Diablo 4 Lord Zir Strategy Guide

Diablo 4 Season 2 launched a few weeks back and it's filled with a lot of new content to keep us coming back to Sanctuary. Aside from the new loot and gameplay mechanics, the most exciting part of the update is the new endgame bosses that will test your latest new build to its limits.

One of the new bosses in the game right now is Lord Zir. While he's not as powerful as Duriel or other endgame bosses in Diablo 2 right now, it's still worth preparing for this fight as he can catch you off-guard if you don't know what to do.

Where To Fight Diablo 4 Lord Zir

As with all the new endgame bosses in Diablo 4, you must do a few things before you can fight Lord Zir. For Lord Zir, you'll need 9 Exquisite Blood before you can summon him. The item isn't exactly rare but you'll still need to go out of your way to farm 9 of it to summon the boss.

Where To Find Exquisite Blood

To get Exquisite Blood, you'll need to defeat a World Boss on World Tier 4. It's best to fight these bosses with others as there's a 15-minute timer to beating them. A total of 15 players can fight a World Boss at the same time so you can bring some friends along if you want to farm Exquisite Blood. The three World Bosses are:

  • Ashava the Pestilent
  • Wandering Death
  • Avarice the Gold Cursed

The three bosses can spawn in one of these locations:

  • Caen Adar in Scosglen
  • The Crucible in Fractured Peaks
  • Saraan Caldera in Dry Steppes
  • Seared Basin in Kehjistan
  • Fields of Desecration in Hawezar

Where To Find Lord Zir

You can find Lord Zir inside The Darkened Way which is located in Fracture Peaks. It's east of Kyovashad. You'll need to bring your summoning materials into the area and use the altar to summon Lord Zir. Keep in mind that you'll need 9 Exquisite Blood each time you summon Lord Zir.

If you're planning on fighting him again and again, you'll need to farm a lot of Exquisite Blood beforehand so you don't have to waste time going back and forth.

How To Beat Lord Zir

The fight with Lord Zir is far from being the toughest fight of all the new endgame bosses. However, you'll still want to prepare for the fight. For this fight, you'd want to make sure that your resistance to Shadow damage iis as high as possible as this is Lord Zir's main element for the fight.

The goal when getting into the fight is to increase your Darkness resistance to 70%. If you can't reach the cap, you can use a Potent Elixir of Shadow Resistance for the extra boost. Aside from that, keep these things in mind:

  1. The arena will constantly have blood puddles spawning on the ground. Avoid these as much as possible as it can deal consistent damage without your knowing it. The damage from there and from Zir is enough to put you down very quickly. Being very active around the field is important.
  2. When Lord Zir raises both of his arms, moves away from his frontside as he will unleash a devastating attack. The key is to get behind him as much as possible so that you're able to avoid most of his damaging attacks.
  3. Once his HP drops to 70%, Lord Zir will begin spawning Elite Bloodseekers. These are fodder enemies but take them out as soon as you can so you don't get overwhelmed. They can also be a source of potions.
  4. At 50% HP, Lord Zir will begin summoning blood globes that move around the room. Make it a priority to avoid these as much as you can as these can hinder your movement and cause consistent damage over time.
  5. The last attack he unlocks comes at around 30% HP. Lord Zir will fly and then land on the ground to spawn a linear void zone that can spawn blood droplets. These deal heavy damage but are easy to avoid since they travel in a straight line.

Overall, the fight with Lord Zir is very easy as long as you avoid getting affected by any CC. With a high enough Shadow resistance, you don't have to worry about the damage too much.
