Diablo 2: Resurrected , Game Guides , Leveling

D2R Season 14 is live, and the current top builds are Mosaic Assassin, Hammerdin, Lightning Sorceress, Javazon, and Blood Boil Warlock. This tier list ranks the best D2R builds after Patch 3.2 based on ladder start value, endgame farming speed, bossing, Hardcore safety, and gear cost.

Mosaic Assassin still clears some of the hardest content at excellent speed once geared. Hammerdin remains the safest all-purpose Paladin build. Lightning Sorceress is still one of the best farming builds after Infinity, while Javazon melts dense areas and bosses. Warlock stays highly relevant after Patch 3.2, but the class now requires more setup than it did before the latest balance pass.
Season 14 is not just another ladder reset. Patch 3.2 changed Warlock scaling, Terror Zone farming, Herald behavior, Sunder Charm access, and Colossal Ancient difficulty. That means the best class depends more on your goal than usual. Fast ladder start, solo farming, Hardcore, Ubers, and group play all reward different builds.
The current D2R ladder season has just begun, and this guide will help you gain an edge early on. If you are still planning your route to 99, pair this tier list with our D2R Solo Leveling Guide.
D2R Season 14 Build Tier List
| Tier | Builds | Best For |
| S Tier | Mosaic Martial Arts Assassin, Hammerdin, Lightning Sorceress, Javazon, Blood Boil Warlock | Endgame farming, Terror Zones, high damage, efficient ladder play |
| A Tier | Blizzard Sorceress, Nova Sorceress, Uber Smiter, Poison Nova Necromancer, Summon Necromancer, Trapsin, Horker Barbarian, Fire Druid | Strong starters, focused farming, bossing, safe progression |
| B Tier | Frozen Orb/Hydra Sorceress, Wind Druid, Zeal Paladin, Bone Spear Necromancer, Frenzy Barbarian, Bowazon, Fireball Sorceress | Budget play, niche farming, casual ladder progress |
| C Tier | Werewolf Druid, Whirlwind Barbarian, Throw Barbarian, non-Mosaic Martial Arts Assassin, melee Amazon variants | Playable, but slower or more gear-dependent |
Tier lists are snapshots. These rankings are based on Season 14 after Patch 3.2, not a permanent verdict on every class. A B-tier build can still clear Hell and farm well with the right setup. The difference is speed, safety, gearing cost, and how much the build struggles before key items.
S Tier D2R Builds
Mosaic Martial Arts Assassin
Mosaic Assassin currently ranks as one of the strongest D2R builds because it combines huge area damage, boss damage, mobility, and scaling. Once you have dual Mosaic claws, charge management becomes the main skill check. The payoff is massive clear speed in Terror Zones, Chaos Sanctuary, Worldstone Keep, and dense farming routes.
The weakness is simple: before Mosaic, the build is not the same build. You either level as a Trapsin or another Assassin setup, then respec once the gear is ready. It can also feel clunky if you hate maintaining charges.
Starter value is average. Endgame value is S-tier. If you want the dedicated setup, use our Mosaic Martial Arts Assassin D2R build from past seasons as a starting point.
Hammerdin
Hammerdin remains one of the safest top picks in the Diablo 2 Resurrected tier list. Blessed Hammer ignores many resistance problems, has excellent damage, and works in nearly every major farming area. Paladin also gets strong defensive tools from Holy Shield, good block chance, and easy access to utility auras.
Its main weakness is positioning. Hammers can miss awkward monster angles, especially in tight spaces. Magic immunes are also annoying in specific areas, though they do not ruin the build overall.
Starter value is strong once you get basic caster gear. Endgame value is excellent, but you need to follow the right gear path. If you can manage a good D2R Hammerdin build from budget to best gear, you have a class that will take you well into the endgame.
Lightning Sorceress
The D2R Lightning Sorceress is still one of the best D2R builds for players who want fast farming and smooth teleport routes. With Infinity, Griffon’s Eye, and proper Faster Cast Rate breakpoints, she destroys Terror Zones, key routes, and many high-value farming spots.
The tradeoff is gear cost. Before Infinity or strong Sunder Charm support, Lightning Sorceress can feel worse than Blizzard or Frozen Orb/Hydra for early ladder. She is also fragile if you play too aggressively.
Starter value is okay, but not ideal compared to Blizzard. Endgame value is S-tier. If you pull it off, it’s one of the best at clearing dungeons in the game.
Javazon
Javazon earns S tier because Lightning Fury and Charged Strike are still exceptionally strong at what they do. Dense packs disappear fast, bosses melt, and the build scales well with endgame gear. Cow runs, Terror Zones, and high-density areas are where Javazon feels best.
The downside is mobility and gearing. Without Enigma, she does not move like a Sorceress or Assassin. Lightning immunes also require planning, especially before you have Sunder Charm support and strong resistance reduction.
Starter value is decent if you know where to farm. Endgame value is S-tier for density and boss damage.
Blood Boil Warlock
Blood Boil Warlock currently sits in S tier, but with a warning. Patch 3.2 changed several Warlock mechanics, including Demon tree scaling, Bind Demon requirements, Blood Boil-related synergies, and Demon survivability. The build is still strong, but it is no longer a low-effort ladder cheat code.
Blood Boil’s main strengths are pressure, scaling, and strong combat flow once the build has proper skill investment. The class also brings new gearing routes, which makes Season 14 feel fresh compared to older ladder resets.
The weakness is uncertainty. Warlock is newer than the classic classes, and more balance passes may happen. It also asks players to learn class-specific mechanics instead of relying on old D2 habits.
Starter value is good if you enjoy learning new systems. Endgame value is high, especially if the build's post-patch numbers hold. For the full setup, see our D2R Warlock Blood Boil build guide. This is easily one of the best ladder starter builds for D2R right now.
A Tier D2R Builds
Blizzard Sorceress
Blizzard Sorceress is still one of the best ladder starters in D2R. She farms Mephisto, Ancient Tunnels, Stony Tomb, and many Terror Zones with very little gear. Teleport gives her a speed advantage that most classes cannot match early.
Her weakness is cold immunity. Sunder Charms help, but early ladder Blizzard still prefers targeted farming over full-map clearing.
Starter value is excellent. Endgame value is strong, though many players eventually swap to Lightning or Nova.
Nova Sorceress
Nova Sorceress is fast, smooth, and deadly once geared. Energy Shield setups can farm aggressively, and Nova’s circular damage pattern feels great in dense Terror Zones.
The catch is item dependence. Nova wants good Faster Cast Rate, mana support, survivability, and often Infinity. Without that, she feels risky and mana-hungry.
Starter value is weak to average. Endgame value is high.
Uber Smiter
Smiter is not the fastest general farmer, but it remains one of the best bossing builds in the game. Crushing Blow, Life Tap, high block, and reliable single-target damage make it the classic Uber killer.
The weakness is clear speed. Smiter is built to delete bosses, not farm giant packs.
Starter value is niche. Endgame value is excellent for Ubers. For the full setup, use our Uber Smiter build from budget to best gear.
Poison Nova Necromancer
Poison Nova Necromancer is strong in dense areas and scales well with Death’s Web, Trang-Oul pieces, Lower Resist, and Sunder Charm support. Corpse Explosion gives the build extra screen-clearing power after the first kills.

The weakness is ramp-up. Poison damage takes time, and the build needs gear to feel sharp in higher player counts.
Starter value is average. Endgame value is high.
Summon Necromancer
Summon Necromancer is one of the safest D2R builds for Hell progression. Skeletons, curses, Clay Golem, and Corpse Explosion let him clear with cheap gear and low risk.
His weakness is speed. Summon Necro can clear nearly anything, but he rarely wins the race.
Starter value is excellent for safe solo play. Endgame value is good, especially for Hardcore.
Trapsin
Trapsin is a reliable ladder starter and one of the best Assassin paths before Mosaic gear. Lightning Sentry, Death Sentry, and Mind Blast give her damage, corpse chaining, and crowd control.
The downside is that Mosaic outscales her hard later. Trap laying speed and lightning immunity can also slow her down without the right gear.
Starter value is excellent. Endgame value is good, but not top-tier compared to Mosaic.
Horker Barbarian
Horker Barbarian is a farming specialist. Find Item gives him a unique loot angle, especially in Travincal. A well-built Horker can generate steady runes, charms, jewelry, and gold over time.
The weakness is early gearing. Barbarians need weapons, attack rating, survivability, and patience. A badly geared Barb feels awful compared to early Sorceress.
Starter value is low unless you know the route. Endgame value is strong for targeted farming.
Fire Druid
Fire Druid has improved over older D2 metas thanks to Sunder Charm support and better farming options. Fissure, Volcano, and Armageddon can handle good area coverage once geared.
The weakness is mixed damage behavior and slower bossing compared to top builds. It is fun and viable, but not as efficient as S-tier picks.
Starter value is solid. Endgame value is good.
B Tier D2R Builds
Frozen Orb/Hydra Sorceress
Frozen Orb/Hydra is a comfortable budget Sorceress setup because it covers two elements and clears Hell without needing Infinity. It is especially good for players who want fewer immunity walls.
The tradeoff is lower peak damage. Blizzard farms faster when content lines up, and Lightning wins later with better gear.
Starter value is strong. Endgame value is average.
Wind Druid
Wind Druid is safe, sturdy, and flexible. Tornado deals physical damage, Hurricane adds cold utility, and Cyclone Armor gives strong elemental protection.
The weakness is Tornado aiming. It can feel inconsistent, especially against moving targets or narrow layouts.
Starter value is decent. Endgame value is average to good.
Zeal Paladin
Zeal Paladin is straightforward, durable, and fun if you like melee. Fanaticism, Life Tap sources, Crushing Blow, and good block make him reliable for many fights.
The problem is the usual melee tax. You need weapon damage, attack rating, leech, resists, and positioning. Casters do more with less.
Starter value is average. Endgame value is good for players who enjoy melee.
Bone Spear Necromancer
Bone Spear Necro has clean magic damage and good control from curses and Bone Prison. It can progress through Hell without relying too much on monster resistance rolls.
Its weakness is damage scaling. It does not clear as fast as Poison Nova or Hammerdin in most farming scenarios.
Starter value is decent. Endgame value is average.
Frenzy Barbarian
Frenzy Barbarian has speed, leech, and strong single-target pressure once weapons are sorted. It is more active than Whirlwind and can feel great in the right hands.
The weakness is gear dependency. Bad weapons make the build feel terrible.
Starter value is weak. Endgame value is average to good.
Bowazon
Bowazon is playable and satisfying with gear, especially Faith setups, but she takes investment. Multishot and Strafe can clear well in open zones, and physical bow gameplay still has a loyal player base.
The issue is cost versus output. Other builds reach better results with cheaper gear.
Starter value is weak. Endgame value is average.
C Tier D2R Builds
C-tier builds are not useless. They are just harder to recommend for efficient ladder play.
Werewolf Druid, Whirlwind Barbarian, Throw Barbarian, non-Mosaic Martial Arts Assassin, and melee Amazon variants can clear content, but they usually need more gear, more patience, or more favorable farming routes. Pick them for fun, class fantasy, or challenge runs rather than pure efficiency.

What Changed in Season 14 vs Season 13?
Patch 3.2 is the reason this Season 14 D2R build tier list looks different from Season 13.
Warlock is the biggest shift. The class received several adjustments after PTR feedback, including changes to weapon rules, Chaos skills, Echoing Strike, Bind Demon, Blood Boil-related scaling, Demonic Mastery, and Consume. The short version: Warlock is still good, but players need real investment and better planning now.
Terror Zones also changed. Heralds now spawn more actively while players kill monsters in Terror Zones, and their Sunder Charm behavior has been adjusted. Latent Sunder Charms can also drop from any monster, Terrorized or not, with Magic Find. That helps more builds solve immunity problems over time, especially solo players.
Colossal Ancients are harder. Their statues can drop from non-Terrorized act bosses at a reduced rate, but the fights themselves received survivability and damage increases. Builds with weak single-target damage or poor defenses will feel that more.
WASD movement matters less for rankings than damage, farming speed, and safety, but it still helps playability. Players who prefer keyboard movement may find dodging, repositioning, and kiting smoother in some fights.
Best D2R Class for Each Goal in Season 14
Best ladder start class: Hammerdin overall, Sorceress for speed
Hammerdin is the best overall starter build, Sorceress is the best ladder-start class for speed and early farming, and Bone Necromancer is the safest low-gear caster.
Blizzard Sorceress remains excellent for targeted early Magic Find, while Lightning Sorceress scales better once you have the gear to handle immunities and resistance reduction.
Best solo farming class: Sorceress or Assassin
Sorceress wins early solo farming because Teleport gives her fast access to bosses and key areas. Assassin wins later if you have Mosaic and want high-speed Terror Zone clears.
Best bossing class: Paladin
For Ubers and boss-focused play, Paladin is still the safe pick. Smiter does not need perfect gear to do its job, and high-end setups are extremely reliable.
Best Hardcore class: Necromancer
Summon Necromancer is the safest Hardcore recommendation. Minions, curses, Corpse Explosion, and low gear pressure make it forgiving. Hammerdin is also strong, but Necro is easier to keep alive when gear is rough.
Best budget gearing class: Sorceress
Budget Sorceress wins because she can farm her own upgrades faster than most classes. Even weak gear can support Mephisto runs, key farming, and early Terror Zone farming.
If you want to shorten the gearing process, RPGStash can help with D2R Runes and ladder items so you can focus more on playing the build instead of repeating the same early farm routes.
Best group play class: Paladin
Paladin is the best group class because auras are always useful. Conviction, Concentration, Salvation, Fanaticism, and utility swaps can make the whole party better. Hammerdin also brings strong damage while staying durable.
Best D2R Class Overall in Season 14
What is the best class in D2R Season 14? The best class depends on your goal: Sorceress for ladder speed, Assassin for endgame clearing with Mosaic, Paladin for bossing and all-around safety, and Necromancer for Hardcore comfort.
The best overall D2R class in Season 14 is currently Assassin for endgame power, Sorceress for ladder efficiency, and Paladin for all-around safety.
If you want one answer for pure endgame clearing, pick Mosaic Assassin.
If you want the easiest ladder start, pick Sorceress.
If you want one class that can farm, survive, and boss well, pick Paladin.
Warlock is the wild card. It is strong enough to be a top Season 14 pick, but because Patch 3.2 changed several class mechanics, it is worth watching how the ladder meta settles.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Do not pick an S-tier build without checking its gear requirements. Mosaic Assassin, Lightning Sorceress, and Javazon are amazing later, but they do not all feel amazing on day one.
Do not ignore immunities. Sunder Charms help, but they do not fix your damage by themselves. You still need resistance reduction, survivability, and a farming route that fits your build.
Do not copy an endgame build at level 35. Many D2R best builds are respec targets, not leveling setups.
Do not overrate boss damage if your goal is farming. Smiter is great at Ubers, but that does not make it the best build for Terror Zones or rune farming.
Do not treat Season 14 rankings as permanent. Patch 3.2 already changed Warlock and endgame systems. More tuning can shift the list again.
