Diablo 4 Season 4 Release Date And Everything We Know

6297 0

Diablo 4 has been on a roller coaster ride with the players. Everything up to the current season has been met with either bad or underwhelming reception. The good news is that Blizzard isn't giving up on the game yet. With Diablo 4 Season 4 allegedly coming soon, there's a chance to redeem the game once again.

Blizzard is yet to reveal exactly what's to come in the season ahead but it seems like a few leakers are already able to uncover the new content drop.

Diablo 4 Season 4 Release Date

At its current state, Blizzard is giving Diablo players a very generous 3-month cycle per season. Considering the time Season of the Construct started, we can safely assume that the release date of the next season is on the 14th of May.

Considering that there are not going to be any delays at the end of Blizzard, the season is going to launch on this date. It will also start exactly after the end of the current season.

Diablo 4 Season 4: Everything New

Unfortunately, Blizzard has been pretty mum about what's coming to the game's seasonal updates. So far, we've gotten three seasons that introduced storylines, new mechanics, and features all focused on a certain theme. For Season 3, it's Season of the Construct and the new progression system came in the form of a construct companion.

As per Blizzard, Diablo 4 will go on a transformative journey between 3-9 months long. That time frame is set to be over with Season 4. During Season 3, we got long-awaited features like the Gauntlet. With the "transformative" phase coming to a close, we have an idea of what Blizzard will bring.

Itemization Overhaul

A huge aspect of Diablo 4's progression system relies heavily on your skill build, as well as the loot you pick up. The current loot system has been subpar and players are always on the fence about what to feel of it. With Season 4, we're getting a major itemization overhaul. While we don't know what this means, the players are expecting that the change will be akin to Diablo 3’s Loot 2.0 update.

What Is Diablo 3 Loot 2.0?

In essence, Loot 2.0 is a major itemization overhaul that was introduced in Diablo 3 before the Reaper of Souls expansion. This update seemingly saved the game from ruin by completely changing the game and adding beloved features.

For starters, Loot 2.0 removed the Auction House. Most importantly, however, it introduced better loot drops and targeted loot drops, and it even gave players lots of ways to customize their items in the game. The update made rare drops harder to find but the effects of these items were significantly improved.

One of the best features in Loot 2.0 was the introduction of Smart Loot. This system gave players a chance to get loot with affixes that were perfect for their current build.

Now, it's hard to figure out how Blizzard will fix itemization in Diablo 4. At its current state, players are currently unhappy with the quality of rare items, as well as their drop rates. Doing something similar to Loot 2.0 could make players more satisfied with the game.

Regardless of their plan, for Blizzard to consider overhauling itemization is good news already. It's going to be better if it's something akin to Loot 2.0. It is already exciting in itself. This could reinvent the game and the progression system in ways that the player base will be very satisfied with.

Better Codex Of Power Management

Another set of changes coming will be geared towards the Codex of Power. The player base is also at an impasse about what to think of the current system. Regardless, Blizzard is planning a revamp of the system as well.

Rumors suggest that high-rolled Aspects can be extracted and upgraded into their base versions. This helps players be more creative with their builds and opens up more possibilities. It makes creating endgame builds easier as well. With this change, players are also able to free up precious space on their stash.

New Details Coming Soon

Considering that the launch of the new season is a month away, we can expect more details about it in the upcoming weeks. As per the last seasons, we're probably going to get a live stream that details everything we'll be getting in Season 4, and probably more moving forward.

Many players believe that Season 4 is Blizzard's last chance to actually save Diablo 4 and they could be right. If any of the promising features are delayed, it's safe to say that the game could see an even more severe drop in players.
