OSRS K'ril Guide

The God Wars dungeon is one of the most challenging areas in OSRS. Aside from the onslaught of enemies you'll have to face, you also have to worry about serious tough bosses from within. One of the most challenging is K'ril Tsutsaroth, or better known by players as K'ril. You'll come across K'ril on your journey throughout the dungeon eventually and this guide will help you take out this boss.

Who Is K'ril OSRS?

K'ril is a boss from the Zamorak Fortress located in the God Wars Dungeon. He specializes in using melee and magic attacks. He has a special attack that can even hit through the Protect from Melee, making him quite the formidable foe to go up against. K'ril is usually fought on a Slayer task and he's classified as a greater demon.

That said, killing K'ril will also count towards your greater demon Slayer task as well. This will allow you to capitalize on the damage-boosting effects when wearing a Black mask or a Slayer helmet. Since he's a demon, K'ril is weak against demonbane weapons and spells.

Where To Find K'ril?

The God Wars Dungeon lies north of Trollheim. To enter, you must have partially completed Troll Stronghold or fully completed the Easy Combat Achievements, which grants access to the teleport on Ghommal's hilt 1. Additionally, you need a Strength level of 60 or an Agility level of 60. A rope is required for your first visit, and without 61 Magic and completion of Eadgar's Ruse for the Trollheim Teleport, climbing boots are necessary each time. While Strength potions can boost your Strength, they can't grant access to the Bandos area. Equipping items aligned with the gods is essential to avoid aggression from their followers.

If you've completed Eadgar's Ruse and have at least 61 Magic, you can use the Trollheim Teleport to arrive east of the Troll Stronghold. Head down to the mountain's base and proceed north, utilizing Agility shortcuts along the way. For those who've finished Making Friends with My Arm, a stony basalt can teleport you to the Troll Stronghold. Alternatively, players can create Trollheim tele tabs with two scrolls of redirection on house teletabs to avoid sacrificing inventory space.

If unable to use the Trollheim Teleport, consider teleporting to Burthorpe and following along the path that you've unlocked in Death Plateau. Upon reaching Trollheim, head to the northern side, encountering thrower trolls. Use Protect from Missiles and proceed north toward the dungeon entrance, dealing with high-level ice wolves. Lighting the fire pit southwest of the entrance negates the chilling effect, but a rope is required for first-time entry.

Note that Agility shortcuts lead into the Wilderness and are one-way routes, excluding access to the GWD area.

The Zamorak Fortress is in the north-eastern area of the God Wars Dungeon. Getting inside will require 70 Hitpoints. Getting in the dungeon is just the beginning. You'll also have to kill 40 Zamorakians before you're able to fight K'ril. Keep in mind that you need to kill 40 each time you're going to attempt to fight K'ril. Luckily, the Zamorakians aren't hard to deal with.

Best Way To Kill Zamorakians

While Zamorak followers aren't hard to kill, the fact that you have to face 40 of them makes it challenging. If you're having trouble doing it, here are a few pointers.

  • From the main room, the area north and east of the rope will have Zamorakian followers fighting Bandosians and Saradominist. Within these are two imps, bloodvelds werewolves, goraks, and icefiends that are also easy to kill.
  • Within Zamorak's Fortress, you can find four imp spawns. You can switch back and forth between worlds to increase your kill count. This is by far the easiest way to do it.

K'ril Fight Overview

The Kril fight is actually easy to understand. For his Melee assault, K'ril swiftly swings his scimitars at his target, potentially dealing up to 46 damage with each strike. There's also a chance his attack may inflict poison, starting at 16 damage. This Melee onslaught occurs with a frequency of 2 out of 3 chances.

His Magic attack involves K'ril lifting both scimitars skyward before forcefully bringing them down, unleashing a potent magical shockwave upon his target. This mystical assault guarantees a minimum of 10 damage and can escalate to a maximum of 30 damage upon impact. K'ril opts for this magical maneuver with a probability of 1 out of 3 chances.

Both of these attacks are directed at a single target.

K'ril reserves a 1 out of 9 chance to execute a unique maneuver known as the "Prayer Smash" if his target employs "Protect from Melee" defense. Accompanied by a hearty cry of "YARRRRRRR!", this attack inflicts substantial damage ranging from 35 to 49 points. Additionally, it saps half of the target's current prayer points. Evading this attack is not an option.

K'ril's Bodyguards

One of the reasons why the fight is considered tough is because of the allies that Kril brings to the fight. He has a total of three bodyguards.

  • Balfrug Kreeyath, the sorcerous guardian, hurls fiery spells at his target, potentially dealing up to 16 damage.
  • Tstanon Karlak, the stalwart melee defender, employs powerful melee strikes, capable of dealing up to 15 damage.
  • Zakl'n Gritch, the nimble ranged protector, pelts his target with icy snowballs, causing up to 21 damage.
osrs_kril_guide_img4

Once Kril dies, the fight isn't over just yet. The remaining bodyguards attack a random player within the area. It doesn't matter who dealt the final blow. Once Kril dies, it's highly recommended to have players ready their prayers and heal as fast as they can.

OSRS K'ril Guide

K'ril uses a combination of melee and magic attacks during combat encounters. To counter this, it is recommended for solo adventurers or designated tanks within groups to prioritize armor with strong magic defense and activate Protect from Melee. Despite the occasional vulnerability to K'ril's prayer smash attack, this defensive strategy is generally more effective than its alternative.

Following K'ril's demise, his minions randomly select targets among the group. Thus, players must adapt their prayers accordingly and concentrate on dispatching minions targeting the same player. As K'ril and his minions yield ashes upon defeat, the utilization of the bones to peaches spell becomes impractical, necessitating careful management of hitpoints.

In group encounters, equipping Guthan's gear proves advantageous, whereas solo adventurers find Blood Barrage more effective. When casting Blood Barrage, it is essential to position Tstanon adjacent to Zakl'n to optimize spell impact. Carrying water runes or a Kodai wand remains optional for Ice Barrage, although it facilitates the immobilization of Tstanon, reducing the need for frequent switching between ranged and melee prayers.

You can't use bones and peaches for this fight. We highly recommend you to pack runes for Boost Potion Share and Stat Restore Pot Share to prolong expeditions, particularly in team scenarios. Instead of Lunar spells, you may opt for Ward of Arceuus to mitigate damage and Death Charge to bolster special attack energy. While not compulsory, assigning one or more players to specific tasks can enhance coordination in team engagements. When going in as a team, a lot of cooperation is needed.

Attacker's Role

Once the fight begins, all attackers should stand in one of the altar corners. This is the area that's farthest from K'ril when he spawns. The distance will also make it easier for the attackers to use prayer restoration up until K'ril drops into the fight.

This is the most crucial aspect of this strategy. Attackers SHOULD NOT attack K'ril until the tank of the team has first hit him. If your tank is using a ranged setup, you're going to have to take note of this step even more as it takes longer for them to hit Kril.

Given that K'ril Tsutsaroth's attacks are primarily directed at the tank, attackers need to adopt a strategic approach to minimize damage. They should utilize prayers against the minion posing the greatest threat according to their combat style and equip armor to mitigate damage from other combat styles. This tactic ensures attackers sustain minimal damage during engagements, particularly if their Defense stat is substantial. Melee-oriented players should activate Protect from Magic, while those using Ranged should opt for Protect from Ranged.

It's crucial to acknowledge that if K'ril Tsutsaroth redirects focus towards an attacker, the armor typically worn for offense proves ineffective in withstanding his assaults, resulting in significantly increased damage intake. In such instances, Melee attackers should switch to Protect from Magic, and Ranged attackers should switch to Protect from Melee to better withstand K'ril's onslaught.

Additionally, all attackers should carry antidote++ potions to safeguard against poison damage and be prepared to share them with the tank in case their supply runs low. This precautionary measure helps maintain the team's overall health and combat effectiveness throughout the encounter.

Tank's Role

If you've fought Graardor as a tank before, it's best to employ the same setup there. Using Protect from Melee might be counterproductive due to the fact that Kril's prayer slam and his bodyguard's hit on the same ticks.

A good alternative to this is to focus mainly on boosting your melee and ranged defense. To cover your magic weakness, you can then use Protect from Magic to cover this area. Kril won't be able to use his prayer slam, while the three bodyguards will have trouble hitting you. In this situation, you only have to worry about Kril's melee attacks.

When facing K'ril Tsutsaroth, try hitting him twice for every hit he lands on you, similar to how you'd handle General Graardor. This helps reduce the damage you take. If you're using Melee, expect a hit every 8 game ticks, while Ranged players with an Armadyl crossbow get hit every 10 ticks.

For solo battles, Melee is usually your best bet because of the arclight's high damage output. But in a team, you can also go with Ranged and Armadyl armor for better magic defense. Soloing K'ril Tsutsaroth is usually only doable when you're on a slayer task.

To add some punch, tanks can use the Lunar spell Vengeance to bounce back some of K'ril Tsutsaroth's damage. For more details, check out the equipment tabs.
