In a surprise announcement, Blizzard revealed the Diablo 4 Season 7 Goblin event. It might look like a fun and simple event to keep players busy before the launch of the next season but it’s actually a challenging task to earn all of the rewards here. But as usual, we’ve got you covered.

Diablo 4 Season 7 Goblin Event

The new Goblin event can get the best of anyone. If you’re really struggling with it, you might want to get some D4 gold and start upgrading your gear first. This will help you with every challenge you face in Season 7.

Goblin Event Rewards Breakdown

Let's dive into the rewards first and see which ones are actually worth your time. Honestly, you'll probably end up collecting them all anyway, but let's give a quick rundown so you know what's coming.

You'll start off with a cache of crafting materials—pretty basic stuff—and some extra gold. For many of you, though, the standout reward might be the Spark. There's also something called a Bag of Goblin Caches, which contains some Goblin Fragments.

We're planning to make a separate video opening all these caches at once, so keep an eye out for that if you're curious about exactly what's inside.

Usually, you'll find these caches mostly filled with Temper Manuals. To be frank, unless you're lucky enough to snag a Greater Ax manual, most of these won't really blow your mind.

However, you do get an emblem as part of the rewards, and that's entirely new for this event. Additionally, you'll receive a Resplendent Spark along with several runes, which can be quite useful.

This is a good opportunity to start stocking up on D4 Uniques for Season of the Witchcraft so start the event as soon as you can!

New Mechanics

Diablo 4 Goblin Event Mechanics

One of the best things about this iteration of the Goblin event is that Blizzard has shaken things up with a host of new Goblins hunt. Each has its own mechanics and rewards.

  1. Gelatinous Goblin: Defeating this Goblin causes it to split into smaller versions, each dropping additional loot.
  2. Glittering Goblin: This variant drops a significant amount of gem fragments upon defeat.
  3. Curious Murl Goblin: Killing this Goblin rewards players with a bag of Obols, the in-game currency used for gambling at the Purveyor of Curiosities.
  4. Odious Ector Goblin: This Goblin drops a large quantity of crafting materials when slain.
  5. Gilded Baron: Defeating this rare Goblin results in a substantial gold drop.
  6. Mythic Greedling: An extremely rare variant, the Mythic Greedling has a chance to drop a Mythic Unique item or a Resplendent Spark, making it highly sought after by players.

Diablo 4 Season 7 Goblin Event: How to Easily Spot Goblins Using Subo the Mercenary

When you're farming goblins during Diablo 4's Season 7 event, one mercenary stands out as incredibly helpful: Subo. He allows you to detect monsters, consumables, and most importantly, goblins, from significantly greater distances.

Here's exactly how you can leverage this to make your farming runs extremely efficient:

  • First, you'll want to teleport over to your chosen farming spot—in this example, we're focusing on the Nahu region.
  • Once you're there, hop on your horse and continuously press the Tab key as you move around.

Goblins won't show up on your mini-map until you're practically right on top of them. However, when you're pressing Tab (on PC) frequently, you'll reveal goblins from about five screens away, giving you a huge advantage.

In our testing, we found a goblin almost immediately after arriving in the Nahu region, even though it wasn't visible on the mini-map at all initially.

By regularly pressing Tab, we detected it well in advance—long before it appeared on the mini-map. This trick lets you cover far more ground quickly and spot goblins you might otherwise miss. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown:

  • Mount your horse.
  • Constantly press the Tab key while riding. You’ll instantly notice how far away you can detect goblins.
  • Combine your movement with quick presses of the Spacebar for maneuverability, ensuring you're scanning wide areas effectively.
  • Repeat this process across your farming route.

During our run, we quickly spotted multiple goblins from significant distances. At one point, we even detected two goblins simultaneously.

Goblin Detection in Diablo 4

Best Goblin Farming Area: Nahu Region

Let’s dive into another area we've thoroughly tested: the Nahu region. Immediately, goblins started appearing as soon as we arrived—almost nonstop, honestly.

Within moments of exploring this region, we encountered numerous goblins, so it’s safe to say Nahu is definitely among the best farming locations right now.

One particular goblin encounter gave us trouble due to a bunch of loot dropping at once—2.8k gold dropped effortlessly, showcasing how profitable farming here can be, even without much effort. In just a short run, goblins appeared frequently, far more often than other tested areas.

To truly maximize goblin farming, you must have the right strategy in place. Utilizing the mercenary Subo and frequently pressing the Tab key dramatically extends your detection range, essentially becoming a "map hack."

The difference between using the expanded map (activated by pressing Tab) and the normal mini-map is massive. It's literally the difference between seeing goblins from five screens away versus barely seeing them on your mini-map—even if you're right next to them.

We can't stress enough: constantly pressing Tab while mounted is the absolute best way to efficiently farm goblins this season. You don’t have to spam it as aggressively as we did in the test, but definitely do it regularly—every few seconds or so is probably enough.

Within just a short span of time, we encountered numerous goblins, including a few shrines—like the Greed Shrine—which significantly boosted loot. In total, we found approximately ten goblins in mere minutes.

Some were treasure goblins, others dropped Obals, and we even got crafting materials. This farming technique, using Subo and continuous tabbing, is incredibly efficient. It almost feels unfair because goblins appear everywhere, and quickly at that. In this region, we’ve found that:

  • Goblin spawn rates are extremely high—far higher than other areas we tested.
  • Using the expanded map (Tab) gives you a massive advantage.
  • Goblins regularly spawn in clusters, giving massive loot opportunities.
  • This method is extremely effective but visually intense—potentially overwhelming due to constantly toggling the expanded map.

We do wish Blizzard would allow players to permanently pin the expanded map—playing without this feature feels restrictive given the current efficiency gained by continuously pressing Tab. However, even occasional tapping provides a significant advantage.

To highlight just how powerful this strategy is, let’s consider visibility. When using just the mini-map, we literally couldn't see goblins until we were nearly right next to them.

With the expanded map enabled through Subo, however, we spotted goblins from an incredibly far distance, often several screens away. It's a massive game changer.

Here’s an example to visualize how dramatic this difference is:

  • Using the mini-map: Goblins were invisible until we were practically right beside them.
  • Using the expanded map: Goblins were visible from extremely far away—making farming vastly easier.

During these tests, the Leap Quake Barbarian was used, a solid build for rapidly moving across terrain and instantly killing groups of goblins. Though it may not be the absolute best goblin-hunting build, it performs quite well, especially in crowded areas.

For even faster goblin farming, builds with exceptional mobility or AoE damage like the Dance of Dives Rogue, Cataclysm Druid, or even Ball Lightning Sorcerer will likely provide better results. Slower builds, such as Blood Wave Necromancer, might struggle here, despite being powerful in other content.

Best Goblin Farming Area - Nahu Region

Throughout our test, goblins consistently dropped a wide variety of loot:

  • Abdusite: We easily collected over 2,000 Abdusite.
  • Obals: Goblin drops consistently filled our obal cap (max of 2,500).
  • Frequent drops of valuable crafting materials, making it perfect for efficient resource farming.

Even when goblins occasionally melted instantly due to the sheer damage from earthquakes in the Leap Quake Barbarian build, it was worth it. Some loot was missed initially, simply due to overwhelming amounts—but it’s easy to circle back if needed.

After extensive testing, it's clear the Nahu region is currently the standout farming area this season. Goblin spawn rates are extraordinary, especially when paired with the Subo "tab-spam" method, allowing you to quickly and efficiently fill your inventory with top-tier loot.

Testing the Alternative Goblin Farming Methods

To help you maximize the number of goblins you can farm during the new March of the Goblins event, we performed multiple 30-minute tests to see which farming strategy yields the most goblins in the shortest time. Like the Lunar Awakening event, the March of the Goblins is worth the trouble. Let’s go through the results step-by-step.

Regular Gameplay Loop

First, we tested the most straightforward method—simply playing the game as intended. We set out a 30-minute timer and went about our usual Diablo gameplay loop, which meant running around completing regular tasks, events, and Witch Hunts:

  • We repeatedly cleared events and searched through zones normally, but this yielded very limited success.
  • Total Goblins Found: Only 5 goblins in 30 minutes.
  • Surprisingly, 3 of these goblins came from a single Greed Shrine we randomly stumbled upon, making this approach quite inefficient overall.

Frankly, the regular gameplay loop isn't effective for targeted Goblin farming. Without that lucky Greed Shrine encounter, this route would've been even less rewarding.

Greed Shrine Farming in Hoarfrost Demise

Noticing how critical the Greed Shrine was in the first run, we shifted tactics to maximize shrine encounters. Specifically, we revisited an older strategy involving repeatedly farming the Hoarfrost Demise dungeon, which has a known shrine spawn point:

  • You enter Hoarfrost Demise dungeon repeatedly, checking immediately if a Greed Shrine spawned.
  • If you encounter the shrine, you trigger it and clear the enemies to spawn multiple goblins quickly.
  • If the shrine is any other type (which happens about 85% of the time), you exit and reset the dungeon.

This method significantly increased goblin encounters, giving us a respectable 15 goblins in 30 minutes, largely due to better-than-average luck. However, the constant resetting of the dungeon became tedious, costing us roughly two minutes every reset, which significantly cut into farming efficiency. Despite being effective, this method quickly becomes repetitive and tedious.

Targeted Goblin Farming in the Nantu Region and PvP Areas (Optimal Method)

We decided to find an even simpler—and definitely less monotonous—approach for our third attempt. This method involves riding through targeted regions specifically to hunt goblins:

  • We selected the Nantu Region (just east of the most southwestern waypoint) due to its optimal spawn density and lack of competing events like Hell Tides or Witch Hunts.
  • After Nantu, we quickly teleported to the first PvP area, ran through to clear goblins, then teleported again to the second PvP zone, repeating the process.
  • The goal was solely goblin farming—ignoring other mobs or loot unless necessary.

Incredibly, this third strategy blew the others out of the water—we found a whopping 25 goblins in 30 minutes. The main reason for the massive jump in effectiveness was the targeted, high-mobility nature of this farming method, enhanced dramatically by the use of the expanded map trick.

A critical detail for this method to be effective is enabling Subu’s enhanced detection and repeatedly toggling your expanded map (Tab):

  • Goblins often won't appear at all on your regular mini-map, even at very close range.
  • Using the Tab key (expanded map), you see goblins from roughly five screens away, vastly improving your farming speed and efficiency.

You don't need to spam Tab incessantly, but frequent use is necessary to capitalize fully on this method. Without this technique, your results will be dramatically worse. The results of our testing show that:

  • Regular Gameplay: 5 goblins (30 minutes)
  • Greed Shrine Strategy: 15 goblins (30 minutes)
  • Targeted Nantu/PvP Area Loop: 25 goblins (30 minutes)

Clearly, the targeted Nantu and PvP farming route is by far the most efficient, reliable, and least boring method for maximizing your goblin encounters during the event.

Goblin farming in Diablo 4

During our two-hour farming session using these optimized routes, we encountered all types of new goblins introduced in Season 7, except for the ultra-rare Fedric Goblin, which supposedly drops Mythic items. Considering its incredibly low spawn rate, this isn't particularly surprising.

We did find:

  • Gelatinous Goblins (splitting into smaller goblins)
  • Glittering Goblins (gem fragments)
  • Curious Murl Goblins (bags of Obals)
  • Odious Ector Goblins (massive crafting material drops)
  • Standard goblins were also common, though we hoped they’d have been removed specifically for this event.

By consistently farming these optimal routes (Nantu region and PvP zones), we leveled up the March of the Goblins event progression significantly, reaching rank 8 quickly. With continued farming, reaching the max rank and obtaining that valuable Resplendent Spark reward should happen in no time.

To achieve the best results, stick to these simple steps:

  • Focus on specific high-density, low-player-traffic zones: Nantu and PvP areas.
  • Use your mount and constantly toggle Tab for maximum visibility range.
  • Avoid areas with active Hell Tides or Witch Hunts, as these events attract more players, potentially reducing goblin availability.
  • Consider disabling crossplay to minimize competition, although it wasn't necessary in our test runs at Torment IV.

Follow this straightforward yet highly effective farming method, and you’ll have no trouble rapidly completing event milestones and grabbing tons of valuable loot from goblins along the way.

Start Goblin Hunting Now

The event won’t last indefinitely, so it’s best to start farming this event as soon as you can. There are lots of rewards waiting for you, so you better use one of the following methods above. If you’re struggling still, you might want to consider using a high-DPS build like the Blood Wave Necromancer.
