Diablo 2: Resurrected , Runes, Runewords & Horadric Cube
Blizzard announced that the next ladder season for Diablo II: Resurrected will be launching this week. Read further to learn everything there is to know about D2R Season 10!
Launch Date
For those who are new to Diablo II: Resurrected, a ladder season is where you can start the game with a fresh economy, allowing you to create a new set of characters to climb the leaderboards. If you want to reach the top 100 players in Season 10, head to our D2R Store to acquire all the items you need for a smoother playing experience!
Having said that, D2R Ladder Season 10 will launch on March 7, Friday, at 5 PM PST. As with previous seasons, you have several different modes to choose from, such as:
- Pre-Expansion Ladder: This mode provides you with content only on the first four acts of the game. What this means is that your adventure culminates in defeating the Lord of Terror, Diablo.
- Pre-Expansion Hardcore Ladder: This is the same as the above except for one major difference: You only have one life. That’s right! When you play this mode, dying is not an option as it will result in a permanent death!
- Standard Ladder: This is the mode that you want to play in because it encompasses all content related to Diablo II: Resurrected, including the Diablo II: Lord of Destruction expansion. Vanquish Baal and hire a bonafide Barbarian mercenary to help you defeat him.
- Hardcore Ladder: Do you have what it takes to survive? This is akin to the Standard Ladder, albeit dying will make you lose the race. Only choose the HC Ladder if you are already familiar with the game and that you use a “defense-first” approach.
Those who are playing Diablo II: Resurrected in Europe and Asia will have to wait until March 8 at 2 AM CET and 10 AM KST, respectively, in order to partake in Ladder Season 10.
What’s New?
At the time of writing, Blizzard has not released any updates regarding new content in Diablo II: Resurrected Ladder Season 10. We can only assume that the company does not have anything substantial planned for the upcoming season.
Be that as it may, D2R Season 10 gives you an avenue to start fresh, with a chance to prove yourself by rising to the top of the leaderboards. Be sure to check out our D2R guides if you need some inspiration about viable builds in Diablo II: Resurrected.
How About the WASD Movement Feature?
Blizzard is still mum regarding the said movement scheme. With only a few days left before the launch of D2R Ladder Season 10, it is highly unlikely that the company will implement it once the season begins.
In case you’re not aware, Blizzard was supposed to implement the WASD movement scheme as part of Patch 2.8 intended for Season 9. The feature was tested by the community prior to the launch of Season 9 and reactions were mixed.
On the one hand, some players really liked the feature as it allowed them to move their characters using the W, A, S, and D keys on the keyboard. However, the vast majority of players said that the movement scheme was too buggy and unreliable.
For instance, you could not move your character with WASD when the inventory was open. Besides that, highlighting monsters while utilizing the said movement scheme was not possible, which meant that you could not eliminate them.
Because of the various issues, Blizzard had no choice but to remove the WASD movement scheme from Patch 2.8. Unfortunately, it seems that the company is not going to implement it anytime soon. Even PezRadar, the game’s community manager, is silent about the issue. This is probably because the feature has not been fixed yet.
You could say that it is a good thing because it will not bode well for Blizzard, as well as the player base if such a buggy feature were to be implemented. Still, it would be nice if Blizzard could provide any news regarding this matter to quash any negative speculations.
Will Diablo II: Resurrected be fine without it? Absolutely! We will give you suggestions on what D2R builds you can use as your ladder starter in the next section so that you’ll have a seamless experience!
Best D2R Builds for Season 10
So, what are the best builds to start Diablo II: Resurrected Season 10 with? Here are the ones that we certainly recommend:
Mosaic Assassin
Arguably the best ladder starter for D2R Season 10, the Mosaic Assassin beats the competition with her versatility and insane damage output. This build utilizes a couple of fast-attacking claw weapons with the Mosaic Runeword on each one. The dual Mosaics pretty much enable this Assassin Build to use finishing moves without consuming charges, thereby ensuring maximum damage at all times.
If you want to try this D2R build in the first week of the new ladder season, visit our Diablo II: Resurrected Store to find the Advanced Mosaic Assassin Pack! It contains all of the build’s essentials, including the dual Mosaics, Enigma, and the Gore Rider, among others.
Hammerdin
The Blessed Hammer Paladin (or the “Hammerdin” for short) is a staple among D2R ladder starters due to the simple fact that it can function with modest gear. All you really need to have it running is a Spirit sword and shield, the Lore Runeword for the helmet, and the Stealth Runeword for the body armor. With these items, you can reach Hell Difficulty and defeat Baal without any problem whatsoever!
If you’re wondering why this is one of the best D2R builds out there, it is because the Hammerdin deals considerable amounts of damage. Its primary skill, Blessed Hammer, can be used in quick succession, which then fills the screen with multiple projectiles moving in a circular fashion that eliminates any monster in proximity.
Are you interested in playing the Hammerdin in Diablo II: Resurrected Season 10? You can check out our dedicated Hammerdin build guide.
Blizzard Sorceress
Almost every D2R Sorc Build can be a viable ladder starter when built right, but the Blizzard Sorceress is definitely a cut above the rest in terms of sheer power relative to investment. This build utilizes both Blizzard and Frozen Orb to decimate the minions of Hell with deadly cold damage!
Once you have acquired Nightwing’s Veil, the Blizzard Sorceress truly takes off! This unique helmet amplifies the damage of Blizzard and Frozen Orb considerably and it’s not even expensive! You can buy the Nightwing’s Veil in our D2R Store.
Summon Necromancer
If you are into the minion playstyle, commanding a legion of the undead to do the dirty work, then we highly recommend that you play the Summon Necromancer in Diablo II: Resurrected Season 10.
This build, as you can tell, summons a plethora of minions that consist of an Iron Golem and a bunch of skeleton warriors to kill the forces of evil. If you don’t want your minion army to have all the fun, you can even utilize Corpse Explosion to destroy any monster that comes your way!
Have we piqued your interest? You can read our D2R Summon Necromancer guide for everything that you need to know about this build!
Fist of Heavens Paladin
There are only a handful of magic-immune monsters in D2R. If you want to play a build that deals magic damage consistently, then look no further than the Fist of the Heavens Paladin (more commonly known as the FOHdin).
The FOHdin can cast a powerful bolt from the heavens that deals lightning damage on the initial impact, and magic damage with the resulting holy bolts that spread out from the main target.
Do you want to get the FOHdin up and running once the Ladder Season 10 starts? You can get the most optimal gear for the Fist of the Heavens Paladin in our shop!
Nova Sorceress
The last entry on the list is definitely not a slouch. If anything, it’s one of those D2R builds that will just wow you with its mechanics and fun playstyle. We’re talking about the Nova Sorceress, of course!
What makes the Nova Sorc special, you ask? Well, it is one of the only builds in the game that ties great offense with equally amazing defense. Nova is a powerful lightning spell that deals massive damage in an area, allowing you to kill multiple monsters at once. Couple this with the Static Field and you’ll have no problems killing even the toughest bosses in the game!
Furthermore, the Nova Sorceress uses Energy Shield for defense. Along with Telekinesis, this build is virtually unkillable when you have the right items. The only thing that can probably kill you is server lag, though that is unlikely if you have a good internet connection.
We have a comprehensive D2R Nova Sorceress guide if you are interested in using this build as your ladder starter for Season 10.
