When you drink this potion, any monster, be it aggressive or nonaggressive, within a 9x9 area around your character will be aggressive towards you. The only exception to this is if a monster was already in combat with another player when the potion was used. How to Craft a Goading Potion?

Goading potion requires level 54 Herblore to craft so everyone can access it pretty early and easily! Here is the recipe for the Goading potion:

• Harralander potion (unf)
• Aldarium

Harralander is pretty cheap and has been in the game for quite a while, but aldarium, on the other hand, is the new reward you can get from the Mastering Mixology minigame.

In this minigame, you take the role of a mixologist trying to fulfill potion orders that are raining in from all over Varlamore. To participate in this minigame, you will need level 60 Herblore and the quest “Children of the Sun” completed. Once inside, you will need to grind your herbs to get pastes called: mox, lye, and aga. Once you have these, you can head inside, deposit them, and move on to gathering points. For each Aldarium, you will need to possess 80 Mox, 60 Aga, and 90 Lye points. Where to Use Goading Potion?

The Goading Potion introduces a wide array of possibilities for OSRS players, with even more potential applications likely to emerge in future updates. This potion can be especially useful for those looking to streamline their training, or even take an AFK approach, by making nearby monsters automatically aggressive. We’ll break down the key use cases of the Goading Potion, starting with AFK training benefits and moving on to how it can be optimized in Slayer tasks.

Training Use Cases

For players looking to train combat with minimal input, the Goading Potion’s effect can be a game-changer. By activating this potion, you can draw in monsters from a 9x9 area around you, keeping your character in constant combat and reducing the need to move or re-engage. There is a catch: the monster in question should be classified as an active NPC, so this potion does not work properly on creatures like crabs. Here’s how it can be effectively used for AFK training.

Rogues Chest

Let’s dive into one of the more unique uses for the Goading Potion: the Wilderness Chest Method. For those familiar with the Wilderness, there’s a Level 54 chest that can be lockpicked for solid loot and some decent experience. The catch? Each time you attempt to open it, a group of level 135 rogues will spawn and start attacking you, making it a high-risk activity. With this potion-based strategy, you’re entirely free from combat, allowing you to log out instantly if a PKer logs in nearby. How the Goading Potion Transforms the TzHaar Grind

With the Goading Potion active, every TzHaar within a 9x9 area will automatically become aggressive toward you, creating a steady stream of foes to fight. Now, instead of spending all your time chasing them down, you’ll have a continuous flow of targets, allowing for completely AFK-friendly combat. You might be wondering how this method is even considered AFK-friendly, given how strong these monsters are. The trick here is using Blood Barrage along with Protect from Melee. Since the area is packed with TzHaar creatures most of which are melee based, you can stack them up around you with auto-retaliate on and let Blood Barrage do the work. The constant healing from Blood Barrage will help you tank any hits from the occasional mages and rangers nearby, keeping you going with minimal effort! Additionally, you can use the new prayer regeneration potion to stay AFK for even a longer period of time!

By removing the downtime of chasing NPCs, you can focus purely on farming drops or doing something else while your character does the job for you!

Cyclopes & Defenders

Our final and perhaps one of the most valuable training uses for the Goading Potion is farming Cyclopes to obtain the full set of defenders. Defenders are a must-have for every serious PvMer, providing essential offensive and defensive stats in one slot. But the process of farming defenders at the Warriors’ Guild can be slow and frustrating due to the limited aggression range of Cyclopes, making true AFKing impossible without constant re-engagement.

Cyclopes are naturally aggressive, but their small aggression radius means they only stay aggressive if you’re right within their immediate area. This turns the process into a hassle if you’re aiming for a true AFK experience, where you don’t have to constantly run around or re-engage every few minutes. Since each defender has a 1/50 drop rate, with the Dragon Defender coming in at a rarer 1/100, the grind can take quite a while.

Here’s where the Goading Potion shines: by using it, you can extend the Cyclopes’ aggression across a full 9x9 area around you, drawing them in from a greater distance and allowing you to fully AFK without interruption. Simply equip your tankiest armor or best prayer gear, activate the Goading Potion, and let the Cyclopes come to you. This way, you’re able to farm defenders without any of the usual hassle.

Well, this potion makes the bad ones good and the good ones god-like by enabling you to AFK and mass kill any creature in a multi-combat zone, allowing you to AFK those pesky, slow tasks. Here is a list of Slayer tasks that you should use this potion on!

Hellhounds

Let’s kick things off with a simple task: Hellhounds. These guys are easy to kill since all you need to do is use Protect from Melee, but the catch is their spread-out spacing and small aggression range, which makes them an absolute pain for Slayer. If you try to AFK Hellhounds without the Goading Potion, you’ll notice how painfully slow the kills come in. With the Goading Potion active, though, you can just stand right in the middle of the room and let them come to you, making it a fully AFKable task with no hassle, just easy XP!

Dust Devils

This task is already one of the best for Slayer because these creatures have almost no defense, are in a multi-combat zone, and can be mass-killed easily. Before the Goading Potion update, you’d have to go through the hassle of tagging and stacking them with darts, which quickly became a pain since they die so fast. You’d end up running all over, constantly re-tagging just to keep up. Now, with a single sip of the potion, you can sit back near a corner or stack them up and enjoy an effortless killing spree.

One of the best parts of this setup is that once you’ve got them stacked, newly spawned Dust Devils will automatically join the pile due to the game’s mechanics. That means you get a continuous flow of kills without lifting a finger—unless you’re killing them at insane speeds, of course!

Nechryaels

Nechryaels are another barrage-friendly favorite for Slayer, much like Dust Devils! These creatures offer excellent XP and loot, making them a top choice for anyone looking to speed up their grind. Nechryaels are found in multi-combat zones, making them perfect for stacking up and bursting down with AoE magic spells.

Without the Goading Potion, you'd usually have to tag and lure them into a stack, which can be frustratingly tedious as they start to re-spawn. But with a single sip of the potion, you can sit back as they all become aggressive toward you, piling up effortlessly. Once they’re stacked, it’s easy to maintain the barrage, and even newly spawned Nechryaels will join the cluster automatically, keeping the kills rolling in without any hassle.

Bloodvelds

Bloodvelds are a bit more nuanced than the previous tasks. While this task isn’t barragable, Bloodvelds can be found in multi-combat zones, making the Goading Potion highly useful. You can speed things up with a cannon, but we’ve tested it out, and using the potion alongside a cannon results in about 33% faster kills compared to using a cannon alone.

It’s also worth mentioning that not all Bloodveld locations allow for cannon use. For instance, if you’re hunting Bloodvelds in the Catacombs of Kourend to collect totem pieces or ancient shards, you won’t be able to place a cannon there. In these cases, the Goading Potion becomes a must-have to keep Bloodvelds aggressive toward you, ensuring a steady stream of kills without any downtime or need to manually tag.

Abyssal Demons

Abyssal Demons are both a great and frustrating task rolled into one. On the one hand, they’re barragable and located in multi-combat zones, making them a good Slayer task, but on the other hand, these demons have a few quirks that can make the task a real headache. First off, Abyssal Demons have the annoying habit of teleporting around, which makes it difficult to get them properly stacked for an efficient barrage session. And even though they’re technically aggressive, they come with a very small aggression radius, so they tend to spread out quickly, which becomes annoying extremely quickly.

Luckily, the Goading Potion changes the game here. With the potion active, you can finally work around these issues. All you need to do is use a Teleport Anchoring Scroll, sip the potion, and turn on auto-retaliate. Now, instead of a scattered mess, you’ll have Abyssal Demons flooding toward you, fully stacked, and ready for some serious barrage XP. With this setup, you can sit back and focus on your kills without constantly needing to re-aggro or re-stack them, making it one of the best ways to handle this otherwise tricky Slayer task.

Gargoyles

Gargoyles are a fantastic Slayer task, known for being both fast and profitable. With consistent drops like granite mauls and tons of alchable loot, this task is usually one you’ll look forward to. However, without any help, Gargoyles require a fair bit of manual tagging and clicking to keep the kills rolling, which can get tiring quickly.

That’s where the Goading Potion really shines. With the potion active, you can simply throw on Protect from Melee and go completely AFK, letting the Gargoyles come to you.

Alternatively, you can use a full Guthan set and do the same, albeit it is slower. This setup takes out all the manual work, making it a relaxing and highly efficient task. However, there’s one thing to watch out for: Superior Gargoyles. If you’re not paying attention, a Superior can spawn and easily catch you off guard, especially if you’re in AFK mode. So while the potion allows for near-effortless farming, it’s still worth checking in periodically to avoid any surprises from those hard-hitting Superiors!

Basilisks

Using the goading potion on a basilisk knight Slayer task is an amazing idea. Normally you would use ranged gear with protect from magic and hit these creatures from a safe distance. This process requires full attention and manual clicking since basilisk knights will always try to melee you first and if they can’t, they will simply not attack you which makes the task impossible to AFK.

If you use a goading potion however, you can simply turn on your auto-retaliate and watch the kills roll in. This is also an amazing task to combine your goading potion with a prayer regeneration potion, making the AFK part longer! Do keep an eye out for that fabled jaw drop tho, you wouldn’t want to miss it.

Jellies

Jellies are another slow Slayer task, often requiring you to manually engage each one, which can be tedious and time-consuming. Without any form of aggression, you’re forced to go from one Jelly to the next, making this task far from AFK-friendly.

With the Goading Potion, though, Jellies become a much smoother and faster task. Just activate the potion, switch on Protect from Melee, and let them come to you. This setup turns Jellies into an easy AFK farm, allowing you to rack up kills without the constant clicking.

Wyrms

Finally, we have Wyrms, and if you've ever done this task, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Wyrms are non-aggressive but super easy to kill, which makes it baffling that they’re not AFKable by default. Thankfully, the Goading Potion changes that.

With the potion active, you can choose any combat style you prefer against Wyrms, even Dragonbane weaponry since they count as dragons. Just turn on Protect from Magic, activate auto-retaliate, and watch this task practically complete itself. No constant clicking or re-engaging—just effortless XP as Wyrms fall one by one. You can make this process even better if you have access to the bonecrusher necklace, which will help restore your prayer every time you kill a dragon.
