FC 25 Ultimate Team Guide for Beginners

FC 25 Ultimate Team is fun, especially for huge football fans who want to create their dream team. Of course, the mode is challenging considering that you’re going up against other football fans. If you’re struggling to gain an edge over your enemies, we’ve got FUT tactics.

Before anything else, FUT is sort of a pay-to-win game. As such, investing in FC 25 coins is a must. That being said, you might want to visit our FC 25 store to buy FC 25 Coins at the best prices.

Starting Off with Ultimate Team

Choosing Your Nation

The first decision in Ultimate Team is choosing a nation. This impacts your starter team since you’ll receive a starter pack with players from that country. In past FIFA games, Brazil, France, and Argentina were popular choices.

FUT_starter_team_selection

However, this year is different; there's an objective requiring Spanish players for Adama Traoré. So, if you want players for that objective, go with Spain. Brazil, France, and Argentina are solid options, but we think Spain is the top choice this year.

In our first pack, we pulled Itor Paradas, and he's now part of our Ultimate Team! The squad mainly consists of Spanish players.

You can also check player details by pressing the right stick on your controller. Using the bumpers, scroll through to view stats, play styles, and roles. We'll get into more details on these later.

Advancing to Loan Players

When you proceed, you get the chance to sign a high-rated loan player. We suggest selecting a Striker, but this year, consider experimenting with different positions.

Initially, the choices for Strikers include Aspas, Azri, David, Lovic, and Russo, but there’s no one over an 86 rating. If you’re not thrilled with these options, you can press back and try a different position.

One strong recommendation is Raon as a Center Mid. She can also play CAM, providing flexibility. We chose her because her in-game stats are solid, and she'll be helpful for those early goals.

Loan players are limited-use, so you can only use her for seven games—contracts don’t apply here.

Selecting Kits and Making Quick Coins

Next, you'll choose your kits. Always pick the most valuable kit possible. Kits from well-known clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, or Barcelona are often gold rare kits, meaning they’re tradable. Selling these kits on the transfer market can net you a quick boost of coins.

FC_25_kit_selection

Gold rare kits can go for varying prices—5,000, 3,000, or 900 coins—but usually quick-sell for around 490 to 500 coins. We chose an Argentina kit and Bayern Munich as our away kit.

If you’re aiming for coin value, kits from big clubs are a safe bet. As for badges, it may pain us to sell as Liverpool fans, but coins are crucial in the game’s early stages.

Claiming Rewards and Evolving Your Club

If you played previous versions, you’ll receive Loyalty Rewards from EA. These packs can be opened, and if tradable, the items can be listed on the market, quick-sold, or stored. Untradeable items, however, can’t be sold and are stuck in your club.

Make sure to redeem Club Member Evolution items—these can boost your squad right from the start. You’ll also see a Foundation Objectives menu where you can earn new items and upgrade your squad.

Diving into Objectives and Season Passes

Objectives are essential. They’re challenges that give you rewards like packs and players. One early example: score 10 goals with a Spanish player in 10 different games for a big pack.

Objectives can earn you both player and pack rewards, and they bring a lot of variety to gameplay.

FC_Season_Pass_rewards

The FC Season Pass allows you to earn rewards by completing objectives across Ultimate Team, Career Mode, and Pro Clubs. The more you engage, the better your rewards across all these modes.

Exploring the New Rush Mode

This year introduces Total Rush Mode, a 5v5 game mode in Ultimate Team. By playing, you can earn items like 2,000 XP for a player pick, 5,000 season points for an 84-rated Ryan Gold, and even a 7-tap Plus Two pack.

It's a fun way to improve your game while stacking rewards. The higher you go, the better the items you unlock—15,000 coins, high-rated players, and even some fun cosmetic items like a beard and mustache goatee!

Mastering Squad Battles

Squad Battles remain a great way to get rewards, especially early in the season. In this mode, you’ll play against AI squads created by the Ultimate Team community.

Choose your preferred difficulty and climb the ranks. Weekly competitions in Squad Battles offer rewards based on performance.

You’ll see different difficulty options, from Beginner to Ultimate, with projected match points increasing by difficulty. For example, scoring five goals and keeping a clean sheet can give you a points bonus, reaching over 2,500 points per game—a solid boost early on.

Starting Out with Squad Battles and Difficulty Levels

If you're new to the game, start on Amateur difficulty. But if you've played FIFA or Ultimate Team before, Professional might be your best entry point.

Squad_Battles_difficulty_options

As you improve, keep raising the difficulty in Squad Battles—this earns you more points, which translates into better rewards each Sunday at around 8 a.m. (or 9 a.m. during winter).

Aim for rank one or top 200 globally to score awesome rewards, including 20,000 coins and a Team of the Week player pick. These packs might not be as massive as in previous years, but they’re a solid kick-start. Target Elite 3 for excellent rewards, and remember: Squad Battles are a crucial way to pile up coins early on.

Maximizing Initial Coins

Right from the get-go, there’s an easy trick to grab some quick coins. Go to your badge and look for tradable items. Compare prices on the transfer market, especially for high-demand badges like Liverpool.

Kits can also bring in coins, so feel free to quick-sell them and pocket those early funds. This is a no-fuss way to build a small nest egg right off the bat.

Understanding Chemistry

Chemistry is all about synchronizing your squad to play at its peak. Players from the same nation, league, or club increase chemistry. For example, two English players in your starting 11 each get +1 chemistry point.

FC 25 lets you build multi-league teams with full chemistry, blending men’s and women’s players through shared country, region, and club, but not through leagues.

Men's and women's leagues operate separately, which doesn’t affect chemistry between club or region teammates.

Alternate Positions

Ultimate Team now supports alternate positions. If a player, like Raon, can play both left mid and CAM, you can switch formations to suit her strengths without losing chemistry.

However, placing a player in a role outside their defined alternates (e.g., a winger at center back) does lower chemistry.

Contracts Are Gone, But Chemistry Styles Are In

Good news: Contracts are no longer a thing in Ultimate Team! But what’s new? Chemistry Styles — boosts you can apply to players, like the Deadeye style, which enhances specific attributes (e.g., finishing and passing for a striker). Equip these to all players to maximize their potential.

Player Roles and Play Styles

Roles define how a player behaves and moves off the ball. A plus sign means they’re proficient in a role, while a double plus indicates world-class skill. Icons like Pele with "Shadow Striker ++" bring top-tier value to the team. Play Styles also matter; they enhance certain moves.

For example, a player with the Finesse Shot play style excels in finesse shots but might be average with chip shots. Players with Play Style Plus get an extra edge, making them truly valuable.

Leveraging the Transfer Market

As you start accumulating coins (around 30,000 is a good target), take advantage of the transfer market. Each time you buy and list players, you earn more coins — even small transactions add up!

Bronze players at 150 to 200 coins are great for building up those transactions quickly. The market is your best tool to earn, trade, and eventually land high-profile players like Mbappé, who can sell for millions. Get in the habit of trading daily, and you’ll see your coin count skyrocket.

Quickly Make FUT Coins: Trading Filters

Let's get you into making FUT Coins quickly. This trading filter strategy is simple yet effective. Here’s what to do:

  1. Filter Details: Set the following in your transfer market search:
    • League: Premier League
    • Quality: Gold
    • Position: Left Wing
    • Nationality: English
    • Max Price: 50 million coins
  2. Find the Buy-Now Price: This is the lowest average price you can buy these players for on the market. Here, it’s around 950 coins.
  3. Snipe for Profits: Try to snipe players at 800 coins or less, then flip them for profit. If used correctly, you can potentially make 10,000 coins per hour. It’s a great early Ultimate Team strategy, especially if you grind Squad Battles first to build up some coins.

Ultimate Team Market and Packs

The Ultimate Team market is crucial for success. Packed a high-value player? Consider selling it to fund a stronger squad. For instance, an icon player like Gareth Bale could sell for 2.8 million coins.

With that, you can buy players like Salah or CBAs and start building a dream team.

Why Squad Building Challenges (SBC) Are Important

Squad Building Challenges (SBCs) are where you can really flex those squad-building skills. Complete these challenges to earn rewards, including special player items. But keep this in mind:

  1. Foundations First: You can't complete other SBCs until you finish the Foundations SBCs. These are great for learning the basics.
  2. Check Requirements: Each SBC requires specific card types—like bronze common cards in some cases. Make sure you meet the requirements before submitting to earn your pack reward.
  3. Avoid Quick Submits: Pro tip—wait 2-3 seconds before confirming an SBC submission. This avoids server issues.

Efficient SBC Navigation

Once you know the ropes, here's a trick for faster SBC completion:

  • Use start/select buttons on Xbox or PS5 to add players directly without going back and forth on the screen. This helps add multiple players quickly and keeps you in the flow.

Pack Openings: What to Expect

Packs come in tiers—bronze, silver, and gold—with bronze being the lowest. EA also releases special promo packs throughout the year that offer higher-value cards but at a premium price.

  • Open Bronze Packs: Bronze packs often give you players you can reuse in bronze SBCs, especially useful in early stages.
  • Watch for Untradeable Packs: These won’t earn you coins but can be great for SBC fodder.

Trading Tip: Footbin for Profit

This tip is gold for maximizing profits: use Footbin.com to spot which players are in demand for SBCs. When players are part of popular SBC solutions, their prices can skyrocket from 200 coins to 3,000 coins or more.

So, regularly check your club for players in Footbin solutions and see if they’re worth flipping.

Team of the Week (TOTW)

Every Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., EA releases the Team of the Week squad, featuring upgraded cards for players based on their real-life performances. TOTW cards replace the regular versions of players in packs, so a TOTW Messi won’t have his regular card available.

Promotion Fridays: EA loves a Friday promo, often boosting player stats massively for limited-time cards. For example, if a player like Gabrielle makes it into the Road to Knockout promo, he could be a high-rated player with a huge market price.

Final Tip: Price Check Before Selling

Before listing any card, always check its market price. Quick-selling may seem convenient, but you could be missing out on serious coins if the player is in high demand. Look for that tradeable icon next to the pack title for packs that can earn you coins back.

Step It Up: Squad Battles and Division Rivals

Alright, once you’re feeling confident after about 10 games in Squad Battles, it’s time to level up. Head over to Division Rivals. It’s a competitive mode, but those rewards make it well worth it.

You’ll have the chance to play solo or with a friend in Co-op mode. If you’re dedicated to building the ultimate team, Division Rivals is a must.

If you’re up for the challenge, aim for the Elite Division in FC 25. Here’s what you can look forward to weekly:

  • 75,000 coins
  • 85+ tradable pack
  • And so much more!

The rewards scale with your wins—5 wins get you a reward, but 15 wins get you the upgrades.

Stepping into the Big Leagues: FUT Champions

For the ultimate rewards, it’s time to try FUT Champions. This mode is like the “Weekend League” on steroids. Here’s how it works:

  1. Qualify through playoffs – Earn those qualification points and win at least 3 out of 5 playoff games.
  2. Score wins in finals – Each win gets you a point, and if you hit 15 wins, you’re rolling in rewards.

The rewards here are top-tier, with 200,000 coins, 85+ packs, and even icon packs at stake. But be warned: it’s intense. Weekend League runs from Friday to Monday (or sometimes Wednesday), so brace yourself for some serious competition.

Setting Up for Success: Custom Tactics

Now, let’s talk Custom Tactics. It’s the ultimate tool to refine your team’s playstyle. To start:

  1. Pick a Formation – Try a 4-2-3-1, which offers a strong balance of defense and attack.
  2. Adjust Play Style – Go for balanced tactics or opt for “direct play” if you’re feeling bold.
  3. Fine-Tune Player Roles – Set specific roles like playmaker or ball-playing defender to suit your team’s strengths.

One tip: if a tactic isn’t clicking, don’t hesitate to change it up. Check each player’s positions and roles, ensuring they’re in spots that maximize their potential.

Assignments, Corners, and Kicks: Get the Details Right

Set player roles, corner takers, and penalty kickers for your team:

  • Always go with the player with the best stat for each role.
  • On corners, use an in-swinging kick by choosing the correct foot for each side.

Collect Packs, Coins, and Stars

The quickest way to build up your resources is by completing Milestone objectives. Head to Moments Mode and grind through challenges to earn stars. These stars can be redeemed in the reward gallery for packs and other boosts.

Pro Packing Tips

When you open packs, if you’re not going to use a player, sell them for coins. For example, players with a high rating or popularity can fetch a nice sum on the market.

Stay tuned to market trends, especially around SBCs. When popular players like Haaland get SBC cards, demand spikes, and player prices can skyrocket.
