The most popular region in Old School Runescapes’ Leagues 5 Raging Echoes this year is the Fremennik region. This is solely because of the echo Dagannoth Kings and their rewards that can be found in the region. Echo Dagannoth Kings drop the Amulet of the Monarchs and the Emperor Ring, so let’s explain how you can get your hand on these fabled jewelry.
Echo Dagannoth Kings
To access the echo version of DKs you must first beat the regular versions. This is pretty easy to do in Leagues. If you have your combat masteries unlocked to tier 5 they are a joke to kill. If you don’t have access to your combat masteries and are struggling a little bit, you can check out our DKs Guide.
Here are the requirements for Echo Dagannoth Kings:
- Tier 6 Mastery (not necessary but makes the kill so much easier)
- 43+ Prayer
- Tier 60+ Weapon if Melee, Rune crossbow with ruby bolts(e) and diamond bolts(e) switch if Ranged, and Ancient staff or better with blood spells if Magic
- Decent food, Prayer potions
- If you are a Melee user and you have access to Thunder Khopesh + Total Recall, this fight becomes extremely easy.
Echo Dagannoth Strategy
Before we begin explaining the mechanics of this fight, you must first secure a reliable way of returning to the DK’s lair or staying there. There are multiple ways of doing this:
- With the clue compass, there is an elite clue step that is directly next to the lair.
- With Banker’s Note, you don’t need to leave.
- With Total Recall, you can save a teleport right next to DK’s and teleport whenever you please.
Mechanics
Echo Dagannoth Kings possess the same strengths and weaknesses as the regular variants. Unlike the regular variants, however, these bosses share the same health pool, so killing one of them means killing all of them. Each of them uses a different combat style and is weak to one style:
- Dagannoth Rex uses melee and is weak to magic.
- Dagannoth Prime uses magic and is weak to ranged.
- Dagannoth Supreme uses ranged and is weak to melee.
In the echo versions, however, two of the three bosses will have protection prayers active for all styles of combat. At the start of the fight, Supreme will not have protection prayers. After a certain amount of damage is dealt, Rex will turn off its prayers and Supreme will activate them. This will continue to rotate like this until the final phase of the fight. In each rotation, there will be acid splats that rain down on the boss arena, so you will have to move. After getting to the final phase, there will be no protection prayers on any of the DKs, and the acid will rain down every few ticks.
Attack Pattern
Echo DKs will always attack the same way. First, Prime will attack, then Supreme, and finally Rex. They can all hit pretty hard, so you must prayer flick between all the attacks. To do this correctly, start with protection from magic on, and as soon as you see the animation of Prime, turn on your ranged prayer. As soon as you see the animation of Supreme, turn on your melee prayer and repeat.
Full Kill
- Once you are ready to enter the boss arena, drink any stat-boosting potion you have, if you have any, and turn on your protection from magic, then head down.
- Before anything, make sure that you hit each Dagannoth King at least once. If you don’t do this, you can’t get loot from all three of them. There are two ways to go about this fight. If you have a strong primary style with tier 6 masteries unlocked, you can simply ignore the prayer rotation and focus on the boss that is weak to your style. They will take a lot of damage through the prayer. If your primary is melee, focus Supreme. If ranged, focus Prime. If magic, focus Rex. If you don’t have a strong primary style, however, you can follow along the prayer rotation and focus each boss.
- Make sure to move after each prayer rotation to avoid acid, as one is guaranteed to fall on you.
- Once the boss is at around 20% health, all the protection prayers will be dropped, and the acid will come pouring down. Focus any boss you want to and finish the fight.
Bonus tip: If you are a Wilderness enjoyer and have access to the Thunder Khopesh alongside Total Recall, you can get through the fight much easier. Stack Rex and Supreme on top of each other. Simply focus on the Supreme the entire fight. Your lightning bolts will hit Rex too. When the enrage phase begins, dump your specs which can easily deal over 400-500 damage to the boss to instantly finish the fight. Use Total Recall and repeat.
