Money is used for pretty much everything in Old School Runescape. Whether you want to efficiently train skills or acquire stronger gear for combat, you will need a lot of gold. Thankfully the game has a lot of different ways in which you can use to make some decent money. These methods to make money all have different difficulty levels and requirements. In our previous guide, we explored different methods that can be used to make decent money in the early game where your character doesn’t have access to that much gold and skill levels. You can check that guide Early Game Money Making Guide here. In this guide, we will explore the best ways to make money in the mid-game.
If you don’t want to waste time making money in OSRS and just want to play how you want to play, you can purchase fast, safe, and cheap gold from our website!
Non-Combat Methods
Making Sacred Oil
Sacred oil is an item that can be created whilst playing the Shades of Mort’ton minigame. This oil is used for creating pyre logs so there will always be a demand for this item, especially with the recent exposure the redwood pyre logs received due to it being a profitable way to get your hands on some high-tier clues.
Requirements
- Level 20+ Crafting. Higher your crafting level is the faster you will be able to produce sacred oils.
- Level 81+ Combat. This will make the nearby shades unaggressive towards your character, which makes the process easier.
Process
Sacred oil is created by converting vials of olive oil at the fire altar in Shades of Mort'ton. You'll need at least 10% sanctity to convert the oil, with each 4-dose vial costing about 3.6% sanctity.
The fastest method produces 300-400 oils per hour:
- Use World 377 (official world).
- Gear needed:
- Flamtaer hammer
- Flamtaer bag
- Flamtaer bracelet
- Morytania legs 3
- Combat level 81+ recommended
- Method:
- Buy building supplies from Razmire's shop.
- Store supplies in Flamtaer bag.
- Fill inventory with olive oil.
- Repair temple walls until 95%+ sanctity.
- Convert all olive oil at the fire altar.
- Bank at Burgh de Rott using Morytania legs teleport.
- Repeat.
Higher Crafting levels increase sanctity gained. The fire altar is usually kept lit on W377, so no tinderbox needed.
Remember sacred oil trades in low volume - expect longer selling times at market price. Alternatively, use it for redwood pyre logs.
With a decent Crafting level, you can expect to make 943K per hour using this method.
Casting Tan Leather
This method is pretty amazing considering the fact that it is a skilling method. This method can be done whilst bank standing and is super simple to do. Here are the requirements for this method:
- Completion of the quest “Lunar Diplomacy”.
- Completion of the hard Fremennik Diary.
- Level 78 Magic
All of these requirements are to cast the “tan leather” spell. Lunar diplomacy unlocks the spell book, hard Fremennik diary unlocks the spell, and level 78 Magic is required to cast the spell. Here are the items that you need:
- 20M+ Gold
- Astral and Nature runes alongside a fire staff
- Red dragonhides
- Alternatively, you can use a Bryophyta’s staff alongside a charged tome of fire.
We will be using red dragonhides as an example for this guide since they are currently the most profitable hide. You should always check the hide prices to figure out the most profitable hide for this method. After you acquire all the items needed, start casting your spell to tan all your hides.
Doing this for an hour will result in you gaining 129K Magic experience alongside 1.5M Gold.
Making Dwarf Weed Potions

This method is another simple one where we will be bank standing. Dwarf weed potions are used for creating Ranging potions and because of this, they are always high on demand. This creates an opportunity for us to make some decent money off players that want to train their Herblore skill. This method is pretty simple; you will need the following:
- Level 72 Herblore
- 4K vial of water and clean dwarf weed
After you have acquired the items, take out 14 vials of water and 14 dwarf weeds from your bank and use them on each other to start creating unfinished dwarf weed potions. Doing this for an entire hour will result in making 1M gold.
Making Raw Wild Pies
You might have never heard about this method, but it is actually quite profitable. This method exists due to a spell called “Bake Pie”. Players can use this spell to train their Cooking and Magic at the same time, thus making this method viable.
Making Process:
First, gather your ingredients (13,000 buy limit every 4 hours):
- Pie shells
- Raw bear meat
- Raw chompy
- Raw rabbit
The assembly order matters:
- Withdraw 14 pie shells and 14 raw bear meat
- Use bear meat on shells, click "make-all"
- Bank finished batch and repeat
- Once done, combine chompy with part wild pies
- Finally, add rabbit to part wild pies 2
Tips:
- You can make around 740 pies per hour
- Always test profit margins with one pie first
- For best selling price: Buy a raw wild pie instantly, then list yours at that price
Doing this for an entire hour will allow you to make around 1M gold per hour.
Making Toy Cats
This is a niche money-making method. Before we get into the method, keep in mind that the market volume for clockwork cats is not that high, so it can take a long time to sell everything you have crafted. Here are the requirements for this method:
- Level 85 Crafting
- Level 50 Construction for both the Crafting Table 4 and Demon Butler
- 576 planks and clockwork
- Around 60K gold for the butler
Fill your inventory with planks and clockworks and use your crafting table 4 in your house. Craft the toy cats, and make sure to have your butler bring you more resources as you do the process. You can click your table again as soon as you see the experience drop to craft another cat.
Doing this for an entire hour will result in a 1.2M gold profit!
Making Mahogany Planks

You have probably heard of this method before and think that this method is not that profitable, but this is the max-efficiency plank-making method, which will yield the highest amount of gold out of any non-combat method we have mentioned in this guide. For this method, you will need the following:
- Full graceful set
- Plank sack
- Log basket
- Ring of the elements
- 6,900 mahogany logs
- Around 10.5M gold for sawmill
- Stamina potions
- Teleportation to a bank
Here's the fastest method for making mahogany planks (25 seconds per trip):
Process (48 planks/trip):
- Bank:
- Withdraw 24 logs → basket
- Withdraw 24 more logs
- Ring teleport to Earth Altar
- At sawmill:
- "Buy-Plank" → "Buy All" mahogany
- Store planks in sack
- Convert basket logs to planks
- Bank teleport, deposit all planks
- Repeat, using stamina potions when needed
Cost: 1,500 coins per plank
Selling tip: Buy one plank instantly, then list yours slightly below that price.
Doing this method for an entire hour will result in making around 2M gold per hour!
Combat Methods
Now we have arrived at the most profitable pieces of content you can do as a mid-level account.
Killing Lizardman Shamans

Our first method on this list will be the Lizardman Shamans. These creatures are not hard to kill if you are paying attention, drop a lot of alchable items, and can also drop the fabled Dragon Warhammer. Here are the requirements for this method:
- Full Shayzien 5 set
- Hard Kourend & Kebos diary if you want to kill them on task with a Slayer helmet.
- Completion of the “Dwarf Cannon” quest for the dwarf multicannon.
- Level 74+ Prayer
- Level 75+ Ranged
- Toxic blowpipe with amethyst darts
- Divine ranging potions
- Prayer potions
- Antidote++
We will be killing the Shamans in the canyon, which allows us to kill multiple at the same time. This is where the cannon comes in handy as it greatly increases our kill rate. Killing these Shamans for an entire hour will result in around 1.1M profit per hour. This profit is calculated with obtaining the Dragon Warhammer in mind, so if you quit killing these Shamans without obtaining the hammer, you can expect half the profit per hour.
Killing Dagannoth Rex

Killing all 3 Dagannoth Kings as a mid-level might be challenging and inefficient. So we are only going to focus on killing Rex, which is extremely easy. Rex is the melee Dagannoth King and as such he is weak against Magic attacks and can be easily safe-spotted. Here are the requirements and items needed for this method:
- Level 50+ Magic for Iban blast or Level 78+ Magic for the Trident of the swamp
- At least 40+ Defence for tank gear, but 70+ is recommended for Barrows gear
- 43+ Prayer for protection prayers
- Completion of the quest “The Fremennik Trials”
- Slayer helmet (i) if on task
- An antidote++
- Some decent healing like around 18 pineapple pizzas or blood barrage runes
- High-level alchemy runes if not bringing blood barrage
Here is where the safe-spot is:

You can also check the top image for further info. Simply lure the Rex to the safe-spot and kill him using your staff. You should use full tank armor like full Torag’s alongside magic-boosting jewelry. Since Rex is extremely weak to Magic, wearing tank melee armor will not make any difference to your DPS.
Doing this for an hour, you can expect to make 1.5M gold.
Killing Scorpia

Scorpia is an old Wilderness boss that resides in deep Wilderness. Due to this fact, it is important to know the area and escape routes first. The boss is really simple to kill, but the main challenge comes with avoiding PKers. It is advisable to do this method early in the morning when there are fewer players online. We will give a list of recommended items for this boss, but remember you can only protect up to 4 items if you are killed by a player, so don’t bring more than 4 valuable items.
- Level 82+ Magic
- Level 43+ Prayer
- Accursed sceptre
- Tormented bracelet
- Occult necklace
- Book of darkness
- Bloodbark body and legs or Zamorak monk robes
- Magic arena 1 cape
- Any cheap helmet like a mitre or Ahrim’s hood
- Blighted ancient ice sacks
- Blighted food
- Blighted restores
- 2 Antidote++
- Looting bag
- Black d’hide body and legs for tanking
Killing Scorpia is pretty simple. Simply use protection from Ranged and freeze the boss using your ancient ice spells. Hit the boss until it spawns 2 healers. Freeze the healers, lure the boss away from them, and re-freeze the boss. This will despawn the healers, allowing you to kill the boss efficiently. Farming this boss for an hour will yield around 2M gp.
If you want a more detailed guide on this boss, you can check out our “Scorpia Guide”.
Killing Lava Dragons

Lava dragons are a very profitable monster that resides in deep Wilderness. They are super chill to kill, where you can safespot them and kill them using Magic. Just like Scorpia, the problem here is PKers rather than the monster itself. Here are the stats and items you need to grind this mob properly:
- Level 65+ Magic
- Level 43+ Prayer
- 3-4 item Magic gear combo, you can decide how much you want to risk. Accursed sceptre, tormented bracelet, and occult necklace can be a good combo. You can also switch the sceptre for a magic staff so that you don’t lose any ether.
- Anti-dragon shield or a tome of water
- Pestle and mortar to grind lava scales, which will allow you to stay there for longer trips.
- Looting bag
- Decent food and potions for PKers
- Hard Wilderness diary if you have level 74 Agility for the shortcut
- Runes for the highest water-based spell you can use and for tele-grab
- A one-click teleport out like the grand seed pod
- A teleport to the dragons like the Annakarl teleport
Lava dragons are extremely weak to water-based Magic spells, so using even a wave spell would be extremely overpowered against them. However, this will also make the cost of supplies higher as you will be using runes to kill these dragons. If you don’t want this, you can switch to using the regular attack of your sceptre or bring a trident of the seas or swamp instead. Using the tele-grab spell is optional but will guarantee your safety as you won’t need to move from your safe-spot, which will prevent you from taking damage. If you have the hard diaries completed, you should always kill the dragon located at the southernmost part of the isle and escape using the shortcut when necessary. Doing this for an entire hour without any interruptions will net you around 1.6M gold per hour.
Completing The Gauntlet

There are two versions of The Gauntlet: one is the corrupted version, which is harder, and the other is the normal Gauntlet, which is easier. If you know what you are doing, you can simply spam the corrupted one instead, but since this guide is created for mid-level accounts, we will stick to completing the regular version instead. We will not be explaining the Gauntlet strategy in this guide because we have already done it in our OSRS Gauntlet/Corrupted Gauntlet Guide.
This activity only requires you to have Song of the Elves completed, but it is also recommended to have decent combat stats for the boss fight. Doing the Gauntlet with mid-level stats for an hour will make you around 1.7M-2.3M gold.
Moons of Peril Runs

Moons of Peril is the newest Barrows-like challenge where you go around killing 3 different bosses, and at the end, you can loot a chest for decent rewards. This challenge is extremely easy to do with mid-level stats alongside dragon equipment, so everybody can do it. It also has the benefit of providing you with supplies during the challenge, so you won’t be wasting any money. We also have a guide for this challenge; you can check it out by clicking here: OSRS Moons of Peril Money Making Guide. Here are the requirements in a nutshell:
- Completion of the quest Perilous Moons (click for quest guide)
- Level 70+ in melee stats
- Level 70+ in Prayer for piety
- Level 20+ Hunter to catch moss lizards; if you have level 75 Hunter, you can also catch moonlight moths to restore your prayer
- Level 30+ Cooking to cook the lizards. Higher cooking will result in more food, so it is recommended.
- Level 38+ Herblore to create Moonlight potions. Higher herblore is recommended since it increases the dose and effectiveness of the potion.
- 3 weapons that are strong in slash, stab, and crush, respectively. Dragon weapons will work fine.
- High defence armor like dragon, barrows…etc
Doing this for an hour will make you around 2.3M gold.
Killing Zulrah

The money snake is back to print more money for everyone ever since the bots started getting banned pretty regularly. If you are interested in learning how to kill Zulrah efficiently, you can click here for our guide on the subject. Here are the requirements for this boss:
- Started the quest “Regicide”
- Level 70+ Defence
- Level 80+ Health, Magic, and Ranged
- Level 45+ Prayer
- Ring of suffering (ri)
- Magic and Ranged armor, if you are short on money, Full Void Ranged and Magic is perfect for this boss
- Toxic blowpipe with amethyst darts
- Trident of the swamp
- 1 Forgotten brew (optional)
- 1 divine bastion potion
- 3-4 Prayer potions
- 1 Anti-venom+ or extended
- Runes for thralls if you have them unlocked
- A teleport out like the ring of duelling or the house teleport tab
- Level 76 Agility if you are going to use the fairy ring to teleport to Zul-andra (can be boosted from 71 with summer pies)
Killing Zulrah with a welfare setup for an entire hour will net you around 2.5M Gold!
Killing Calvar’ion

We are returning back to the Wilderness again for the remainder of this guide as it is very lucrative, especially for mid-level accounts. Calvar’ion is a very simple boss that is weak to crush damage, so you can even farm this boss with a dragon mace.
- Level 70+ in attack and strength
- Level 43+ Prayer, 70 is recommended for piety
- Ursine chainmace/Dragon mace
- Avernic/dragon defender
- Salve amulet (e)
- Berserker ring (i)
- Monk’s robes, proselyte armor, or black dragonhide armor
- Looting bag
- Blighted restores and anglerfishes
- Divine super combat potion
- 1-click teleport from level 30 Wilderness, like the grand seed pod
Killing Calvar’ion for an hour will make you around 2-2.7M per hour.
If you want a detailed guide on this boss, you can check out our Calvar’ion Guide.
Killing Revenants
Revenants is an always-active PVP spot, so do this method if you are confident in your escape abilities. Nevertheless, we won’t be risking anything at all for this method. Here is what you need:
- Level 45+ Defence
- Level 80+ Ranged
- Level 43+ Prayer
- Full black dragonhide armour
- Ava’s equipment
- Magic shortbow with amethyst arrows
- Charged bracelet of ethereum
- Amulet of avarice
- Looting bag
- Royal seed pod to teleport out
- Divine ranging potion
- Blighted restores and manta rays
- Stamina potion
- Saradomin brews
This setup is really strong despite being extremely cost-effective. Avarice is the key component here as it will turn the drops to their noted form and provide the same bonuses that a salve amulet provides against the undead.
Doing this method for an hour will yield around 2-3M depending on your encounters with PKers.
Killing Artio

Continuing on with our Wilderness bosses, we have Artio. Just like Calvar’ion, this boss is pretty simple. Here is what you will need to kill this boss:
- Level 75+ Ranged
- Level 79+ Magic
- Level 43+ Prayer
- Webweaver bow
- Black d’hide armour
- Necklace of anguish
- Snakeskin boots
- Ava’s accumulator
- Royal seed pod or another level 30 Wildy teleport
- Looting bag
- Blighted ancient ice sacks
- Divine ranging potions
- Saradomin brews
- Blighted super restores and food
- Stamina potions
To kill this boss efficiently, you will need to simply freeze it and hit it from afar. Make sure to run away once it is unfrozen and refreeze it. Keep protect from Ranged up in the meantime, and if you see a wave-type white attack, switch to protect from Magic for that attack only. If you accidentally get close to the boss, make sure to use protect from Melee.
Depending on how often you get interrupted killing this monster, you can expect to make around 2-3M per hour.
If you want a more detailed guide on this boss, you can check out our Artio Guide.
Killing Spindel

The last method on our list is Spindel. This boss yields the most amount of GP per hour. This boss is weak to crush, so grab your best crush weapon. Alternatively, you can use the webweaver bow for this boss if you have higher Ranged stats. Here is what you need:
- Level 80+ Strength
- Level 70+ Attack
- Level 70+ Prayer
- Level 80+ Ranged (if going for ranged kills)
- Ursine chainmace
- Best melee strength gear you can bring. Mixed hide works fine if you don’t want any risk or if you want to bring expensive jewelry.
- Barrows gloves
- Dragon boots
- Mithril darts (for killing the minions instantly)
- Blighted restores and food
- Saradomin brews
- Divine supercombat potion
- Stamina potion
Spindel will rotate between Ranged and Magic attacks in set intervals, so you can always correctly pray against it. You should dodge its web attack as it deals consistent damage and drains your run energy. Kill the minions with your darts when they spawn, and that is pretty much it for this boss.
Depending on how uninterrupted you can kill this boss, you can expect to make around 3-5M per hour!
If you want a more detailed guide on this boss, you can check out our Spindel Guide.
This is it for this guide. Hope you make a ton of money and obtain your dream gear!
