How to Unlock Mythic Uniques and Grind for Your Desired Item
Unlocking Mythic Uniques this season is a bit trickier than before, but there are also more ways to obtain them if you know where to look. Mythic Uniques are some of the most powerful Diablo 4 Items, and their rarity reflects that.
Here’s a rundown of how to get them, the best methods to farm specific ones, and which ones are worth your time.
What Are Mythic Uniques?
Mythic Uniques are extremely powerful items that will always drop as Ancestral, meaning they come with at least one greater affix (GA) for extra power.
Some Mythic Uniques, like Tyrael’s Might, offer massive defensive boosts, which makes them invaluable, especially for Spiritborn players. Getting into higher torment levels also requires a lot of resistance, which Tyrael’s Might provides in spades.
Many other Mythic Uniques are worth hunting down too, while some can be dismantled and trashed.
Mythic Unique Drop Rates
Mythic Uniques have a chance to drop from almost any activity in the game. While you’ll see slightly higher chances from certain activities—like Tormented Bosses—the drop rates vary based on the torment tier. Here’s what you need to know:
- Higher Torment Levels Mean Higher Drop Rates: The higher the torment tier, the better the Mythic Unique drop rate, although we don’t have exact numbers. Torment 4 offers a significantly higher chance than lower tiers.
- More Loot with Higher Torments: Torment 4, for example, typically drops five to six items, while each tier down decreases the item count by one.
- Lower Drop Rates from Tormented Bosses: Previously, Mythic Uniques dropped at about 1 in 10 from these bosses; now, it’s closer to 1 in 20 or even 1 in 30. So, finding the specific Mythic Unique you want is more challenging than before.
Crafting Mythic Uniques
For those struggling to get a Mythic Unique drop, crafting is an option:
- Collect Two Resplendent Sparks: You can get these by dismantling Mythic Uniques or completing the seasonal journey and Zarban Zet reputation.
- Gather Runes and Gems: You’ll need six Lith Runes, six Fiia Runes, and six Tech Runes. These are best farmed by killing Tormented Bosses or running Undercity runs with Tribute of Harmony.
- Join Groups for Efficiency: If you’re in a group, consolidate your D4 Runes to speed up the process. Running dungeons like the Pit often yields the necessary runes.
Pro Tip: Lith Runes are among the rarest, so you may want to trade for them.
Trading Tips
If farming isn’t yielding results, try trading:
- High-Value Items: Some items, like Rod of Capel, sell for billions of gold. You can use that gold to buy runes.
- Trade Chat: Type in trade chat to find others willing to swap runes or sell Lith Runes.
Gambling Mythic Uniques
For those who enjoy a little RNG, you can gamble your Mythic Uniques:
- Buy a Resplendent Gamble: Head to the blacksmith and purchase a random Mythic Unique for two Resplendent Sparks and 50 million gold.
- Potential Rewards: You might land a rare item, like a Harlequin, which can significantly boost your build.
Warning: It’s a gamble, so don’t expect the exact item you want every time.
Farming Tribute of Harmony and UnderCity Runs
Another method for Mythic Unique hunting is Tribute of Harmony runs in the Undercity:
- Grim Favor Farming: Fill out Grim Favors to earn Tribute of Ascendants or United Tribute, both of which can yield Uber Uniques.
- Specific Gear Targeting: Use the Undercity vendor to select item types, like armor or weapons, for a better chance at specific Mythic Uniques.
Tip: Bring friends if you have a United Tribute to share the rewards.
How to Target Farm Uniques and Mythics in Diablo 4
Boss Ladder Overview & S6 Changes
This season, obtaining Mythic Uniques has become a bit more strategic. While some players still rely on the Murmuring Obols gambling system, there's now an alternative that's proving more efficient for many: the Boss Ladder.
It’s not just about luck anymore—it's about grinding the right bosses to get those sought-after unique items. Let's dive into how you can target farm Uniques and Mythics, and how the revamped system this season has changed the game.
Murmuring Obols and Gambling for Uniques
Each unique in Diablo 4 has a way to be farmed more efficiently than anywhere else, and that’s where Murmuring Obols come in. The Purveyor of Curiosities vendor has a high drop rate for unique items, especially with targeted slot selection.
However, Murmuring Obols are a limited resource, so while gambling can be effective, it's not always sustainable.
That’s where the Boss Ladder comes into play. While gambling with Obols can be rewarding, farming bosses for targeted drops is far more lucrative in the long run, especially with the heightened chances of Mythic Uniques dropping. Let’s explore the Boss Ladder in more detail.
The Boss Ladder: Overview and S6 Changes
The Boss Ladder system has evolved over the seasons, and this one brings major changes. With the revamped difficulty system and the addition of Spiritborn as a class, there’s a lot of potential for farming top-tier uniques. Here’s how it works:
How to Get Boss Summon Materials
While doing almost any activity in Diablo 4, you’ll acquire boss summon materials. Some of the best ways to farm these materials include:
- Undercity Tribute
- World Bosses (they drop a decent number)
- Treasure Goblins
- Hell Tides
- Elite Monsters (they also drop boss summon materials)
The Lower-Tier Bosses
The Boss Ladder has four lower-tier bosses: Lord Zir, Beast, Ice Faron, and Greguar. Killing any of these bosses drops the required materials to summon their higher-tier counterparts: Duriel or Andariel.
- Lord Zir drops boss summon materials when defeated.
- Beast and Ice Faron drop their own materials.
- Greguar is considered the easiest to farm for materials and also drops unique items for Spiritborn.
These bosses are designed to drop Mythic Uniques, but the main difference is difficulty. Duriel and Andariel are tougher but have enhanced chances of dropping Mythic Uniques compared to the others.
Mythic Uniques and Spiritborn
Each boss has specific items tied to Spiritborn players, and they also drop various Uniques. Here’s a breakdown:
- Lord Zir drops unique items like the Jin Shell Chest and Whoy Knock Po Glaive.
- Beast and Ice Faron drop Scorn of the Earth Boots, Wound Drinker Ring, and Harmony of Eaka Helmet.
- Greguar drops Protection of the Prime Pants, Peacemonger Signate Ring, and more.
Duriel and Andariel’s Unique Drops
Duriel and Andariel are key targets for Mythic Uniques. They share a drop pool, but with an increased chance of Mythic Uniques. Specific Spiritborn drops include:
- Seazon (Quarterstaff)
- Rod of Ke (Quarterstaff)
Infernal Hordes and Specific Unique Farming
If you’re specifically hunting for Infernal Horde themed uniques, such as the Crown of Lucion or the Shard of Vathal, Infernal Hordes offer a higher drop rate. These D4 Items have boosted chances when you farm them through this activity.
Additionally, the Council at the end of Infernal Hordes now drops items too, giving you more chances to get the gear you’re after.
Summoning Material Farm Methods
When farming for boss summon materials, there are multiple ways to maximize your drops:
- Realmwalker Seasonal Mechanics: Once you reach Torment difficulty, you can activate the Opal of Torment. This consumable gives a 30-minute buff that increases the chances of boss summon materials dropping from any enemies you kill.
- UnderCity Tribute: This is another great method for farming boss materials, and it increases your chances of Mythic drops with decent rates.
Another key method is using the Party Finder system, accessible via Shift + P on PC. This system allows you to join rotations with other players to get more kills using the same materials.
Pro Tip: Be cautious about joining random rotations—some players may try to take your materials without contributing.
