By now, you're probably well aware of the challenge that Duriel brings. Getting the Uber Uniques from the boss is the goal but to get there, you'll need to heavily farm a few things first. One of them is the Mucus-Slick Egg. To get this item, you'll have to face off against another new boss in the game, Echo of Varshan.
The Echo of Varshan is an easy battle but you'll still need to prepare well for this boss. With this guide, we're going to give you all of the details you need to easily beat this boss and farm his Uniques.
How To Fight Echo Of Varshan
All the new bosses in Diablo 2 Season 4 are the same. To summon them, you'll need to farm a few items first. What makes it different for Varshan is that you'll need to kill him again and again to get the materials for Duriel so you're going to have to fight him multiple times.
How To Summon Varshan
Summoning Varshan is a bit of a chore because you actually have to collect a total of three items. These are Blackened Femur, Trembling Hand, and Gurgling Head. You'll need one of each to summon Varshan and you'll use them each time you want to fight Varshan. That said, you should farm as many of these as possible so that you can fight Varshan multiple times without having to go back and forth.
The best way to get these items is by beating Grotesque Debtors which appear during Whispers of the Dead events. You'll know that one of them is spawning if you see a blood pool in the area. They are also indicated by a fingerprint icon on the map.
Alternatively, you can complete Whisper Events by way of Blood Harvest Season Events. Complete the quests and claim a Whisper Cache. Opening these caches should give you some
of the materials above.
Where To Find Echo of Varshan
Once you've gathered enough materials, head to the Malignant Burrow which is a level 75 dungeon in Hawezar. It's fairly easy to spot as it's right next to the Tree of Whispers. Again, bring as many of the materials above as you can to avoid going back and forth.
Echo Of Varshan Strategy Guide
The best way to prepare for this fight is by reaching the 70% Shadow Resistance cap. If you're having a hard time doing it with your gear, then you can reach the cap by using a Potent Elixir of Shadow Resistance as well. Aside from these, make sure to take upgrades that enhance your mobility and susceptibility to crowd control effects.
For the fight itself, keep these things in mind:
- Focus on getting behind Varshan. Most of his devastating attacks happen at the front. It will be difficult but you should use your dodge to make sure that you're always able to get behind him easily. Reserve your mobility skills to get out of harm's way.
- Varshan will spawn triangular void zones constantly. This deals a significant amount of damage but is very easy to avoid. When it appears, just keep in mind that it will move away from Varshan and then will move back to him after reaching a certain point. The zones will travel in a straight line so moving outside its path should be more than enough.
- Once the fight starts, Varshan will spawn two Elite enemies that you'll first need to fight. You should use your Ultimate during this fight and start triggering most of your passives as well. The enemies aren't that difficult to deal with but they do have high HP.
