Game Guides , Path of Exile 2
We are just two weeks away from getting Path of Exile 2: Dawn of the Hunt and GGG has already revealed several new unique items that you can expect in the game's major update. What are they and how will they affect the landscape of PoE 2? That is what you are going to find out in this article!
Today, we will go over the new unique items in PoE 2 Patch 0.2.0. Take note that this article was made before the reveal event coming next week, so there might be new items that will be introduced alongside the ones we're going to talk about here.
Do not forget that we have a bunch of unique items in Path of Exile 2 in our PoE 2 Store. Once Patch 0.2.0 goes live, you can buy these new uniques immediately in just a couple of hours after the launch!
New Unique Items in Patch 0.2.0
Before we begin, you might be wondering what unique items are in Path of Exile 2. Well, they are simply items that have unique modifiers you can't see anywhere else. Because of this property, they can potentially be build-defining, wherein a PoE 2 build cannot function without it.
Most of the time, however, uniques are complementary pieces that you can add to your build to make it more awesome. That is why some rare items should still be used. You can buy rare items in our PoE 2 Store as well!
With that said, here are the new unique items in Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.2.0:
The Deepest Tower

We will begin with arguably the best unique item in Path of Exile 2: Dawn of the Hunt—the Deepest Tower. This is a unique helmet that causes nearby enemies to be deemed as “being on low life.” Why is this amazing, you ask?
To understand why The Deepest Tower is overpowered, you have to know what “being on low life” means. In Path of Exile 2, you are considered at low life when your HP drops below 35% of your maximum. So, if you have 1,000 HP, the game considers you to be on low life when you have below 350 HP.
That condition matters because there are a bunch of mechanics you can take advantage of. For example, “Finality” is a notable passive skill in Path of Exile 2 that grants a 120% damage boost if you hit enemies that are on low life. Now you see why The Deepest Tower is pretty exciting!
Okay, with an incredibly powerful unique effect, who do you think will get the most out of The Deepest Tower? We believe that this unique item could breathe new life into the Witch Hunter. As of now, the Witch Hunter is the second least-popular ascendancy class in PoE 2, which is only slightly better than the Warbringer. You can refer to our Path of Exile 2 ascendancy class guide to learn more about this.
More importantly, the Witch Hunter, being one of the ascendancy classes available to the Mercenary, has easy access to the “Finishing Blows” cluster. The small nodes that connect to it provide a 30% damage increase for each one. Besides that, Finishing Blows itself is a notable passive skill that not only grants 60% increased damage with hits against enemies on low life but gives a 30% increased stun build-up as well.

If you want to take things a step further, you can even put the “Execute” support gem into your primary skill. This particular support gem grants a 40% more damage multiplier with hits against low-life enemies!
Because of The Deepest Tower and the power it brings, we might see a resurgence of the Galvanic Shards Witch Hunter in Path of Exile 2: Dawn of the Hunt!
Apart from that, there is no interesting thing to note about The Deepest Tower. If you look at its base item, you will see that it says “Decorated Helm.” Why is this interesting? You see, uniques in PoE 2 are all cut from the same base items as rares.
For instance, the ever-popular Ingenuity belt is a unique item that has a Utility Belt as the base. Because of this, you also get the same “20% of Flask Recovery Applied Instantly” effect as that of a regular Utility Belt. Additionally, the Utility Belt is readily available in the game.
Now, the reason why this is interesting is that the “Decorated Helm” does not exist in the game at the time of writing this article! Could this possibly be GGG's way of telling us that we will receive Act 4 in Patch 0.2.0? We believe so!
Prism Guardian

Since Path of Exile 2 Early Access was launched in December of last year, those who liked to play minion builds would often choose the Infernalist as this is the only ascendancy class that gains access to more Spirit. This is, of course, thanks to Beidat's Will, which is an ascendancy node that grants an additional point of Spirit per 25 maximum life. Well, this is important to highlight because the next unique item we are going to discuss in this article has a very similar effect.
The Prism Guardian is very much a toned-down version of Beidat's Will, particularly in terms of providing additional Spirit. If the said ascendancy node grants one point of Spirit per 25 HP, this unique shield gives 1 Spirit per 50 maximum life.
Most endgame Infernalist minion builds have a maximum life of at least 3,000 HP, so you get about 60 Spirit when you equip the Prism Guardian. We are hoping that GGG will put life nodes on the passive tree or, at the very least, provide additional sources of maximum life to get the most out of this unique shield.
Because of the potentially high Spirit you gain from the Prism Guardian, it will most likely dethrone the Oaksworn as the default shield for all minion builds in PoE 2. Do you want to buy the Oaksworn right now? Then head to our PoE 2 store, stat!
The Bringer of Rain

One of the joys of playing the Warrior Class in PoE 2 is that you have easy access to the Giant's Blood keystone passive. If you want to get a more in-depth explanation of this thing, you can read our Path of Exile 2 best keystones passive guide.
Anyway, Giant's Blood is an essential keystone passive to take for most Warrior Builds in the game, specifically because it enables one to wield a couple of two-handed weapons. The only downside to it is that it requires triple the STR requirements of the actual weapon you are going to use.
Let's say you want to equip two Expert Crumbling Maces. These are level 79 weapons that require 212 STR to wield. If you have Giant's Blood allocated, you need a whopping 636 Strength to use these things!
Unless you have plenty of Breach Rings with a high amount of STR and "+ to All Attributes," you will have trouble equipping the higher-level weapons with Giant's Blood. So, what are you going to do if your budget is limited? GGG rectifies that by giving you a viable alternative in the form of a new unique item called The Bringer of Rain.
The Bringer of Rain may be familiar to those who have played Path of Exile 1 because there is also a unique item of the same name in that game. However, the PoE 2 version of The Bringer of Rain has some stark differences.
For one, it no longer has added physical damage to attacks, though it is replaced with a relatively high bonus to accuracy rating. Furthermore, this thing does not grant bonuses to maximum life anymore, but you are getting moderate life regeneration in return.
From what we can see, The Bringer of Rain is an item that you can use to complement other uniques. For instance, this helmet can be paired with a couple of Chober Chabers for a hefty boost in Spirit, thus enabling minion builds for ascendancy classes other than the Infernalist. How about a Skeletal Sniper Titan? That may be possible with the help of the Bringer of Rain!
The Bringer of Rain might also give you the means to equip other things since you no longer need to have an absurd amount of STR to wield a couple of two-handed weapons. A good example of this is a Hand of Wisdom and Action for a massive boost in attack speed and lightning damage. Supplement that with an 80% Ingenuity and two attribute Breach Rings and you have a potentially awesome Path of Exile 2: Dawn of the Hunt build!
All of that comes with a heavy price, though. When you have the Bringer of Rain equipped, you cannot use any chest armor in the game. This prevents you from wearing the Morior Invictus or a well-rolled rare body armor for that matter. While not being able to wear the Morior Invictus is a big deal, the stats that you get from rare body armor can be addressed by your other pieces of gear. Hence, the Bringer of Rain is not that bad, especially since it can unlock more niche builds in Path of Exile 2.
The Hammer of Faith

Probably the weakest unique item out of the bunch, The Hammer of Faith has only one redeeming factor in that it provides you with a random shrine buff every 10 seconds. If you want to know why it's mediocre compared to the other unique items in Patch 0.2.0, it is because of a couple of reasons.
First, it only has 488 maximum damage (without PoE 2 Blacksmith’s Whetstones). That is pretty ordinary considering that this is a level 65 weapon. Second, wielding this thing slaps a 10% attack speed reduction on you. The two-handed mace is already a very slow weapon to begin with and adding a reduced attack speed mod does not help things!
However, despite those downsides, you have to remember that the random Shrine Buffs that you get can certainly address them. For example, the 10% reduced attack speed is easily resolved when you have the “Acceleration Shrine” active. This is a shrine buff that grants 60% increased skill speed and 40% increased movement speed.
On top of that, the low damage can possibly be rectified by the Meteoric Shrine, Tempest Shrine, and Freezing Shrine. These buffs grant extra fire damage, lightning damage, and cold damage, respectively. That is on top of the additional effects they provide, such as the meteor rain, occasional lightning strikes, and freezing shards that fire in a spiral.
With about two weeks left before the launch of PoE 2 Patch 0.2.0, we hope that GGG will buff the damage portion of The Hammer of Faith to make it become more appealing to use. If you want to experiment with this, you can probably wear The Bringer of Rain so that you can wield this and another high-damage mace to complement it.
Final Thoughts
GGG has only teased four unique items in Path of Exile 2: Dawn of the Hunt so far, but the majority of them could shake things up for the better. Right now, The Deepest Tower seems to be the strongest of the bunch. Its ability to deem nearby enemies as “in low life” would allow you to take advantage of certain mechanics that increase your damage output against them.
The Prism Guardian is quite amazing for minion builds in PoE 2. Finally, there is a shield that is a worthy contender to the Oaksworn, particularly for those who want to summon one to three more subservient allies!
The Bringer of Rain might not wow everyone in PoE 2, though we believe it to be an item that can unlock unorthodox and niche builds. You might laugh at the idea of a Witch Class in Path of Exile 2 wielding a couple of Chober Chaber unique maces, but what if that setup is much better than initially thought?
While we deem The Hammer of Faith to be the mediocre unique item out of the several we have talked about in this article, there are still some good things about it. Being able to get random Shrine Buffs every so often may unlock certain PoE 2 builds that were never before seen in the game!
What do you think? Which of the four unique items mentioned in this article has grabbed your attention? Do share your thoughts and opinions in the comments.
Also, The Deepest Tower and the other unique items will certainly be priced really high once Patch 0.2.0 goes live on April 4. So, if you want to buy PoE 2 currency to be able to afford these things, then visit our PoE 2 Store to get exclusive discounts!
