a must choice for these regions. This relic is the strongest tier 1 relic overall, and it also synergizes really well with the regions we have presented. Wilderness has the “equip 500 black chinchompas” task, which yields 390 points in total, and Varlamore has Tecu Salamander tasks that total up to 400 points. Alongside the general tasks of catching chins and implings, this relic provides an incredible source for points while also providing the best AFK training method, allowing you to get 50M Cooking and Fishing without even paying attention.
Tier 2
This one is up to your personal preference between Dodgy Deals and Friendly Forager. If you are going Wilderness, Varlamore, and Morytania, you will have access to two farming patch locations which are great. This makes it viable to go for Dodgy Deals to pickpocket Vyres. The other route is also fine although you will be losing the Varlamore patch you will be gaining a disease-free patch in Weiss. You can decide this by your tier 7 relic choice, if you are going to go for the overgrown relic by sacrificing some of your DPS you can go Dodgy Deals if not we strongly suggest Friendly Forager.
Tier 3
Clue compass without any competition at all. The ability to teleport to your clue step alongside so many niche locations is unmatched in this tier. You will also be able to teleport directly to the barrows chest which is a huge plus in Morytania.
Tier 4
Once again this is a personal preference but if you want to speedrun your points in Leagues you can pick the Golden God. Picking Golden God will allow you to get 50M Magic and Construction experience within days, alongside 99 Prayer within your first day of playing but this is not an optimal choice for this build as we have access to the Wilderness which is an incredible source of supplies, money and bones for Prayer training. It will be slower than the Golden God but you will still be able to have enough money for everything that you need.
This leaves us with Reloaded and Equilibrium. We recommend picking reloaded into Dodgy Deals or Friendly Forager depending on the one you didn’t pick. Equilibrium is also a solid choice that will speed up any training you do and synergizes extremely well with the Friendly Forager relic. I have an account with both of these relics and almost 40% of my Herblore experience is from Equilibrium.
Tier 5
For this build, we will be picking the Slayer Master Relic to maximize our damage with the Slayer Helmet whilst also getting a lot of Larran’s Keys from the Wilderness.
Tier 6
Another must-choice for this build is the Total Recall. This will allow us to fully utilize the Thunder Khopesh without reaching tier-8 relics. The main reason however is that this relic makes us an unstoppable god in Wilderness. You will be able to do tasks, kill monsters, and stop people from griefing you all thanks to this relic. Teleporting nullifies all incoming damage and restores your stats, and Wilderness has almost no instanced content, so you can imagine how overpowered this actually is.
Tier 7
We are going to pick Grimoire to fully max out our damage output by gaining Piety. Aside from piety, this will allow you to have access to ancients to train your Magic and use it in the Colosseum. If you think you don’t need this buff you can go with Overgrown.
Tier 8
For Tier 8 we will be getting the Specialist relic. This will allow us to spam our special attack to our heart's content, killing most enemies within seconds.
Combat Masteries
This part is pretty simple as we will be going 6 Melee and 4 Ranged. This will maximize our damage output with melee while also giving us a decent switch with Ranged. A 2-tick web weaver bow is quite strong against any enemy it faces in our region and if needed we can use 1-tick knives for immense DPS.
Route
For starters, you can check out our Starting Strategy Guide to unlock your first region and relic in an hour or so. The first region pick is always important and the best choice we have given our build is the Wilderness. Wilderness will solve our money problems really quickly while also supplying our character with tons of resources. Once you unlock Wilderness here is the route you should follow, with your clue compass:
- Buy yourself some Magic runes for water spells and a team cape from Edgeville, and teleport to the Lava Dragon Isle. Equip your team cape for some points when you are there.
- Kill lava dragons and loot everything they drop. If you get a looting bag, open it for some points. If you get a lava battlestaff, equip it for some points. Bury one lava dragon bone for some points. Do this until your inventory is full.
- Once done, teleport to the King Black Dragon lair and sacrifice all the bones you have at the chaos altar.
- Use your compass to teleport to the Wilderness axe hut and use the lever to teleport to Edgeville.
- Get a knife, teleport back, and make your way to the Mage Arena bank to use the bank for some points.
- Get some food and head out to make your way to the deep Wilderness Dungeon.
- You should have enough food and Prayer to kill one chaos dwarf and one fire giant. Fire giant might be difficult because of the shadow spiders that drain your Prayer so if that is the case, teleport out.
- Teleport to anywhere outside Wilderness and use your area teleport to get to Ferox’s Enclave. There will be a bar icon; talk to the NPC there and buy a beer.
- After this, it is time to rack up some starting cash and do some setup, so head to the Revenants and start killing them. Magic should be your best option at this stage of the game, so use that.
- After getting some starter cash and some combat prowess like d-long with tier 3 combat masteries, you can start taking Slayer assignments from Krystilia. Revenant tasks are super good in the early game as they will massively boost your drop rate for those rare items that you can get from revenants.
After this point, you should continue racking up points and tasks and further unlock combat masteries to get a huge snowball going. Your second region should be Varlamore or Fremennik depending on your region choices. Morytania should be last as it is the hardest region to gather points on. You should always use the Wiki to figure out the best easy tasks that you can do to gather points.
In the second stage, you should focus on getting your first echo item, which should be the Thunder Khopesh. Killing KBD can be difficult, so you should focus on getting a zombie axe to make the process easier. The 70 Smithing requirements can be done by using the blast furnace to smith bars that you can buy from the shop there, using the revenant money that you have been racking up. We have a detailed guide on how to kill the King Black Dragon on our website.
Once you obtain the Thunder Khopesh, the game will start opening up for you, especially if you have already unlocked your Total Recall, which you should have by now. You can start doing all sorts of boss-killing tasks in Wilderness with these two items. Furthermore, if you have picked Fremennik, you can start killing the Echo Dagannoth Kings pretty easily by focusing only on Supreme, stacking Rex on top of Supreme, and using your special attack at their enrage phase to completely skip it. We have a full guide on this that you can check out.
Lastly, we will be heading into Morytania, and the first thing you should do when you unlock this region is to get your Slayer Helmet finished. This will be your best-in-slot for almost all content in the game. With this build, you can also utilize the Dharok’s armor set pretty easily as you can save your hitpoints at 1 HP and teleport back to it whenever you heal through your passive. This is pretty much the summary of this build. You will be using your Khopesh for everything in the game. You can also switch to the Scythe once you get it from TOB to complete the raid more easily.
How to Kill Echo Sol Heredit Under 40-30 Seconds
As promised, we will explain how to do this. It is pretty easy to do: drink your stat-boosting potions, turn on your Piety, and head into the Echo fight. Immediately dump all your specs while dodging Sol’s first attacks. By the time you use all 5 of your special attacks, he will be low enough to summon healing totems. Equip your staff that can auto-cast ancient magicks (you can use the Blue Moon Spear) and kill the totems that spawn. This will give you your special back. Dump it again on the boss, kill totems, and on your third rotation of dumping specs, the boss should be dead. Enjoy :)
Ranged Build
This is probably no surprise to you if you have been playing Leagues since the Ranged build is extremely solid in every content this League. This build will maximize your damage output with Ranged.
Fremennik, Desert, Asgarnia. These regions will max out your Ranged build and provide you with the highest DPS available in Leagues. This path will get you the best-in-slot jewelry, really easy ways to rack up a lot of points, and the best-ranged weapons in the game, whether you want crossbows, darts, or the twisted bow. This path is our pick for this build but we will provide an alternative for anyone that hates Asgarnia.
Fremennik, Desert, Morytania. This path will provide you with the Ranged tank build, allowing you to utilize the tankiness of the Justiciar armor and the power of the Twisted Bow. Furthermore, if you pick the Slayer Master relic, you will have more DPS than the previous path against Slayer creatures with your Slayer Helmet (i). Be warned as this route will be extremely difficult in the late game since it has 2 raids. If you don’t mind a lot of PVM, then this might be better than the first one.
I wouldn’t recommend picking anything other than the two options listed above for this build, as it will significantly reduce your DPS. One alternative could be Varlamore, but I don’t think the quiver is worth the trouble of giving up one of these regions. Either way, the choice is ultimately yours.
Relics
Tier 1
Just like the previous build, Animal Wrangler is still the king of the tier 1 relics. Although it will not be as effective as the previous build, it will still be quite effective. An alternative for this could be Power Miner if you really hate Mining and want to have amethyst darts with Asgarnia, but aside from that, stick to the Animal Wrangler.
Tier 2
Friendly Forager will be our pick for the tier 2 relics. Since we will have great ways to train Thieving in the Desert and not that many high-tier NPCs to take advantage of, Dodgy Deal falls short.
Tier 3
Clue Compass, no argument once again. The best relic out there will allow you to teleport straight to GWD, Dagannoth Kings, and many more locations.
Tier 4
For this build, we must pick Golden God, as it will greatly speed up our progress, especially in the early game. The money will be used for Smithing training via the blast furnace, Fletching training via broad bolts, and Crafting training via the Tzhaar gem shop. This relic is a must-pick for this build, as we will explain more in the route section.
Tier 5
If you are going for the Morytania route, definitely pick the Slayer Master Relic. If you are going the Asgarnia route, however, pick the Production Master. You can also pick Treasure Arbiter if you want to rack up points early and unlock your third region much faster. All three choices are fine depending on what you want to do in Leagues.
Tier 6
This build becomes insane with the Banker’s Note, so it is an easy choice. This opens up a lot of fast skilling methods alongside infinite supplies for your PVM trips. We will not be using our special attack all that much, so this is an incredible pick.
Tier 7
To maximize your Ranged damage, you must pick the Grimoire for the Rigour prayer. This will provide you with much-needed early-game damage without getting your hands on your best-in-slot armor, and it scales well into the late game since it provides a percentage-based buff.
Tier 8
For the last tier, you will be picking the Last Stand. This combined with tier 6 Ranged mastery makes any challenging PVM content in the game look like a complete joke. It will revive you upon taking lethal damage and make you immune for 10 seconds while also providing a buff to your stats. This can also be used as a way to buff your stats without having to use a potion.
Combat Masteries
Tier 6 Ranged destroys everything in this year's Leagues, so we will aim for that. The other 4 points that you will be getting are optional, but it is recommended that you use them on melee as it is really slow to train one’s melee stats, even with the huge Leagues XP multiplier.
Golden God Route
The Golden God route highlights favors shops that have value. So we will be unlocking Fremennik first in our path. This will allow you to get fast points on the first day. Make sure you pick up your Ava’s device from Ava once you have unlocked Fremennik.
- In this route, you will rush to the stonemason shop in Keldagrim and start building up your cash.
- You will buy your onyx for 200 points, and pay the Brimhaven dungeon guy 1 million coins for 200 points.
- After that, Get to level 75 Construction by using Elemental Focuses and Marble Fireplaces to build a chapel in your house.
- Once you have your altar built, you can easily get 99 Prayer within 10–20 minutes using it alongside lighting both incense burners.
- Once that is reached complete the task of turning on Protection from Melee and restoring 75 Prayer points at once from an altar.
- Once all of these are completed, Focus on getting your tier 3 combat mastery to be able to use darts or knives 1-tick.
- At this point, the game is open for you to proceed however you like. It is recommended to use the blast furnace shop to smith high-tier darts and get the drygore blowpipe from the Echo Kalphite Queen. We also have a guide for this on our blog.
- After that you should Work towards getting a rune crossbow. If unavailable, craft an adamant one instead, which works just fine. After obtaining a crossbow, focus on reaching tier 6 masteries, as that will make your account unstoppable.
- You can Start killing DK’s for your jewelry. During this period, if you have picked Asgarnia, you can get your best-in-slot armor, full void, from pest control.
- If you have picked Morytania instead, work towards getting your Slayer Helmet (i).
Some side notes:
By day 3, you can get 50 million Construction experience in under an hour by building golden sinks first, then crystal thrones. This is only recommended if you have unlocked the Banker’s Note.
Until you get your Ranged Strength gear, use tank armor with your tier 6 mastery. It may not be your best-in-slot, but it will suffice until upgrades like Masori armor (if you picked Asgarnia).
Your best weapons to use will be the Twisted Bow from TOA and the Drygore blowpipe, alongside dragon darts from Kalphite Queen. With the relics and route presented, becoming an absolute powerhouse will be a piece of cake.
