Call to Arms is probably the most commonly used switch weapon in the game. Its primary function is to provide the Barbarian Battle Command and Battle Orders buffs to characters who would not otherwise have the skill. This Runeword will often be a very high priority pickup that ranks just behind key items such as Enigma and Infinity. It adds a huge amount of survivability as well as mana regeneration.
An un-boosted Call to Arms is able to provide a level 8 Battle Orders which is already a 56% boost to life and mana. This figure is often much higher due to +skills. For instance, a textbook Hammerdin with Annihilus, Mara’s Kaleidoscope, Enigma, Spirit, 2x Stone of Jordan’s and Arachnid Mesh would have a level 18 Battle Orders (+86% life and mana)
It should be noted that Barbarians also benefit from these Oskills but they are limited to a maximum of +3 rather than 6/6/4. When a Barbarian views a 6/6/4 Call to Arms in-game, the display will automatically show 3/3/3 (this sometimes causes confusion when trading). A maxed out Battle Orders buff requires the use of a Call to Arms on one hand (+1 All Skills and +3 Battle Orders) and a +3 Warcries or +3 All Skills weapon in the other hand for a total of +7. Dual Wielding Call to Arms will result in only +5.
