The world of Old School Runescape is big and it can feel really slow to travel between points A to B. To combat this problem, this game has a lot of different teleport options that players can use. Whether it is the spells from the spellbooks, jewelry, diary rewards... etc, Jagex makes sure that if there is a location there is a way to teleport to there. Fairy Ring transportation system is one such system that, unlike the other methods of teleportation, offers access to unique locations that no other method provides, making it a must-have unlock for any account. In this guide, we will take a close look at this transportation system and analyze it to figure out the best use cases and importance of it.

What Are Fairy Rings?

osrs_fairy_rings_guide_1

Fairy Rings are a teleportation system that has been created by the fairies in OSRS. To unlock this system you need to finish the quest Fairy Tale 1 Growing Pains and complete up to the Fairy Ring part of Fairytale 2 Cure a Queen quest. Once you reach that part of the quest you will have access to the entirety of the teleportation system. To access these rings you need to use one while holding a dramen or lunar staff. The only way to use it without this item requirement is to complete the Lumbridge & Draynor achievement diary. These rings will give you access to a variety of different locations, some of which cannot be accessed by any other means.

Once you use the system you will be prompted to enter a Fairy Ring Code. Currently, there are 52 different codes that you can enter to teleport to a specific location. Some of these locations are locked behind quests or need you to plant some mushrooms in the area first. There are also a few quality-of-life parts to this system. If you right-click a fairy ring, you will have the option to directly teleport to the last location you have entered, which is really convenient if you are constantly going back and forth. There is also a list of rings you have recently traveled alongside the ability to favorite 4 of them. This makes it easier to use the system because who is going to remember all the ring codes? If you want to find a specific ring code you can use this guide or hover over a fairy ring on your map on Runelite to see the code of that ring.

Easiest Locations to Access Fairy Rings

osrs_fairy_rings_guide_3

You can use any fairy ring to teleport to another one but it would be in your best interest to use ones that are easily accessible. Here is a list of locations that you can use to access fairy rings as quickly as possible:

From best to worst (pick depending on where your account stands)

    • Player owned house: This is the quickest one out of them all. When you teleport to your home you will be only 5 tiles away from your fairy ring but this requires level 85 Construction to build.
    • Quest Point Cape: The requirement for this is much higher as you need to complete every quest in the game but this will give you access to the second most closest fairy ring to a teleport. You can teleport to the Legend's Guild with this cape and it will put you just 12 tiles away from a fairy ring.
    • Slayer Ring: You can use this ring to teleport to the Fremennik Slayer Dungeon which will put you just 16 tiles away from a fairy ring.
    • Achievement diary cape: Another one with a hard requirement but if you want to use this cape to teleport to "Le-sabre" you will be just 20 tiles away from a fairy ring. Alternatively, you can use a salve graveyard teleport to be 22 tiles away from the same fairy ring near the mushroom patch.
    • Arceuus Library Teleport: Run 34 tiles north after teleporting to this location and you will be at a fairy ring.
    • Necklace of Passage: Run 39 tiles south behind the Wizard's tower to access this fairy ring.
    • Battlefront teleport: You can head 42 tiles west after teleporting to access a fairy ring.
    • Ring of wealth: You can teleport to Miscellania and run north-west 48 tiles to find a fairy ring between the castle and the coal rocks.
    • Ardougne cloak: This is an easy-to-access fairy ring that many players use in the early game. You can teleport to the monastery and run east to access a fairy ring near some trees.
    • Yanille Teleport: Teleport to Yanille either by using a watchtower teleport or by teleporting to your house in Yanille. Exit the city from its west gate and head north. You will need to run 60 Tiles to reach the fairy ring.
    • Ring of Wealth: Either use a wealth or a Varrock G.E teleport to the Grand Exchange and head towards the Agility shortcut, got through it and head south, this takes 82 tiles.
    • Amulet of Glory: After teleporting run towards the grand exchange across the bridge and then head south. The distance is 91 tiles.
