Diablo 4 The Beast In Ice Strategy Guide

Whether you're looking to get more loot or to get more out of your Diablo 4 experience, Season of Blood definitely has something in store for you. Players are very busy fighting the new bosses in the game right now. One boss that you need to prepare for is The Beast in the Ice.

Also called Beast in Ice, this boss is one of the five new endgame bosses to appear in Diablo 4 Season 2. As expected, the boss is no pushover and it will require some patience and hard work to beat this boss and to get his rewards.

How To Fight Beast in Ice

With the bosses in Diablo 4 Season 2, the new mechanic is that you need to farm for certain items which you'll then use to summon the boss. For Beast in Ice, you'll need to farm 9 Distilled Fear. If you're well prepared for the battle ahead, then farming Distilled Fear is the hardest part of this challenge.

Where To Find Distilled Fear

You can get Distilled Fear by doing Tier 30 or higher Nightmare Dungeons. After getting 9 of these, head to the Occultist and craft Glacial Fissure Nightmare Sigil. Keep in mind, however, that you'll need 250 Sigil Powder to craft this item as well. The only way to farm for these items is by going through Nightmare Dungeons.

We highly suggest going through the dungeons at a party so that the fight is easier. You'll need one Glacial Fissure Nightmare Sigil for this boss fight. Unlike other new bosses, you'll need only one of these and you can fight Beast in Ice multiple times.

Where To Find The Beast In Ice

Once you have the Glacial Fissure Nightmare Sigil, you should then head to Glacial Fissure which is a level 85 dungeon. The entrance to this can be found at Fracture Peaks, near Kyovashad. Once there, activate the dungeon as a Nightmare Dungeon by using the sigil.

The Beast In Ice Strategy Guide

The Beast in Ice is strong when it comes to dealing Cold damage. That said, the best way to prepare for this fight is by upping your Cold Resistance to the 70% cap. You can also use Potent Elixir of Cold Resistance if your gear isn't high enough to reach the cap. Once that's done, here are some tactics you'll need to consider.

  1. The Beast in Ice has a dangerous frontal cleave attack that it uses to deal most of the damage. It's best to avoid this attack by staying away from his frontside. If you're using a ranged character, stay as far from him as possible. For melee classes, try to get behind him as much as you can.
  2. There will be ice zones that spawn throughout the fight. Stepping on this will slow you and eventually freeze you if you aren't careful. Move around the map to avoid being trapped in one of the ice zones.
  3. Once you get his health down to 70%, Beast in Ice will jump up and start spawning linear ice zones around the ground. This will make the safe areas smaller. It's also during this phase that the boss will spawn waves of normal ads. It's best to reserve your Ultimate ability for when you get to this phase of the fight.
  4. After that phase, Beast in Ice will drop down and summon linear ice zones. These are easier to avoid as they'll be in a star formation around him. The zones will not move but the safe areas become smaller the closer you are to Beast in Ice so keep distance up until the zones disappear.
  5. At 30% health, Beast in Ice will get up in the air again and start to spawn two Elite mobs on top of the ice zones. Use the same strategy as in the similar phase of the fight.

Beast in Ice isn't particularly hard but what makes him challenging is the fact that he can greatly reduce the safe area around the map. Aside from Cold resistance, make sure to build up your mobility as well.
